Help! / Re: (Sighs) New problem...

It might help if you list all of what your abilities settings are; for example, I did a quick test run using the Nameless Song animation (also made sure that the proper bits were checked in the animations tab) with formula 38 (100%) to inflict All or Nothing Don't Move, Shell, and Protect to everybody, and it worked like a charm.

I changed Ramza, Mustadio, and I believe Agrias, but not Ovelia. I don't have any saves from that early anymore, so I'm replaying through to see if I can get it to happen again. BTW, I'm playing the psx version on the psp; normally I use pSX, but for now I wanted the portability of a psp.

No problem :D

I've gotten this message quite a few times as well, but it's usually when I've tried to modify something that has been patched with FFT:C text. It's probably something along the lines of what Eternal said; you probably have too much text in the open.lzw file. If you haven't done it already, I suggest deleting all of the various japanese text that you can find throughout the various sections.

I like that idea... Mossfungus breath sounds amazing. And smelly.

Help! / Re: Sprites Mess up in Cut Scenes

You sure about that? Because when I click on the links to the "sprite files", I only see the first line of the sprites rather than a download prompt.

I've attached the default Chapter 1 Ramza sprite to this post; you can download it and then use Shishi's to import it into your iso. For future reference, it might be a good idea to use Shishi's to export the original sprites before you put in new sprites; that way if you decide later that you don't like the custom ones, you can put the defaults back easily.

Looking at his entry in the ENTD, he still has his original Arc Knight job, including Destroy Sword, but he was given Blood Suck as a secondary, and the AI just seems to consider that good enough to override any other action. At least, as far as I can tell, anyways.

Zombanes, huh? Could be interesting. Giving him a new skillset might be a bit of a challenge, since afaik, nobody actually knows how he fights.

Yes, custom sprites will revert to the original sprites (although still using the custom palette) whenever they perform an action that is not in the custom sprite sheet. AFAIK, there is no way around this.

There is a tool called FFTEVGRP in the downloads section that will allow you to modify the sprites and portraits in unit.bin and wrldface.bin, which are the sprites and palettes used in the formation screen. Be aware that not all characters are in unit.bin and wrldface.bin, for the most part it's only characters who join your party in vanilla. To get custom characters, or characters that don't normally join your party, such as Zalbaag or Chapter 2 Delita, to show up properly requires some hex editing. Also, to get unit.bin and wrldface.bin out of (and back into, once you're done) the iso requires a tool called CDMage, which is also available for download on this site. There's a tutorial around here somewhere that will guide you through all the proper steps.

As for having a lot of money, I think there's an asm hack that might help you along... I don't think there's anything that you can modify in FFTPatcher that will give you more money, although you're free to change the prices of the items in stores so that you don't NEED that much money in the first place. Alternatively, you could just cheat to give yourself a ton of money using a save game editor or a gameshark or some such thing.

EDIT: Also, the massive amount of smilies was completely unnecessary.

Help! / Awkward Glitch?
May 24, 2011, 02:58:47 pm
I just finished the battle at Zaland, and in the scene afterwards (where Mustadio explains Engineers, guns, and such), Ovelia started glowing red for no apparent reason. It was like I was holding square in combat and she was an enemy. Any thoughts on why this might be? It's very strange.

Ha, yeah, he could be Green in chapter 1 and change to White in Chapter 2, or even as late as Chapter 4. I'd probably say he goes white for Chapter 2 though, since his vanilla sprite's change is more dramatic. I mean really, he only gets that kinda retarded-looking cape in Chapter 4 to show his "king" (or "king"-ish, I was never quite certiain there... I think he's more of a Duke during chapter 4 and finally became a king after Altima is defeated when he marries Ovelia) status.
94
Praise in 1.3 works much the same way... It uses the formula 54 ( Hit_(MA+X)% where X is 80) and inflicts status 7B on the target, which has been modified to All or Nothing Defending. I don't see why you couldn't do something range self with CT 0 using formula 38 (100%) while doing the same kind of inflict status.
95
I don't think Olan himself is a spy; he's just a part of the Nanten. He has spies in the Church though.

I don't remember if you can or not... Do you fight Zombag at Igros or Murond? If you fight him at Murond, then you can get Cloud right before you'd revive Zalbag.

I think the biggest point of Orlandu having Libra is so that Ramza's story is more believable to him. Since he's found one of the stones, he and Olan know that there's a plot somewhere in the Church to use the stones to some unknown end; Ramza just fills in the blanks. However, I could see Orlandu believing Ramza nevertheless, given Ramza's possession of various stones, and more importantly, the Scriptures of Germonik. It just means that Orlandu isn't aware of the plot as early as he is, so there's a conversation between him and Olan that would never take place, and I think the dialogue between Ramza and Olan at Grog Hill would have to be modified somewhat.

IIRC, Cancer is also the stone that transforms Dragon Reis to Human Reis; the fact that the battle against Worker 7 immediately precedes the scene where said transformation occurs suggests that Worker 7 possesses the stone (much in the way that Worker 8 uses Aquarius to function), and you take it from him when he's destroyed.

AFAIK, not without some serious asm hacking.
