Ok basically I don't know who to hack or anything like that but i want to learn how. Could any one tell me what I need and how to get it? I already have an epsx but I just don't know what to do next.

You want to hack sprites particularly? Or just general hacking?

I'm gonna assume sprites, since that's the forum you posted in.

You'll need:
MSpaint (or another image editing program)
Your ripped ISO of FFT
CDMage (download off the main page's miscellaneous downloads) or another CD ripper
Shishi sprite manager (comes with FFTPatcher, which you'll want anyway if you wish to edit stuff other than sprites)
FFTEVGRP (optional. For extracting/inserting formation screen sprites/portraits)

Then, open your ISO in CDMage and rip the stuff in the BATTLE folder. That's all the battle sprites. Get whichever one you want (names are mostly similar to the ones in game... though the japanese names....) and open the .SPR in Shishi.
Once you've got the one you want, file -> export. It'll export it as a BMP file.
Go ahead and edit your BMP however you like, though be sure to not add additional colors. Stick with the 16 (there's two blacks; one's transparent) already in the sprite. You can't edit the palette in MSPaint to my knowledge. (I use Irfanview for my palette editing)
Once you're done, go back to Shishi, open up the original SPR file, and file -> import your new BMP. If it gives you an error and the colors messed up, you didn't stick with the originals most likely. Bad mojo.
If everything looks fine, just save. Your old .SPR file will have been overwritten and you can reimport it to your ISO with CDMage. Once you've done that, save in CDmage and you're done.

Except you don't need CD mage anymore with the newest Shishi.

Go to the Help! section and read my Tutorial, mostly everything Kaijyuu posted is outdated.
I refuse to play Final Fantasy Tactics again until I am able to do my FF6 patch! And, FFT 1.3 doesn't technically count as FFT: so there!

Since this is a help thread I figured I would ask.

Ok so I have the Lioneditor and the FFTpatcher(the one that comes with sprite editor and everything.) and the guide I am reading says to hook up my PSP (DONE) and then double click the exe. file on the lion editor. When I do it says, Please set registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\InstallRoot to point to the .NET Framework installation location.

Im really new to this so can someone explain this?

I really don't know much about PSP... at all... but I DO know that for (all? some?) the programs to work properly, you need custom firmware, which, if I'm not mistaken, you can only get if you haven't updated to a certain version... (3.51 or something like that?? Again, I'm not sure)

I could be completely wrong, and be wasting time for us both, but I'm pretty confident that it sounds like the firmware issue you are having. Try posting in The Lion War general hacking section... I'd imagine you're more likely to find someone with PSP knowledge there.

Yes, you need custom firmware.

Also, CDMage doesn't work for the PSP version. Does anyone have any idea which program to use instead?

There are ways to upgrade regardless of the firmware. That is except for the latest, but it usually only takes a few week for a new CFW to come out anyway. I think that there are still issues with the new PSP 3000, but I haven't looked into it since I still have a 1000 anyway. ^_^
