i like the female summoner dress without the cape, especially one of the color palettes it has a deep red wine color.. im thinking of giving that to lavian with some longer hair...

but they are accessible if you use 5E and 5F as initial jobs.... my idea was that we could use the two sprite for custom sprites but they dont seem big enough...

in this picture it is more than 16 colors because of the brown on the dress. however the legs need to be redone anyway i knew that before i posted it. anyway that brown wont be included in the final sprite.

its all about color shading, yes i have several shades of red for the hair but its also part of the skin. the white gloves and shoes also have a shade of the skin tone in them as well.

its getting better...

so i heard someone mention making Rad Alicia and Lavian have special jobs... i heard mention of rad as a red mage and alicia as a mystic knight and lavian as maybe a necromancer?

well i at least like the idea of the mystic knight so im going to give alicia a BIG makeover what do u think? still got alot of work to do but still..

In reality the sprite is inspired by Misty from saga frontier two.

to be honest i think the best thing to do is take simons outfit and use that head with the matching portrait. based on the existing portrait id say you could create the proper color palette for it. simon's appears to be the closest matching of the high priest type outfits. is it worth taking one of the sprite slots? who knows... no one probably notices these two sprites because the actually dont have a color palette at all but anyway... aside from that the sprite files aren't quite the full size of a full battle sprite, more than the commoners and mourners but still not everything.

if you rename deleta's 3rd job from "Arc Knight"
to "Lord" you have enough text space to change ramza's second squire job "Mercenary" and one letter short of the third ramza's "Heretic" after putting mercenary in place that is.. i did rename algus's job to "Fencer" but its the same amount of letters as Squire so....

i donno what they were for, and i don't have the right palette for the priest there so i used olans but the guy most likely has black hair or dark brown.

as for all the crap around them? i donno maybe something to do with compression?

ah well... im sure ill do something with them

anyway.. more to add to the jobs section

3A= Celia (this empty job slot uses her second identical sprite)
sprite names: H83.spr and Seria.spr

3B= Lede  (this one also uses a second identical sprite)
sprite names: Arufu.spr and Ledy.spr

-------unused sprites----------------
5D= (this uses the Dami.spr if used as a job)
5E and 5F (use kasanek.spr and kasanem.spr an unfinished cloud and an unfinished priest. sadly they did not leave the entire sprite size sigh...)
----------------------------------------
but what the heck? 5D is the mime job as well how would one go about getting use of the Dami sprite with its own job attached? and for that matter how would i go about creating a job where a character looked like a mime permenantly without being a mime or without any glitchy side effects? i hope theres a way or will be...?

haha thats exactly what i used to do all during history class! i got pretty decent at miniature anime doodles. anyway, don't try to do it completely from scratch, look at the picture and then think what you want to do with the hair and stuff around the face. then just slowly build off of what you have already, zooming out every now and then to see how its developing.

yeah i'm not sure how to change the hand raising thing, but you can assign the gfx to another spell that does that animation. those slots are great for another type of skill tho... i made elmdor's sword spirit skills use the katana skill without drawing out a katana. now his skillset works yay just need to be able to re name...

also for slots with spellcast animations i think having 3 bios, 4 bio2s, and 3 bio3s is a waste! i brought it down to the green versions of bio1 2 and 3 adding more status effects. and im using the other slots for whatever i want they all have the magic casting look. another one that does is the empty space below "meteor"

as for expanding size... it would be so awesome... i really don't want to have to sacrifice one effect for a new one when they are all so nice :D i actually think that would come in handy for sprites as well some of them cant hold any data after the portrait.

i've got a question... i wan't to make the 4 divine swordskills able to hit monsters... without taking away their ability to destroy the equipment... how do i go about this? ive tried changing the formula to 25 which is the knights break... it works but it will not display the sword skill gfx it just shows a long distance slash.... i want the real deal without having to add a non break skill to the set or take away the gfx... anyone know this one?

here is another one, the box ive circled is checked for skills like truth and un truth where even if the skill hits an empty panel it still shows the spell gfx.
with this checked any spell will still show its gfx even if there is no target on the selected panels...

my bad, here you can see images of all the effects
http://dotchan.com/fft/effects.html

and in the data section of this wonderful site auritech you can see all the true names of those effects! also here you can have this too its a bit bright green but its a color changed version :D

i think it would be awesome if some day it were possible to alter the size of the empty skill slots that are just 0 without totally destroying the game...

Zodiac i have a suggestion too because without the use of the already made portrait of "Celia" the assassin this portrait of "Lust" would never exist.. and i think i did a pretty decent job for the time it took...
i don't know if they look anything alike to you but a few pixel changes here and there and you've got a totally different character... and it matches more closely with the scheme of the game that uses certain blends of colors...

well i changed the colors by using this "snespal" program... after opening the effect file i scrolled thru all the boxes of color till i saw a pattern of same colors.. there are alot by the way, and tho i am certain there is a much faster way to do this i do not have the tools to take the image out of the bin file and put it back in after photoshop or whatever.... but for what it is worth, as long as the file fits into another effect file with the same height and width pixels, with this you can at the very least create re colored effects... imagine a bloody red galaxy stop? or a blue night sword etc.... but to add after hearing mention of the quake and stuff.. yes i hope to create a set of wind and earth spells and if enough space allows water as well.. im really hoping to take the leviathan spell someday and turning it into the fouth spell in the dimension magic set to have all 4 true elements. quake, melt, tornado, flood. im going to reduce the number of bio spells to the 3 green ones with multiple random status effects and use the other slots for my wind and earth...

but anyway, this thing is what i used...

so okay ive figured out that if you insert one effect over another that has an image of the same size pixels it will function properly...

what good would that be you ask? well for example bio 2 has four of the same spell just different color... but what if i take a recolored spell like "gusty wind" change it from blue to green and then paste that effect in bio2's place? well i have just created a new effect and spell "Aero" :D cool...

im just wondering i see that someone has extracted the images from those effects... however how do you insert them back into the effect file? all i have the ability to do is recolor and paste over other effects of equal or lesser file size...

its called KASANEM.SPR

go on use the sprite editor and give it another characters palette just to test it... i donno but of the priest guys he wouldve been the coolest looking one..
