Don't be hasty to start your own mod; all our FFT modding projects are greatly understaffed. Find out how you can help in the Recruitment section.

Well that sure is a lot!

You can rename it yes, as you'll soon find out modifying text is pretty annoying on its own, but luckily there's a tool for changing general names. You pretty much have to clear after every change so it's not very fast, and in my experience it won't save changes with the AIO targeting the same file, but it's definitely worth using.

-The thing is most changes have to be outright modifications of other things, so stuff like adding a skill slot needs to be taken from a neighboring class indeed. However you can replace any skill with any other skill (from any race) using the dropdown menus to the right, which is pretty handy. This could include support skills in classes you don't want them for, or even combo abilities.

-I don't think I've ever gotten an error out of AIO but regardless, it's probably due to the ability not being assigned to a class, if you replace a skill with your new jump and try it should work just fine.

PS: Question of my own, has anyone ever seen the AI actively avoid attacking targets under Expert Guard while berserk? Just ran into this testing some stuff, they will position themselves close but won't attack at all so long as the guard is up.

I'll probably be looking to update this program pretty soon. Although it looks like darth's editor (Whenever it he releases it) will take care of text quite nicely.
Oh did I mix white and red up?

Are the white characters the ones with "80" in front of them?

I'm not sure about the color difference, I always just ignored it.
Characters displayed as "#s" or "#a" (etc.) are represented by 2 bytes. For example, for text displayed as #P#a#l#a#d#i#n, if you want to change the text you have 2 options.

1. Repoint the text to freespace in the rom - all pointer locations are displayed here, thanks to darthatron: http://datacrystal.romhacking.net/wiki/Final_Fantasy_Tactics_Advance:String_Tables. Find the pointer at that offset and enter the new, free space offset in reverse order.

2. Edit the text where paladin is, but don't go over 7 letters.

To see 2 byte characters, open the table file in notepad. It will show

80BC = A
80BD = B

(those aren't correct)

And so on. Hope I could help, don't have much time.

This tool comes with a table file that will make text visible in a hex editor (windhex is what I use)

The text lies in between each offset.

Having Delita would be overpowered too.
I really love your programs raven. Keep it up.

Probably commentate (voice is not annoying anymore), and make useful tools. I might make some events for fun, but probably no patches. Maybe more utilities to make patches.

I'm sure some of you are well aware of who I am. I've been gone for quite a while (2 years or so), and haven't been active on any website for the most part. A starcraft 2 addiction swept over me, and has been controlling me for over a year. I've changed a lot, and I hope everyone can forgive me for my past. I had a hard time making decisions for myself for a while, partly due to my immaturity.

So I do sincerely apologize, especially to Dome and Eternal. Dome was always a supporter of whatever I did, and so was Eternal.

My best assumption would be the accented letter "a" at display message 03.
Quote from: "DeviousAlpha"Essentially the problem is thus: FFT Easytype/1.3 crashes when run on a PSP with custom firmware. I have begun to narrow the problem down, slowly.

The crashes seem to occur when an AI controlled friendly or enemy unit (ex: Gafgarion/Agrias in the very first battle) wants to use a skill. In the first battle when Gafgarion acts the game crashes. It is fine while he is speaking to agrias, but the moment he goes to move -> sword skill the game crashes.

I know it is only skill related because when the AI wishes to only move and then wait, the crash does not happen. This is not present in FFT complete as I played that until Sweegey woods before deciding to switch to ET. I can load up the Sweegey Woods save (from the Complete playthrough) on Easytype and play that battle. The first goblin who is far away from the party will tend to just move -> wait. While the second goblin who is in range to spin punch Algus (and usually does) crashes the game on his turn.

Any ideas Hacktics community?

Pretty much everything crashes on the psp version. Some people can get it right, but most can't. I'm not a psp master, but thisisstupid (another member of the community) should be able to help you (if he sees the topic).

Quote from: "Eternal248"Thank you to everyone who has played it thus and enjoyed it. This is just a very small taste of what Pride and I have in store. Feedback is always welcome, and feel free to use the Complete Memory Card to play with all the genetic jobs!

If "what you have in store" continues at this pace, I expect a patch very soon. Good work, once again.

Quote from: "Eternal248"Here's the first demo for FFT: Parted Ways- Disk 1! Attached to this post is a folder containing both the memory card and patch needed to play Parted Ways, which is four battles long. The second battle can be either lost or won, but in the final version, it'll be only loseable. There are a fair amount of grammar/spelling/formatting errors, and EVTCHR errors, but those will be fixed in time. For now, enjoy the new classes, skills, and weapons!

I like the name change. Also, great demo! I'm impressed.

Quote from: "Jon"I am unbanned, and I have no idea why Kage is acting like such an ass all of a sudden. I never did anything to him. I won't be contributing anything like sprites here, but I will continue giving crits.

Why won't you do sprites? Are you at insanely derpy?

Next version being made.

ALL text will be in the next one, including storyline, so you can make changes.

QuoteWait lemme get this straight, you come on as new admin and basically dont change anything except make it okay to blaspheme? Are you really Obama New Admin? Cuz thats basically what he's done!

Wait lemme get this straight, you come here to criticize eternals admin-ship? Are you really commenting? You have 3 posts, so don't come and tell eternal how to run  the site.
FFTactext would translate the abilities, characters, weapons, items and things like that. You are going to need Xifanie's event compiler, and decompiler, which can be very hard to get right. It might be easier for translations though.
Quote from: "itoikenza"just started a new thread decicated to my ultimate dream in ffta/a2...:more:help is appreciated!

"Help" is what we are doing. Threads like this are vague, and unnecessary really. Until such is possible, things like this will be locked. It's hard work, and unless you are willing to do it yourself, it is not first on our to do list.
