News:

Use of ePSXe before 2.0 is highly discouraged. Mednafen, RetroArch, and Duckstation are recommended for playing/testing, pSX is recommended for debugging.

I started out with google, which is what led me to this topic from 2021 (https://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=12647.0) and introduced me to this site.  I've been bouncing around looking for an answer to my question, and so far it seems like the answer is "No" but i wanted to be absolutely certain i didn't miss anything, which is why I'm posting-

Is there no save file editor for a Tactics Advance GBA rom?  I'm playing on a tablet, using retroarch's MGBA core.  Specifically, I'm wanting to level up my main characters in their "preferred" job classes (rather than spending early levels in sub-optimal classes).  I initially tried using fast-level cheats, but have tried a number of different codes, none of which have worked.  (i've gotten codes to work in other games, like Ruby/Sapphire, but FFTA remains stubborn.  yes, i'm using region and version appropriate codes).    Edited to add: I I use a standalone MGBA client on my laptop, I can indeed get the level up codes to work; however, the save file created by MGBA isn't recognized by the retroarch version when I transfer it to my tablet.

I've since given up on codes, and am looking for a save file editor, hoping that I can just set the character levels to 99 or give them the experience they need to get there- whatever.  I downloaded the AIO editor linked elsewhere on this forum but discovered that's a tool for modifying the game itself rather than the save files.

If anyone can point me in the right direction (or let me know that my search is indeed fruitless) I'd appreciate it.  Thanks all!

PS: the spamblockers here hilarious.  I literally had to google for "I throw items at enemies"- I kept entering Juggler/chemist even though Ninja is my favorite human class.  Guess I should play more often....
