You have to use FFTacText 4.57, that is the ONLY one working for psp.
Also remember to have a clean ISO, it does not like frequent patching, so make your patch, then when you are done, patch it.

Here is .457:

Also, have a clean ISO, I had the same stinking problem a while back.
I tried it with a clean iso, no prob, then i tried it again 5 min after patching it with tactext, then it failed so...my guess its a one time deal.
Meaning you will have to do EVERYTHING all over again when you wanna change some text, just go with the psx version imo.

PSX FFT Hacking / Changing generics to uniques
September 25, 2011, 03:05:40 pm
So, is there a way to take a generic class and making it unique? Like take Knight and Change it to say Holy Knight, then say Rad and change him to Holy Knight and then later to ninja but he keeps his Holy Knight looks, just like a unique...

Been trying to wrap my brain around it but no luck...

The Lounge / Re: PSP emu for PC

Download JPCSP v0.6 r2308 32bit ;

http://dl.qj.net/psp/emulators/jpcsp-v06-r2308-32bit.html

On a newer computer it works just fine, use these settings;

http://www.emunewz.net/forum/showthread.php?tid=1078&highlight=final+fantasy+tactics

Or get a psp on ebay and put 6.35 PRO B8 (or B9) on it, it's just temp cfw that turns off when you turn off the psp, easy and fast to install and no risk of brikking.

War of the Lions Hacking / Re: PSP Emulator
July 24, 2011, 03:37:05 am
Yes, i wrote about Jpcsp a while back...being based on java it can be VERY slow if you have an old pc plus being java it will use opengl.

Svn 0.6 2227 just got released today, full screen being added and seems to work ok on most games, get the latest updates at QJ.net.

As far as the iso goes, just get cfw or a friend with it and dump the iso, I could tell you to download it if you own it, I assume its legal if
you own it but I'm not a lawyer so I'm not gonna say that. Piracy IS a bad thing and hurts consumers as well as the big companies.
You could always ebay a psp with cfw too, but I wouldnt say its worth it at this point, also note; if you try making a pandora battery,
know there is a chance you will kill your batt and you might even brick your psp trying to put cfw on it.

edit:

Jpcsp 0.6 2284 for download here: http://dl.qj.net/index.php?searchword=jpcsp&ordering=&searchphrase=all&section=0&Itemid=2&option=com_search
Also; You can now have cfw on your psp easily, no need for downgrades or Pandora batteries.

http://dl.qj.net/index.php?searchword=6.35+PRO&ordering=newest&searchphrase=all&limit=20&section=0&option=com_search
Download the B8, more stable than the 9 beta, just update your psp to the official 6.35 then follow the read me, the whole process should take 5 min and almost no risk. You still have to have a psp and the original game though, unless you are a pirate and then you should just diaf.

Yeah 170 is very buggy and tends to freeze early on, get 160.

Also; Make sure to follow this guide for your video setting: http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=7128.0

I have not tried Dissidia yet on it but running FFT WOTL at about 40 fps, just remember that this EMU take ALOT of system resources, kinda funny though, shows you how strong that little PSP really is :)

There are several "mods" for this one being updated all the time, the official version hasnt had a new release in half a year so keep checking QJ.net for unofficial versions.

At least now people here will have the chance to try WOTL and it wil make it way faster hacking since we don't have to transfer to the PSP all the time.

As the title said, some good news:

Yesterday another version of JPCSP was released:
http://www.qj.net/psp/news/jpcsp-v06-r2136-released.html

1. Getting started:

Be sure to have JRE (Java Runtime Environement) installed in your computer
before attempting to run JPCSP.

NOTE: It is strongly advised that even on a 64-bit OS, you should install the
32-bit JRE release and use JPCSP's 32-bit version, for compatiblity reasons.

If you've downloaded the Windows version, use the batch (.bat) files located
inside JPCSP's main folder (start-windows-x86.bat or start-windows-amd64.bat).

If you've downloaded the Linux version, use the shell script (.sh) files
located inside JPCSP's main folder (start-linux-x86.sh or
start-linux-amd64.sh).

If you've downloaded the MacOSX version, just double click the application
bundle to start JPCSP.

2. Loading/Running applications:

To load an ISO/CSO image, you need to place it under the "umdimages" folder
(this folder can be changed under Options > Configuration > General).
For homebrew, place the application's main folder (which should contain the
EBOOT file) under ms0 > PSP > GAME.

To know which games are currently compatible with the emulator, you can check
JPCSP's forum for the latest news and an updated compatibility list post.

The games tagged as "Encrypted" cannot be loaded by regular means. The only
legal option is to own a PSP and use it to decrypt your own games' boot file.

