Help! / Re: Ability Animation Problems (FIXED)
July 23, 2011, 09:04:52 pm
Haha, thanks for the help guys... just kidding, I'm sure you're all pretty busy. I fixed it myself after finding out it was the formula I was using for some reason... it kept me from using the weapon strike animation. You can close this topic now, thanks.

Help! / Ability Animation Problems (Fixed)
July 21, 2011, 06:53:49 pm
Hi, I've been tinkering around in FFTPatcher, and I've run across an animation problem on one of my abilities. I was trying to change Mustadio's skillset by making some custom abilities for him, and it mostly succeeded, except one problem... the ability I'm having trouble with is a single target ability called Blaze Shot that just uses the Fire effect, I'm envisioning it to be like a Blaze Gun (Glacier Gun, lulz) type attack, Mustadio fires the gun, target gets a faceful of fire. Lame I know, but when I attempt to put this into action, Mustadio simply punches with his fist and the effect appears. For the animations, I simply copied the Weapon Break flags in the animation tab, and I'm sure Weapon Strike is on. I then switched Mustadio's weapon to a bow and sword, and it still uses his fist... here are some screens for you to look at.

Blaze Shot is 0CD, Biora in the screen.

Weapon Strike checked...

Blaze Shot... with a fist.

I also did a search, and I understand certain values for the animations count for weapon strikes... and I also found a fellow who had the same problem as me, but seemed to get the answer to his problems. So my real question is if it's possible? Or if I'm doing something wrong? Sorry if this has been covered before, I've only been using FFTPatcher for a short while. Thanks!

I am Hisui, pink-haired maid of justice and destroyer of evil. With no mercy, I rain down unlimited Lightning Stabs and Night Swords from the heavens. I come from the land of vampires, blonde-haired chicks with Excaliburs, and obscure fighting games from without, and perhaps from within. None can stop me. Oh, and I like FFTactics.

Any questions?  8)

War of the Lions Hacking / War of the Lion's Script
December 23, 2009, 12:41:57 am
So there's been a lot of debate on whether WotL's remade script is better then the original or not, and I just wanted to see personal feelings. It really is a big deal in the end, as (keeping my personal opinions of WoTL away) dialogue can either engross the player, or completely turn them off. So... opinions?

My personal opinion is that the original felt much better, it had this realistic feel to it that, combined with the game's deep view of government and morals, completely sucked the player in for an amazing experience. The dialogue was great, the names were creative, and it had some of the most amazing quotes I have ever seen. Anyone remember good ol douchebag Algus with his "Animals have no God" quote? The translated dialogue of WotL made it feel just like it wanted it to be, a whole new world. To me, this made it feel like it just alienated the player instead of telling a story that would engross them. Plus... this is mainly just personal bias, but seriously, what's with all the "Ser" stuff? Gives me a weird vibe <_<

Oh, and I'm new : D Nice to meet you.
