I shall make custom portraits for the first place winner. You can use it for your event prize, if you win.

But only of more entries come below this post.

Hopefully now this thread wakes up.

I say all the masterful spriters/artists here around now should help me out to contribute their versions and workstyles in this thread as part of the tutorial. After all, it's a paragraph and a few step-by-step pictures what's needed for each topic.

(Twin/Lijj/Kage I am looking at you)

Well, you seem to be doing allright on the faces. Not so much on the hair and clothing departments.

It's lacking depth. The color palletes on the hair have their colors too similar, that you can't distinguish them so from afar. Like a flat blob of a flat color, especially on Hyuga and Fred.

It's a common mistake, so don't worry about it. What you should do to fix them is to take from an official already existing portrait and borrow their colors. Go look for someone in FFT who has black, orange and white hair and use those color sets.
Never, and I say NEVER, make up your own pallete, if you're starting out. Borrowing is the way. Same for the clothes. Have a rule of thumb to never modify ANY colors. Work with existing ones always.

Once you do that we can move over to the actual shading. Try emulating the pixelwork of FFT by having references close always, look at them all the time, then look at yours, and keep working until yours can fit in the group of official portraits seamlessly, or as close as you can.

Every time you make a fix, post it here so we can help you out.  :)

She looks like Lady Margaery Tyrell form Game of Thrones.  :)

The pixels themselves are good, if not a little too smooth. Eye-to-mouth distance could be longer too.

Let me update my portraits.

In order:
Eleanor Garanthir, Alicia, male Knight, male Dragoon
Lord Clarion Gunvald, Lady Eydis Gunvald, Liege Lord Halldor Gunvald, Zombie.
Special thanks to Jumza for the Dragoon. Mine's just a tweaked version of his original.

Looks that you have a well-thought story planned for this characters. Even the names sounds cool.
If you are working in a stand-alone game, i am sure that it will be great. (at least in storyline and spriting)
Please share if you can fulfill it!

Fixed. ;)

None. They got no chins, boy. :P

Number two needs some fixing, but it could be easily the best of the 3.

Can I have a go at it?

Hopefully all of them will.

And these are just 5 of 20 (6 with my avi) of the sprite/portrait batch im planning for a project of mine.
The sprites on my signature are that of Eleanor and Sir Alistair Agnarsson, the latter has no portrait yet.

So, hopefully all of them will.

What it would do is set up a mechanical system in the forum for popularity wars and karma whoring just like it does on every other forum that uses such a system.

Does post count not do this in a way?

"I have a superior post-count, I am a veteran. I am better than you and I will act the part."

But I agree. It would take away from the topics themselves by being a distraction. Not to mention a mob rule regarding rejection.

You got us waiting all for this..? Quite innacurate, I must say, then..

Surely you haven't been here long.

THIS is what happens everytime there has been an argument in FFH

Trust? Meh.
Thing they have mythical creatures, lizard-man, ability to heal cancer, did 9/11 or did the boston bombing and shit? No.

I believe in the principle of common sense and research, and I must say, the government is as trustworthy or credible as the bunch claiming lizard men control the world.

Why? Because I've done my research.

The world out there is full of mixed messages and half-truths, and from it you take what sounds right. From what Koko said, I can say that I know that many in the alternative community have developed natural cancer treatments and have been supressed for doing so. Doctors have lost their licenses. About 9/11, the whole thing is unrealistic as fuck and the evidence does not support the official story. As an architecture student, I myself have been engaged in discussions with professionals themselves who have participated in a group called 'Architects and Engineers for 9/11 truth'. Look up the documentary of the same name and prepare to have your mind blown.

Boston bombings? Riddled with inconsistencies, fake gore looking images, and shady behavior from the FBI, which ended up in police state being rolled over a million Boston residents while looking for a kid.

Now, to believe that 9/11 is a false flag -does not- mean you have to believe in lizard men or mythical creatures, or are in the same bunch or league.

God-fucking dammit.  It's like, people inmediately respond by placing you in boxes like -conspiracy nut- or so when you just touch a specific topic. Don't think, listen or have an intelligent conversation. No. Just judge and move on with your ignorance. After all, it said so in the news, they say.

Or you can just do your research and connect the dots yourself.. Which many of us are doing every day and in greater numbers. Was it the terrorists, or was it the aliens, or maybe the government? You decide.

Many seem to agree on the latter, though.
