Hi all! I'm awfully new to this community, but I've been lingering for a few days.

I found some sprites that interested me and tried to use them...however, they didn't seem to be finished. The soldier sprite isn't really finished, but I think it's usable in the sense that it's Cloud in the Soldier uniform. I couldn't find it compiled anywhere on the forums so I decided to do it. The Cid sprite was unfinished in many spots, so I took the liberty of finishing it. I'm new to spriting which is why I started with these. :D

Cid with near colorless portrait. I had to redo the coloring because I couldn't convert the old palette into a 16-bit bmp:

I didn't really do anything to the Soldier other than piece it together. I probably going to try to take out the Cloud part of it, though:

That way, it'll be easier for us and to you to improve your sprite.

edit:
Good thing someone wants to edit those sprites. Let's see some updates.

I think the Soldier sprite has so much potential...which is why I'm trying to do something with it. I'm not really a fan of FF7, but I like these renditions of the characters (and Zack's).

What's wrong with them, by the way?

here's I suggest,
for the soldier sprite, I would like it if the color of the helmet+pants would be gray(metal).

For Cid, change his colors entirely, imo, if you don't like them. :P

The Cid sprite was unfinished. It had bits and pieces of Mustadio on the sheet. (Hair, yellow shirt on the bottom half.)

The Soldier sprite...I'm actually working on an edit. I may have it up in a few.

Thanks for the suggestions! :D

Another suggestion for the Cid would be to slightly desaturate the shirt. I think that colour might be present on a Lancer cape or something. Might be good to take it from that.

There should be another shade of gray on the helmet

Yes, I think so, too.
Oops. I forgot to borrow colors.

DeCloudified

I like the colors on that, MikeMitchi. :D

Yeah, I was thinking of something like that Asmo. Thanks. It'd at least help compliment the portrait a little.

Yours was better.
Yup, add one shade on the helm, Kunfusion! (2nd brightest color, or brightest color)
the colors used was 15. One more. :)

Really? Using the PalSuite thing it says there are 16 colors (15 + black bg).

Cid saturated a little. I didn't use the Lancer colors, though. Just looking for opinions on this one at the moment.

You desaturated the whole sprite Kunfusion? I only think the shirt needed to be worked on. I know you'd probably have to go through and replace every colour by hand so maybe just use the previous one instead. It looks quite good anyhow.

Roly: Good find, but basically everything that isn't just a straight copy of the panther needs some work.

Haha, it's like a cross between a Panther and a Behemoth.

I haven't really started on monster types, yet. I'm still quite new to this. For now, I'm just going to stick to human classes.

Edit: FOUND AN EDIT THINGY.

Yeah, he's old anyways...so I figured he should look a little more bland and less shiny. I kinda just rushed it, though. Finishing the sprite and taking the rest of Mustadio out was annoying. xD

That's a totally different Cid, but I can see how that can work.

I'm still kinda having trouble palette swapping the Soldier (trying to do 3, first, second, and third). No matter what I do, the colors get way inverted. The base used was poorly pixelated, I think. >_>
