I thought of another one!

"Highway Robbery" Bed desert or zeklaus. The idea is that the battle contains thieves (4) who start VERY close to you (and by very it could even possibly be adjacent to you, as they would be robbing you). They would need to know most, if not all, of the steal skill set.  One might have item, the rest with either no secondary or as described. RSM are 1: Weapon guard, concentrate, move +2, 2: Abandon, defense up, move +1 (this thief should have a mantle preset, and be female), 3: punch art, Counter, martial arts, jump +2, 4:  HP restore, Maintenance, move HP up, along with sprint shoes and a strong ninja sword. As support, 2 caster types should be in back, White mage and blue mage. The white mage (who is female) should have counter magic, short charge, and move MP up, with black magic secondary, random equips. The blue mage should have some blue magic (whichever way you can give it to him), and geomancy, along with also boasting a heavy armor piece and a MA boosting head piece (probably circlet), with hamedo, magic attack up, Move +2, and having a set shield.

I am completed!

Everything should be handy dandy, and if you see an error let me know and I can fix it post haste. I double checked all the positions, so they are right, but if I missed a map or you want me to add something, let me know.

A few odities though; Ramza learned ultima at finath river from and ultima demon, there was a battle in bed desert with assassins, a 3 way battle in germinas WITH Lezales (which I stole a setiemson from woo!), ran into a squire named Kanbabrif who turned me into liquid,  Lezales and the whole starter crew at zirkile who stomped me into the dirt, and found something called "deep dungeon".

Anyway, enough off topic ranting, here you go.

Double cast with turbo MP is strong. Double cast with summon is still strong, but not nearly as strong without turbo MP. If we could limit double cast to red magic and elementalist spells it would work really well. For now though, removing turbo MP makes the spells much more within the balanced range.

I was thinking about a random, and I came up with two ideas for mandalia plains.

#1. I was thinking about fighting knights from Igros castle. This would be a chapter 2 and after battle, and it would happen coming from gariland.

The fight would consist of knights from igros, patrolling or something. The big deal about these knights is that (you can put however many you want, probably 5-6) they are all tanks. 40 faith, 70 brave, Battle skill with no secondary, HP restore, Defense up, move HP up. They would all having tanking armor (probably just set to random) but have a set shield so they will always have one instead of a defender. This might sound generic, but the idea is that they are almost like guards or something, all the same.

#2. Another mandalia fight but this one is when you come from Igros. It is meager death corps guys still scraping around, available in chapter 1 and on. It would just be generic archer, knight, 2 squires, and a chemist. Just have random equipment, except the chemist must have some kind of dagger (as death corps would not have a gun) and they should have set RSM. I was thinking Arrowguard concentrate move +1 for the archer, weapon guard attack up move +1 for the knight, one squire would have weapon guard defense up and move HP up while the other squire would be female (all other enemies are male) with white magic secondary arrow guard magic attack up move MP up, and the chemist would simply be all random except for the dagger. Random brave, and faith for all.

Quote from: "philsov"I love updated maps!  Just... include a key or something please.  Yellow = East, or something will suffice.

Which is being done, and I should be done all the maps sometime this afternoon.

With regards to random ideas, do they all have to have the fancy names like others have posted? Or would enemies, map, and general map placement suffice?

I got started, and am almost half way done (I hope you don't mind updated maps, it's easier than text notation :) )

Although, funny thing... I never even saw most of the 1.3 randoms, and I am kinda impressed. Fighting ramza, Olan, and then just randoms with tonnes and enemies.

What is weird is that I was doing bervenia, and have been actually just doing the randoms after they are mapped to get some JP for special characters, and Rafa (as a chemist) goes up to the top of the rock to snipe some guys with her magic gun, and I find a materia blade? Is this normal?

Two finals down, two to go. I will probably start after the next final is over (my last is physics and I'm not studying for that joke course), so I wanted to get a quick confirmation on two things.

#1. The maps you want done are:
Mandalia plains (West south east)
Fovoham plains (West south east)
Lenalia Plateau (North south)
Sweegy woods (east west)
Zeklaus desert (East west south)
Bervenia Volcano (North south)
Yuguo woods (East west)
Arauguay woods (East west)
Zirkile falls (East west south)
Barius hill (North south)
Zigolis swamp (east west)
Barius Valley (North west south)
Grog Hill (North east south)
Doguola Pass (East west)
Bed Desert (North South)
Finath River (east west)
Germinas peak (North south)
Poeskas lake (East west)
Doldobar swamp (East west)

Did I miss anything? Also, sorry if I get the east/west or something wrong (as in, what I call east is actually north, sometimes it is just hard to say).

#2. Would you prefer just data on all the maps, like a document with the starting locations in nice bracket notation, or would you like updated map files, or would you like both?

Presumably from this article the bacteria could sub arsenic for phosphorus, although it doesn't say if they tested this bacteria in an all phosphorus and no arsenic environment.

