Is pure black the correct color to have as transparent on these bmps instead of white? I don't know how to mess with the palette, I'm just trying to save them as 16 bit bmps through Photoshop. Apparently that isn't doing the trick. You have any suggestions of programs to help me with this as a Mac user?

Kyari hav you made any additions or adjustments to your Female Red Mage since the last time you posted a pic of it here? The portraits are a real pain to get looking good.

Hey Zodiac are you able to post this as an SPR file? I will be happy to make any adjustments you need to it. I still just can't get Melonhead's program to open on my computers yet.

Kyari I'm really like the look of your female Red Mage. I'm impressed that you chose to do a completely different hat design. The color choice is definitely what I was thinking for my attempt at a female Red Mage.

This is really cool stuff about the weather conditions. It is pretty crazy that they have all these weather conditions for maps, and then didn't use many of them. Are there any settings for snowy weather, or is snow only on the specific levels that have snow normally?

Hey Melonhead or Zodiac. Do either of you know how exactly the sprite sheets are partitioned. Like could you create an example sprite sheet with a grid showing how much space each body piece can potentially take up? It would be helpful in creating more complex sprites without lots of testing.

Quote from: "Chrona"It's a .rar, you need WinRar to see it. I'll do a quick ImageShack

Zodiac did you do this custom sprite? As mentioned before it needs some touchups, but I think the overall design is solid. Do you think it would be fine for you or someone else to finish this guy up and use him as the male blue mage?

I would definitely be happy to see what you came up with.

Quote from: "NeXaR"So... do you have an scheduled time/date for the new forum to go public? Just so I don't keep returning to the main page and clicking on the forum link  :D

Geez, don't...

I can't move the forum to the other server. There no going around it for now so until I start checking hosts again we'll stick with byethost. >_>'

Well that is a bummer. Good to know that we can feel free to continue posting here though. Is there an option where we will get a new good/inexpensive host, but will loose all of our information here?

Well I finally got CDMage working so that I can finally actually see my custom sprites in action (note: use the latest CDMage Beta version 1.02). So now that I have seen the Red Mage in action I have a few concerns and wanted to know if anyone else had notice. I replaced the male squire with my Red Mage and I noticed that if he was taking a knee from an injury there was a little brown line above him if you saw him from the front. Also while doing a sword attack there was a huge red line above him (not sure from what angle). It is clear that this is due to the fact that different parts of the sprite are running into eachother space.

I was wondering if anyone else was having difficulties with this and if it had to do with my inserting the sprite incorrectly, the fact that I replace it with the squire, or if I have to adjust the placement of the sprite?

UPDATE: I figured it out. The bmp that was converted was one pixel lower than it should have been, my bad. This can be updated and fixed once I have a portrait to included as well.

Okay here is a finished version of the female Blue Mage. I haven't tried doing a face scarf yet, I just wanted to get this one out so people could try her out. Hopefully this is in a better format to insert into an spr. I still don't have the capability to do that so if anyone is willing to do that and post it that would be great.

She looks pretty good overall, probably needs some adjustments on her mask after I see it in action. My big concern is about her attack animations. There was a big different in where the two bodies I was using lined up, and I'm afraid that when she attacks her arms are going to be attached. But it will be easy to fix with a little testing.

Quote from: "Zodiac"No, but it doesn't look like it will matter anymore since Daki can't upload my database.

Hmmm, that doesn't sound good. You have a plan and are we going to just keep using this one for now?

I finished my female Blue Mage. I'm just waiting for the forum to change servers before I post it.

Quote from: "Suikojin"Someone mentioned this place on my forum and I am here. So people are spreading your word of FFTness...?

But I know nothing of hacking and can only comment on what you guys do. I am just a fan of FFT. I'll be as active here as I can.

Good to see you made it Suikojin.

That is actually quite the result, especially for a complex event like the opening. I believe that FFTPatcher or one of the other programs has some power around unit placement and event scripts such as having all the characters on the map from the beginning and not walk in, so the problem encountered here might be really easily fixed. So the map looks a little garbled, is that just the angle?

I'm glad you are making so much progress on this project Gomtuu. I still haven't been able to devote enough time to getting this working yet, but I'm still really excited about this. Do we know enough about maps to have one of the ones that wasn't used in the game for a battle used for one for one (aka having a battle on the boat)? Oh and were are the textures for the tiles stored?

I should be able to finish the blue mage by the end of the week. Or at least something that can be shown off in some way. Maybe also incorporate that custom revive spell and actually show the Blue Mage learning a skill after being attacked by a monster.

It looks like I didn't loose any quality. The colors that were out of place got replaced correctly and it looks good. Thanks Zodiac for doing that for me. I will try saving stuff as bmp from now on if that makes the process easier.

How do I designate the 9th palette row? Is there a specific format of bmp I should be saving to? I'm still very new to the sprite editing scene.
