PSX FFT Hacking / Re: Miscellaneous Tricks & Tips
February 26, 2013, 11:21:49 pm
So you're saying we can't change the Skill-sets in the Skill-sets tab for FFTPatcher for  Item, Throw, Draw Out, Jump, & Geomancy?? Is there not a fix or work-around for this?? I just recently changed a bunch of skills in those sets.....

Really cool ideas man, I am going to implement some of them into my personal patch. Check out this idea I have: Do away with the class associated armor equip. So mages and priests can wear armor, etc. HOWEVER the penalty for wearing armor is loss of movement speed. Doesn't this make more sense? If something is magical, it can go through buildings and clothes and armor... why should magic users be penalized from getting more HP? Furthermore, if you are wearing heavy armor which gives you more physical protection, wouldn't it be more difficult to MOVE and JUMP around?? Another idea I have for the sake of increasing realism is to give all players more HP but drastically reduce the effectiveness of potions and phoenix down. I mean what is a potion? Water or juice? If you just got smacked in the face with a sword there is no apple juice on earth that will help you recover to full health. Giving more HP at the start will make the battles last longer and each attack more meaningful. This increases the depth and strategy of the game. Worth a shot?

Wow this looks like a really cool project you are all working on. I never knew there was a huge underground game-creating community! If you need an extra tester I can play along and look for balance issues and bugs, let me know. Quick question, I just started using the FFTPatcher... whats the fastest way to jump from the Patcher to in-game to test the changes I make? I'm using FFTPatcher version 482 and I know how to save changes to the ISO but how do I jump directly into a specific battle to test my experiments for balance and bugs? Thanks!

Tutorials and Learning / Re: Tutorial Requests

@ Ramza, You are trying to save games on your emulator? Look here at the Download Utilities and insert the extracted plug-in inside the proper folder :) http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/psx/psxplugins-tools.html

.... Ok so I figured out my above question partially, but do you know of a way to quickly jump from the FFTPatcher to the game in order to test certain battles?? For example, after making a change in the ENTD tab of the FFTPatcher, can we jump right into that specific battle to experiment our tweaks? Thanks!

Help! / Are you using a controller for FFT?
February 21, 2013, 11:24:06 pm
Hey everyone! Are you all using controllers for you FFT ePSX emulator? Or the keyboard? I"m trying to get my Madcats Xbox 360 controller to function with the ePSX emulator while playing FFT... I've tried downloading a few different plug-ins and extracting them into the plugins folder for FFT and it shows a game pad configurator but when I launch the emulator the the game pad selection button is grey and is un-selectable. Any help? Thanks

Wow looks great for you man, I don't know why its not working for me. I followed all your guidelines and have the same video converter Pete's.
53
Nevermind I figured it out thanks. Even tho it gives an error, it still saves it as the correct bytes so that now the bytes match. Heads up for you other noobs  ;)
54
Ok thank you for the reply. I am now watching the video by Xiphanie (incorrect spelling probly) and following her instructions but when I attempt to change the bytecount using HxD hex editor it gives an error: Out of memory. Fix? Thanks
55
If someone can please help... So I downloaded HxD editor and followed her instructions but when I try to increase the bytecount in the hex editor it gives an error: Out of memory. WTF? Please help.

Ok this is a great video and I did learn a little about using the PPF Studio but honestly she goes over things very fast. Is there another program other than WinHex that we can use that we don't have to purchase for $50 in order to save!!?? She says things like "just get your favorite hex editor" as if we noobies know what we are doing. Please explain things more for us noobs and slow down. Ok my rant is over... now im going to look for a hex editing program that will save information like she does in her video..... Cheers. Much love.

How about when you use a certain Item it will cast SLOW on your self, thus giving you a kind-of negative CT.

Help! / Re: How do you convert PPF to FFTP?
February 21, 2013, 04:14:20 pm
How do we apply the FFTP file to a patch? I made the changes using FFTPatcher, saved to get the FFTP file, now how to apply that file to the ISO or Patch?? Thanks! I followed your first 5 steps or so... then got stuck on this one.
60
Hello, I have a FFTPatcher question. Once we have made changes inside the FFTPatcher, how do we apply those changes to the ISO and then check those changes to make sure they're working properly?? At the top of the FFTPatcher we see FILE  and PSX drop down menus which have SAVE PATCH and PATCH ISO. If I save patch, it saves as a fftpatch file... do I need to convert that into a PPF file? Or how do I do that? Also is there a quicker way of checking those changes? Thanks in advance!