3. Usage:

The "File" menu allows you to load UMD images (Load UMD), homebrew applications
(Load MemStick), and any other file such as demos (Load File). It also allows
to capture and load the current RAM memory and GPR registers' state to a file,
so it can be used as an additional save option (Save/Load Snapshot).

The "Options" menu contains dedicated settings for "Video" (Rotate and
Screenshot), "Audio" (Mute) and "Controls" features, as well as the
"Configuration" menu.

The "Debug" menu contains all the advanced features of the emulator such as the
logger, the debugger and the memory viewer (see section 5. Advanced features).

The "Cheats" menu allows you to apply cheats to the current application.

The "Language" menu allows you to change the language of the emulator.

The "Help" menu contains the "About" window.

3. Command-Line options:

Usage: java -Xmx512m -jar jpcsp.jar <OPTIONS>

  -d, --debugger             Open debugger at start.
  -f, --loadfile FILE        Load a file.
                             Example: ms0/PSP/GAME/pspsolitaire/EBOOT.PBP
  -u, --loadumd FILE         Load a UMD. Example: umdimages/cube.iso
  -r, --run                  Run loaded file or umd. Use with -f or -u option.

4. Requirements:

Minimum:
- OS: Windows 32bit or 64bit / Linux 32bit or 64bit / Mac OSX;
- CPU: Pentium 4 and up;
- GPU: Any graphic card supporting OpenGL 2.0 and up;
- Memory: 1GB RAM.

Recommended:
- OS: Windows Vista / Windows 7;
- CPU: Dual core @ 2.5 GHz;
- GPU: Updated graphic card supporting OpenGL;
- Memory: 2GB RAM or more.

I assume you are using the 160 version right? the newest one is real buggy, PLUS, what kind of bios are you using? Might have gotten a bad one...
Also remember to download Petes graphic plugins, the new Open GL ones.

Help! / Aliste and ENTD
May 17, 2011, 12:38:45 am
How come in 20A (ENTD) there is a character named Wiegraf with Aliste's sprite and job? I know both Aliste and Wiegraf is buggy but this was weird...

Help! / Replacing uniques
May 16, 2011, 10:37:24 pm
So the best way to reduce graphical bugs would be to replace a special like Malak with say Aliste?

Let Malak use his dead sprite in the event scenes (turn off the innate dead) and replace the one scene where he joins with his dead version and turn off join.

Then replace Malak unit.bin and wldface with Aliste and the fight where you fight Aliste, check join after battle plus remember to swap him with Malak. Also use FFTpatcher and tactext to make sure names and skills are correct....

There is no doubt that Malak and Fafa are useless and ugly, don't think I have met anyone yet who actually uses them, but Aliste? He is nothing more than a Beowulf clone, is he really worth it? Who would you put in? This is for the psp version btw.

The Lounge / I'm pissed!!!
May 16, 2011, 09:43:50 pm
Like the topic said.

I used a whole week, night and day redoing my FFT (psx) and I was surfing the webz earlier today and boom, IE closed, then i got this MS Defender popping up saying i had 34 trojans/viruses and I had to buy the product from them to remove it....

Nothing worked, couldnt even install my Norman or open any webpages, task manager was disabled...so I was forced to reformat...again...so now I'm starting over again..just great...

On top of that we are starting foreclosure procedures now, can't afford our house anymore, 4 days ago i was messing around with some wires and ended up frying a circuit board for the old fuse box we hav in the old part of the house...so half my house is dark and powerless now...

But nothing tops losing my just done project, well almost done grrrr!!!

So how are you guys doing?

Help! / Re: Changing Guest unit sprites
May 16, 2011, 04:27:02 pm
Yeah I remember seeing a post about linking a portrait to a sprite but cant find it now....
I have the spreadsheet to see which unit is linked to which in Shishi and FFTEVGRP but no clue how to say link delita chaper 1 sprite with Delita chapter 2 face...
(of course you could just change Delita chaper 1 face with chapter 2 and then do the same with Shishi but that wasnt really what I was trying to say lol)

Help! / Re: Aliste sprite
May 16, 2011, 03:32:45 pm
I had to use 2 Shishis since the newest one doesnt wanna make a correct portrait (doesnt save it with the corresponding palettes) so the face gets all garbled up. Shishi .352 does this fine but for some reason doesnt wanna load sprites from my psp iso, which the .478 does fine...

I'm playing FFT psx on my psp right now and works perfectly with Algus and Delita spries changed....

Help! / Aliste sprite
May 16, 2011, 12:43:14 am
So I took and copied an Aliste.spr from my PSP version, used Shishi .352 and .478, started up epsxe160 and tried my FFT for PSX.
I replaced Malak (the live one) with Aliste sprite, that was it, nothing more, then for some reason i got lots of graphical errors on my other toons....

Anyone know what this is about?
