Final Fantasy Hacktics

Hey guys, for those of you that weren't aware, the Smithsonian is going to be showing a "Videogames as Art" exhibition in their Art Museum soon. To help decide which games to show, they're letting the public vote for the games they think best represent the medium as an art form. You can vote for Final Fantasy Tactics there, as well as a host of other games from each system going back to the early 80s.


You don't have to vote for every game, so I only voted for the games I was familiar with. I also tried to vote for games that I thought would be better representatives of the medium as an art form rather than the games I enjoyed the most. For example, I voted for Earthbound over Chrono Trigger and Zelda: A Link to the Past (tough choice though).

I have no idea if this is true or not, but it would explain the "high" infant mortality rates in the US if it were. Basically, during a conversation on politics, someone said that the reason the US's infant mortality rates are so skewed compared to the rest of the world is because the rest of the world doesn't treat premature babies, so they don't include them in their statistics. But the US will send any under-developed child to the neo-natal unit, sometimes just to be on the safe side. That would make a lot of sense to me, and it would explain why our stats are higher.

I googled it to be sure, and this Wordpress blog post was the number 3 result, after two Wikipedia articles. Not sure which is a more trustworthy source, but even the wikipedia article on Infant Mortality has a section on the problems when comparing two countries' published stats. On one line it mentions a CDC report that seems to confirm this, but the citation links to a WebMD article, yet another bona-fide source of information. Nevertheless, that article does contain some good info like this:

It would stand to reason that the US has more "teens, older mothers, and smokers" having birth, but that's just more commentary on how messed up the American Society is. That Web MD article also has a normalized list of infant mortality rates if you take out premature births, which shows that the US isn't that bad, but still double some of the top European countries.

EDIT: I just realized that Kaijyuu's graph has life expectancy on the right side, not infant mortality, so I just spent the last 30 minutes being randomly off topic.

If I'm not already on some FBI watch-list, I'll be pretty disappointed.

In all seriousness, I watched the the first few videos of fights I've completed so that I could compare how terrible I am compared to a theoretical noob, and yeah, I'm pretty terrible. But in my defense, it did seem like you got lucky more than I got unlucky. Also, your videos are really funny because you have literally no idea what the hell is going on, and you repeatedly point that out to the viewer. All in all, highly enjoyable. I look forward to watching more as I advance through 1.3

Why are you guys being such assholes? I mean sure, R999's inane topics sounded dumb to me (and I literally know nothing about the intricacies of tactics, and it's my favorite game), but I could tell they were all dumb after maybe three posts. And you know what I did? I IGNORED THEM. But you guys are so cool because you're experts on everything, and you made something cool to allow fans of this game to love it even more, so that makes it okay to just shit all over everybody that doesn't know what they're talking about. I mean shit, sure it's your forum and you can do whatever the fuck you want, but why would you want to be an asshole? Oh wait, I know why.

Haha I usually think these types of remixes are really stupid, mostly because they remind me of a college roommate who thought that they (and therefore, he) were so cool, when everyone else hated them. But I thought these were awesome, and they're almost perfect for use in videos like this.

Also, holy crap why couldn't the ninja do more damage in one swipe than the time mage's clubbing?
