Sound plugin issue for epsxe

I don't know what happened, but just recently my sound started getting interrupted by intervals of static. These last about 5 seconds and happen every 20 seconds or so. The current sound plugin im using is the ePSXe SPU core 1.7.0. I have also tried P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9, but it did not work well. I am running vista if that helps at all. Any suggestions as to what I should tweak or another sound plugin I should try would be greatly appreciated.
