Kagebunji's sprites- Moving on...

Started by Kagebunji, August 04, 2009, 02:29:37 pm

Cheetah

Sprite: Where is the Agrias or Aerith braid (I suppose you kind of have it going on, but I think I would prefer the real deal even if it doesn't quite match the character art)? The helm still needs a bit of work, especially the angled views (which are also the most important). I don't have any suggestions at this point though.

Portrait: I have to say that Mav's attempts are looking really good. His new helm especially should definitely be implemented.
Current Projects:

Twinees

i agree with Cheetah about the helm, so i quickly whipped this up. Hopefully that suits the angle of light now. But you dont have to use it. (my example is on left)

Also the back/back diagonal facing views, the helm (things sticking out the back) seems too far up? i dunno..
Good luck Kage.

Cheetah

I think it is the form of the helm that needs more work than just the shading. I think that you potentially made it worse even Twinees, from what I can tell the light is supposed to be in the top left for these sprites. You made it more like the top right.
Current Projects:

Twinees

mmm... i see you're right cheetah. maybe it is because the shine is too bright? you are probably right about the reshape of the helm being needed or different shading for the entire sprite, which sounds gruesome. Whatever happens, good luck Kage haha.

Cheetah

You are using the cavalier portrait as a base for the portrait, maybe take a look at the sprite for some inspiration as well.

Hmm, Cavalier visor could work indeed. Will try it soon. Yeah I know that back angled views need work, Cheetah, but like you, i have no idea how to fix it :/.

Forgive me my bad english, but I dunno what that is :/

Thanks for that helm, Mav. Sure looks great, gotta use it for sure. I also redone your version of portrait, it looks better than mine, but there is one problem, it is more than 32 colors, heh.

Thanks Twinees and Lijj for encouragement, this sprite is quite painfull :P

Yeah, my portraits tend to get high on the color range--I can reduce this one as necessary. Also, braids refers to this. Hope that helps.

Kagebunji

Ah, I got it. Well, Agrias's braid is not possible, just no chance in hell to use it, look for yourself. As to Aeris, it fits very well, I could use it. Right no I am using Ovelia.

Oh, I missed that. About the blue-ish hair, won't work, not only it will clash with helm, bur also skirt and feather will become blue, since all this share the colors.

Hey, Jimmy. I ORDER you to finish this!

Hehe, just a joke ofcourse, but it would be great if you would finish this sprite.

Haha. I can't really sprite because my mum use my notebook all the time. Well, I'm going to buy new pc soon, so maybe I can get back to spriting; MAYBE only. Hehe.
Kindly upload the images to other image hosting sites. I can't view imageshack. Thanks.

Kagebunji

Ok, after some absence, I'm back. And I have two things to show. First, Lenneth sprite with new visor, wich wins I think. Second is a new portrait, since mine sucked, I edited Mav's attempte quite a lot(those over 30 colors issue remained though, Mav).

Cheetah

Amazing improvements, especially the sprite. For the portrait I would only recommend making her face a little bit less shaded from the helm.
Current Projects:

Kagebunji

Yeah, I know that there is a bit much of shades on her face, I bet you mean especially the upper (our right btw)right part of her face, correct Cheetah? I must thank you though, it was You who told that I could use Cavalier's helm, now it looks better than previous two attempts.

For the portrait, I would also suggest getting rid of the outline on the helmet--my fault for leaving it on there. Getting this down to 16 colors might be tough, but I think we can pull it off. Keep working with the 30 colors, I'll help you out once the portrait is approaching final completion.

Kagebunji

Okay, I will work on this and post some updates soon. Stay tuned!

Twinees

great update Kage. I'm liking how the helmet is looking now.
From look at the helm in the front facing view, it seems small, so do u mind posting a version of the diagonal facing view that has been edited so it has gold on the right-hand side of the helm? Just a suggestion.
But other than that, im really liking it.

Hehe, that one had me worried too, front facing view indeed has small helm, this cannot be helped though, editing this always end up in failure, dunno why. Well anyway, she has arms for walking animations almost done, same for forward walkng frames. I must take a short break though, life calls again. Just wait till summer, I will make sprites 10x quicker!....if life won't bother me too much, haha.

i really hope you stick to this till the end, its really looking great....

Wiegraf: Draw your sword Ramza!
Ramza: But im a monk!!

Kagebunji

Heh, no worries here, Zozma. And if I will still be bored, I will make Hrist and Silmeria out of it, small edits plus color changes, and both should be ready. I have done a back side view not long ago, it looks strange again as expected. I will post it once I get it over from other comp(this is THE pain)

Really like that portrait, Kage! I wasn't too confident in what I was seeing at first, but this is looking quite exemplary! Keep up the great work!
