Ran in to this one yesterday and the new Chocobo healing mechanic makes it so that high health chocos can full heal their friends making grinding their HP a chore.

That's good to hear, and trust that I'm absolutely loving the game. Its just the right difficulty to make you think, though some of the randoms are sadistic, The characters are fun and well thought out. The replayability is high even with only one chapter, and I'm genuinely excited and thankfully to you guys/gals for taking the time to let this labor of love come to us. The idea of replaying the enhanced Ch.1 when the Ch. 2 release comes out is actually something I'm looking forward to since I was planning on doing a job progression focused replay anyway.

I found 3 spots where I think I can troll JP pretty easily. My goal is to have both Snake and Ramza with comet at Lvl 12 or 13, having Dante with 1-handed sword skills and Knight healing skills, having link with flare and his Adventure skills, and Cloud with all Limits and Monk skills (Equip Light/Heavy Weapons obviously so he can get off the Limits). I figure that this will KO Clouds Nemesis in 2-3 turns  :lol:

I gave dimentionalist to Snake and it is working out great for me. Comet not being tied to faith for damage is wonderful and books being both long range and giving a MA boost allows him to assassinate from a distance. Comet might be broken but once you level up above 23-25 and the big opponents get to 300-400 HP the 100 per shot is almost needed.

Oh and don't hit plagues with Meteorain. It counts as a spell and Double Magic with a large AOE, that is unevadeable, and hits the players WAYYYYY harder than it hits them will be coming right for you... Ouch!!!

Just know that I'm making these all-but ridiculous asks for 2 reasons. 1 its good fun and hopefully will start conversation, 2 to provide some potentially outside the box ideas. Your absolutely right, I have very little concept on how any of this would get implemented, just a basic understanding of code framework and enough knowledge about the game to be dangerous. Sometimes coming up with things when you don't fully understand the limitations can bring about a less constrained set of ideas than when you are thinking about what you can't do. I hope I'm not annoying everyone.

Molitovs? I'm half-trolling now but I'm doing it is good fun. Back to the DT thing and this is pure conjecture so just take my outside the boxness for what its worth.

Battle starts with a persistent spell on Dante. This is a Doom Style counter, or any other CT based effect that takes away access to an action, similar to Don't Act. Once the timer resolves the DT option is opened up. The effect of this gives him the physical change (these are called all the time, Toad, etc.), and Quick, Haste, PA is increased by 25% rounded up, move increased by 2, jump increased by 3, Evasion increased by double base amount, Critical chance increased by double, and all Devil Style attacks cost 0 MP. This will last for 3 rounds then upon being resolved would put Dante into "Shock" basically rendering him with slow, 0 MP, half on remaining HP rounded up, and Don't Act for 2 rounds.

Again just captain fanboy here. But on a more serious note, I have downloaded all of the prereqs and read a lot of the documentation but am a little stalled on getting started on things could I get on live chat with one of the mods and ask some direct questions about starting out on pulling this monster apart?

These have all been tough but manageable battles thus far, save a few randoms that I was not ready for. my big issue was not diversifying my damage abilities and not having enough hard hitting AOE attacks, especially magic based ones. Smart hitting and good use of the revamped regen have been keys for me.

Worst one was 3 mixed mindfayers, 3 mixed evil eyes, and 3 mixed skeletons. I was not ready for that one...

Sure, good points, and while I appreciate the answers about the duel range and H2H I'd like to debate the others about Link's sword ability and the availability of supplies for Snake to make things go boom, however, I know that I am simply a fanboy and don't want to be a bother to those who both know more about the game mechanics than I nor do i generally what to argue on the internet... Thanks again for the work.

First off, Thanks for doing this. As a noob to this community I feel I've missed out on something that I've been wanting Square to do for years now and low and behold you industrious folks have been making it happen for a long time now. My desire was to see the FF4 team (fond memories) brought into the Tactics world. The JOT5 has been a wonderful playthrough and I'm nearing completion of Chapter 1 and already can't wait to see what you have in store for Ch.2 and beyond. If I could be so presumptuous as to make some suggesitons for things that I feel both could work into the game mechanics as well as be fun Easter eggs about the characters I'd love to see Dante with an ability to equip both a one handed sword and one handed projectile weapon at the same time, this could provide a great support ability for the Son of Sparta Job; call it Gunfighter or something, it would also allow Dante to have several more of his abilities available to him in fight (both gunslinger and swordmaster) the attack mechanics would basically be dependent on the range selected as the determiner of the weapon used. Second is more minor give Link a blade beam type ability to shoot from the tip of his weapon like in LOZ1 (Maybe a Master Sword mod if that is in the cards for future chapters). I love the Materia angle that your using, would love to see DT for Dante be a thing that you can trigger as a player, thinking a persistent spell type with a counter for both availability and then for activation. Calymore mines for Snake would be a nice touch too (Set Trap ability). Anyway it is fun being a Monday morning Quarterback and I absolutely love what you guys are doing, please keep it up, and as I do some system development and programming myself I'd be more than happy to start learning the right things to be helpful so please reach out if I can assist in some way.

New Project Ideas / Re: Red Wings Project

Totally new here, and I have been thinking about how great it would be to see some of the favorites from the big FF releases over the years make their way into an FFT style game for years. Vincent and Tifa circa FF7, Tidus and Yuna FFX, and a number of characters from FFIV so when I stumbled onto this a few weeks ago after seeing a JOT5 video on youtube I immediately wanted to look into if people have do work around any of these titles. Your Idea here intrigues me but it seems to have gone dark for several years... Is this still in the works? A prequel to FFIV would be awesome, what you have here is the events at the very beginning of the game. Which means that if you have the ambition to do so it could go back even further and develop the Dragoons with Kain, The Village of Mist and the Summoners. The exploits of the Dwarves, and the events that lead to the crystals being split among the cities in the first place could all be imagined and put into a great format. If you are still working on the project please let me know, if not I'd be willing to help reignite the torch.
