Plus my high school was like 95% black, 3% Hispanic, & we had the one white guy.

there's just as many % whites in Puerto Rico as there are blacks, latin, and every other mix in between, we even have puerto rican born asians

I have alot of cuban friends too, and some are just as caucasian as I am

there's also cubans with black genetics

Being of mixed ancestry doesn't necessarily mean someone isn't black.

After all, most "black" folks here in the U.S. are mixed, more or less. Of course, this is only in reference to the U.S., as I'm aware that racial lines are more blurred in Latin America. But speaking from an American perspective, being mixed =/= not black.

well... I think if you are mixed you're mixed (and by mixed I mean any combination of genes you might happen to have)

however there are people who you can TELL are mixed by looking at them

there's people you can TELL are straight up caucasian (or as close to 100% as anyone on earth's going to get)

and some people you can TELL are BLACK, NOT mixed

I guess my argument has more to do with the active genes in the person and appearances

 literally, Mulato is the name given to the MIX between african blacks and  european whites

Mulato =/= Black ancestry

and in my book, if you look Mulato, you're Mulato , not black, and not white

The problem I have with calling someone white, black, mixed or anything else under the sun just off of looks alone is that their looks may not convey their ancestry nor does it necessarily coincide with what they consider themselves to be.

As an example, I have a good amount of Native American blood, but I'm certain that if anyone saw me, they wouldn't mistake me for someone of mixed ancestry. And as I've already pointed out, most African Americans are mixed, more or less.

Take a look at this guy on the far left, Walter White:



He looks pretty damn "white," but he had African ancestry and considered himself black. And while he could have easily passed as white and never given a second thought to his black ancestry, he did the exact opposite. All in an era when doing so would have been in his best interests.

For me, classifying someone based on just their looks isn't enough.

Also, I wasn't calling you black. I'd call you Puerto Rican before anything else. Just wanted to add my two cents.

I met a guy once who was white by ancestry but for some reason (genetic probably) was black as fuck. (Sorry for the crude language in that statement but I could find no better way to say it.)