The biggest problem with making larger creatures with this trait is that arsenic is toxic; the microbes can freely parse the arsenic across their membrane to get it in. Humans would have to ingest the arsenic and transfer it throughout the body. Along with arsenic being heavier and having different properties than phosphorus, but if any are of the body came into contact with the arsenic that couldn't withstand it, it would not work. We'd also have to get blood to be able to carry arsenic with no negative effects. So this idea, while fanciful, probably will never happen.

As for lead and mercury, I forget exactly what they do, but I know that the damage your nervous system pretty bad, which maaaaakkkkkeeesssss yooooouuuuuu sssssllllloooooowwwwwwww. Remember kids, don't suck on the mercury thermometer.

Quote from: "philsov"1) Random battle mapping.  So far I've gone through all the maps in the game and given images proper X/Y coordinates for ENTD editing ease -- Zodiac's maps, while awesome for all other applications, suck from a perfectly vertical view which is how I do things sadly.  I've also noted default party starting locations for all storyline fights.  But, I have yet to note where the party spawns for all random fights.  For example, I know where Mandalia East (save Algus) starting points are, but I don't know the location in terms of X/Y of how the party starts out from Igros (West) or from Thieves Fort (south).  I can provide an endgame save that has the map unlocked if you need.  With this info I can also release these maps for anyone else's ENTD editing ease.

This is something that is time consuming, but I just might be able to grind and help with. Although, I have 2 questions:

1) Do you mean all the starting positions you can choose for your party members during the loadout screen? Like, the 8 spaces in Sweegy woods, all being marked by individual x/y coordinates? IE, Saying the starting position for a map would be (14,5) (14,6) (14,7) (14,8) (14,9) (15,5) (15,6) (15,7) (15,8) (15,9)?

2) Do you have a link to the easy to read vertical maps?

I will be able to do this, and give out random ideas (although it may take time for me to get started, as finals are a few days away) on ENTD randoms, so as long as there is no rush I look forward to helping.

Unless you are eating appleseeds by the truck load (which contain arsenic, and the amount of arsenic would kill you even without the bacteria), Kaijyuu is absolutly right. The virus could not replicate properly, and would simply turn back into the common cold.

A better use would be to make a virus which uses arsenic and attacks arsenic bacteria, in the even of some crazy outbreak of bacterial population.

Hey philsov, is there anything that you would need assistance with this patch? I would love to see this finished, so if there is anything I can do to help, let me know...

If/when this patch is complete, would there be some kind of master guide available? I only ask because while the growths are very straight forward, the multipliers haven't been set in stone yet, and I am wondering if that kind of information we would have access to.

1. Ramza could have better growths (a little) better multipliers (again, a little) and the regular squire stats, possible a change to the useless scream, but she should not become some special class. He is a squire. Remember, calculater would be really hard to balance, so it was replace by sage. Ramza doesn't need to be a special swordkiller because he is ramza; the only reason he could have better growths and equipment is because he actually grows in the plot and story, it would make sense.

2. This is a fantastic idea, enemies 10 levels higher than you at barius hill is stupid.

3. No, this adds difficulty and would make steal completely useless (except for charm). Besides, if the enemies are your level, you shouldn't be level 50 in chapter 1.

4.Why should we stop someone from doing  a super duper amount of grinding just to make chapters 1 and 2 easy, and then lose in chapter 3 and 4 when they start having set equips? Just because you can do it does not mean a player WILL do it.

5. No comment.

6. Sure, why not.

7. Special characters should have a special growth specific to their class. This would make them more specific to their own niche, but less versatile, meaning generics won't be completely outclassed. Malak doesn't have to be a ninja; why can't he be some kind of mage type like rafa? He could be a faster mage while rafa could be a stronger (have more PA) mage?

Edit: Nobody uses Malak and claims his untruth sucks. Yet everyone has trouble at Riovanes castle hell knights. Malak does not need a change, people just don't use him right.

8. No Comment.

9. Don't care, it hasn't seemed to be necessary.

10. I am in support of this.

11. Never used monsters, no comment.

12. Unless they add a large amount (+20ish) it really would not be worth while to waste a turn raising brave or faith, especially when you have faith rod. <3 Faith rod.

13. That means MORE grinding on Malak and rafa and orlandu and anyone you get after, meaning more time not having fun. Do not support.

14. If the stats stay the same, why does it matter if it is growth or multiplier?

Quote from: "StarScythe"Great a bacteria thats actually made of poison... just what the world needs. Lets hope the common cold doest adapt this, cause then were all screwed.

The common cold is a virus, and unless it infects these specific bacteria (which it shouldn't as it is not a bacteriophage) the common cold will remain exactly the same.

I think this is awesome news. More biochemical pathways and development tools will meant that life can exist in more complex forms that we thought and more extravagant and strange places. Hooray for science!
