I have almost no desire to use either spell or stone guns because of the nerfs. Spell guns were much needed to be nerfed though, but I agree with Silentkaster on maybe allowing the stone gun to be 6 range. I think with the equip shield it can lead to be a little bit OP still, depending on the build you choose. 6 range gives it something a little more desirable without really making it OP.


And I still think a small buff to elemental would be nice. Maybe even just PA+3/2*MA so you can make use of an odd PA point if you use an item like say Mystic Blade that gives the +1PA/MA which a lot of people run on geomancy focused builds. It's rounded down anyways so if you didn't have the odd PA point it wouldn't even make a difference in damage output (correct me here if I'm wrong).
Elemental/Counter Flood have been my favorite skill and reaction ability since Vanilla and I would like to see it be slightly more useful even if that means it only is doing ~20 more damage with certain builds.

In order to run an effective elemental unit you almost need a bard/mime combo on your team to buff the unit and also run focus/accumulate which really limits your options for other skills if you're going for maximum damage geomancy (which obviously it certainly is not the best option out there for a team). Idk, it likely won't happen but I just would like to see it used more often.

I think earth clothes and battle boots while running earth slash on your monks is a good option. 4 move is important on your two main damage dealers. Your time mage has 4 move and your chemist has 5, you want to ensure they stay together if possible by all having 4-5 move. Also, healing staff on your time mage for the 10 speed then switch up the Sprint shoes to maybe setiemson/cherche or maybe magic ring for silence protection, +1 ma and the earth/holy absorbtion which will also heal you with earth slashes. Lose float for move mp up and change your reaction to something besides the mp restore, maybe auto potion? Whatever you see fit is fine. Unyielding or def/magic def up on the chemist and i think your team will be solid. Thats just what i would do personally, its your team so feel free to do what you find appropriate. Note that there isn't anything 'wrong' with your team how it is currently. Just a few tweaks that I think would improve the overall functionality of your team.

I suppose Defense Ring was something I forgot.

I think that will likely suit my ninja well. I do like the dracula mantle for the evasion though. Got some thinking and testing to do still.

So quick question for my ninja on my tourney team:


He is currently running sprint shoes and is super weak to berserk. This leaves me two options to protect against it in the accessory slot: dracula mantle or reflect ring. Dracula mantle for the evasion? Or reflect ring for the ability to bounce spells/make him unable to be hit by enemy spells? Not sure which would be more beneficial since these are my two options currently.

Overall my team performed well. I think I may throw a dracula mantle on the ninja for the berserk protection and decent random evasion. I do like how the 12 speed ninja and archer sync up well together though. Berserk protection is a must though so.. that will probably happen
Samurai will likely be changed into a scholar with summon magic. Rime bolt, bio 2, moogle, fairy, shiva, something like that. I llike the Samurai though because sometimes she decides to cast bolt spells and hits for 300 damage which is fun but it is almost always more practical to go for a hurt/heal combo with the ice absorb going on.
Archer will stay as is. Was considering throwing a non-elemental bow on him but if the enemy does resist the ice, he will do his job good enough with breaks and arm aims aswell as friendly healing with the ice bow.
Oracle might get gokuu rod? For innocent procs making the -ton more effective and the nether spells (which would be gone if the samurai is switched out to another unit... maybe samurai with lore secondary? Though she would lose the ability to revive if I ran her with summon magic..

Idk. The team has some obvious kinks to work out but overall performs very well and mostly how I want to. I appreciate the match ups. I will be defiantly be more prepared for the tourney now.

FFT Arena 1.39C: Mudvayne 'Death By Snusnu' vs Silentkaster 'OHKO'

Made edits on all 4 units of this team so decided to re-run and record this matchup that silentkaster posted a few days ago. Hoping this time around I give him a better run for his money   :cool:

I like this team much better now after the edits. Before I thought it was by far my weakest team, and now I'm not sure what I think. Would love some opinions on the team, as always.

If it means getting a few more participants I have no problems leaving the registration open for the tournament for a few more days. But if we do leave it open and aren't getting many more entries I have no problem doing the tourney with 10-12 teams instead of 16.

I think Elemental should get just a slight boost to its formula. PA+4/2*MA sounds a bit better without making it too OP.

I love Geomancy and think it's an excellent skillset, it's just so hard to take advantage of the odd formula to maximize damage and still be able to make good use of a secondary skillset. It seems to max out at around ~120 damage (pre-compat of course) and that's on the high end using something like a bard with max ma gear and magic attack up and 108 gems. With this change to the formula, the damage won't be boosted too much but it should cap out a little higher around ~140 or so making it slightly more useful.

This is my weakest team, IMO. I much prefer magical teams as opposed to physical teams, I just threw this team together because I really liked how a similarly setup ninja performed on another team. When she doesn't get OHKOed (like your team name suggests  :P) and can get off a couple don't acts, the team works wonderfully. Unfortunately, in round 3 the entire match only seemed to last about 60 seconds or so. I did make some changes to the team after seeing this match so hopefully they perform better next time! GG and thanks for the video Silentkaster!

Maybe stick to one stat or possibly two you want to boost. Maybe have two units boosting MA and one unit boosting PA or SP and then keep your mime with geomancy or maybe draw out. If he mimics a few magic songs or focus or whatever MA boosting skill you use he can start doing pretty decent damage. Or if you just have two quickening units, if his speed gets high enough higher damage won't be as relevant since he can get turns so quickly. Maybe give him speed stacking equipment and have two quickening units, that may be interesting if he starts getting up to 13-14+ SP.

That's fine with me. How are we doing map selection? Is it a preset map or is it RNG based and if it happens to land on a banned map, just re-roll for a new map?

FFT Arena 1.39C: Reks (Till Death) vs Shintroy (Quetzalcoatl III)
Video is uploading, should be up in ~40 minutes or so.

Can anyone tell me how to update my memcardgenerator to 1.39C? Mine is 1.39B right now even after re-downloading the 1.39C patch from the sticky, therefore I cannot make a mime unit with a secondary/reaction/support ability.
Shintroy had requested a match with one of his mime teams but I was unable to correctly setup the unit with proper abilities into my memcardgenerator. Can anyone point me in the right direction on where I might be able to fix this? Help is much appreciated.

FFT Arena: Barren (Mostly Maxed Out) vs CT5Holy (All Ultima)

Also, taking match requests today for the next few hours. I have the apartment to my self for once and my girlfriend is at work for most of the afternoon so yeah. If anyone wants to request a match for today, just go ahead and PM me or post here and I'll likely get to it if its within the next 5-6 hours. I'll be checking back here somewhat often to see if anyone has any requests.

Sorry, but what is the current bug with DS?

Regardless I don't think any items should be banned.

Also to Barren, I have 4 weeks left of this semester of school and afterwards I am more than willing to help with any recording/editing/uploading of videos for the tourney if need be or anything else that you may need help with.
