From 4:01-->4:11.  The a.i. reaches new levels of derpitude, if that were possible.

Yeah, when I saw that, I was like, "Wait...what?"

HOLY S*IT, I REALLY JUST PUT A FLASH HAT ON THAT SQUIRE!  I was half asleep when I made this team. Because of that, I didn't think I would pull that victory off, especially after seeing Round 1. But the mediators did their job quite well; that plus Fenire's inability to remove blind/poison/berserk ultimately cost him. GG.

Hmm, I like how Frannies operates as a whole. Takes 'em a while to kill stuff, but yeah. I might remove Heaven's Cloud from the paladin, though; it doesn't seem to mesh well. Might just run H Bag like I had it before. GG.

Guys. Please do not send me match requests right now. Between me being busy and having recording problems right now, making videos just isn't going to happen at the moment. Main reason why I haven't been making videos lately, to be honest.

When I have some time (and/if I get my recording problems fixed), I'll let you all know. But for right now, don't send me requests. Thank you. I really appreciate it.

In Round 1, the oracle might as well have been on the other team! I mean, wow. A redirected Paralyze and then a charmed Paralyze? The poor geo couldn't get any spells off. Rounds 2 & 3 though, geo got spells off = stuff died. Next update, yin yang magic is gone definetly. Can't afford to have stuff like that happen to such an important member of the team. GG, shadowdragon.

Leif loves his spellguns, it seems. :| But anyway, I liked how rounds 2 and 3 started out; critical DA proc on that archer, and the monk provided just enough of a distraction so the geo and scholar can do their thing. Good stuff. Yeah, Power Sleeve is weird on that monk, so I might have to see if I can alter her a little. But with Sisters being on a winning streak this season, I almost don't want to mess with their setups.

If only the current samurai was there in place of the paladin it might have turned out differently. Healing Touch went through like six or seven revisions in two days, lol. But yeah - I knew that spellgunners would eat them up. At least THAT version of the team, anyway.

So apparently, Camtasia decides to give me the middle finger during the one day I get to record matches. Sigh. At least I got this one done.

Just checking in to say that I am sorry for those who PM'd me their teams for matches some time ago. I know I've been kind of AWOL lately, but these past few weeks have been ultra busy for me and I've had next to no time to record anything.

However, I will be able to do a few on Monday, so whoever wants me to record a match with a team, let me know before then. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to do about 3 or 4, but we'll see.

Pretty certain I've seen a few videos on Youtube from FFM about 2 months back. Other than that, I dunno what is going on with him.

I'm so retarded for running Time Mage, and even more retarded for running both Haste 2 & Slow 2 + Raise 2, even knowing how AI whores haste. Also, surprised that the squire didn't go for more Southern Crosses (when he wasn't babysitting that time mage, anyway). Overall, that team just feels...I dunno...weird to me; time mage is definetly getting axed, and the dancer needs more damage options. GG, Leif.

Now that makes sense why those battles went the way they did. thanks TL.

EDIT: I want to put just a single unit here, just to get some feedback. This unit has a lot of element absorbs, that's the idea. I was going to surround this guy with 2 scholars shooting off any type of lore, which will be absorbed. Defense UP for physical defense, Counter Magic for magical defense. I'm going to guess that the AI will not choose a magic spell that the enemy will absorb, which means it almost has to cast a non-elemental spell. I THINK. The fourth unit I have not created yet. So, I just want to know people's thoughts.

Magic Junky
Female
Virgo
40
70
Squire
Time Magic
Counter Magic
Defense UP
Float
Wizard Rod
Platina Shield
Golden Hairpin
Rubber Costume
N-Kai Armlet

Alacrity, Wish
Haste 2, Slow 2
=====================================================================

That setup absorbs only two elements and negates three elements. She'll still get wrecked by most spellgunners, fire, and Holy. Take a look at this setup and let me know what you think:

Magic Junky
Female
Virgo
40
70
Squire
Time Magic
Counter Magic
Defense UP
Float (can be swapped for something else)
Wizard Rod > Mace of Zeus
Platina Shield
Golden Hairpin
Rubber Costume > Black Costume
N-Kai Armlet > Small Mantle or Magic Ring or Jade Armlet

This setup has exactly the same amount of HP as yours, only this one has 1 less MA (2 if you run Small Mantle or Jade Armlet), BUT you absorb an extra element in fire, as well as absorbing lightning and dark, and you negate earth, water, wind and holy. The eighth element you'll take full damage from, but that eighth element is up to you to forego negation/absorption, so you have options - especially with your accessory slot and shield slot. If you want some evasion along with it, go Small Mantle. If you're fearing Tornado users or dedicated Holy users, go Magic Ring. If you want a little bit of status protection, run Jade Armlet. With Small Mantle, you don't need to run Float, and then you can swap that for something else, but for the others, you'll need Float if you want the earth negation. Basically, it comes down whether you want to negate holy and forego ice, or negate ice and forego holy.

OR, you can run something like this:

Magic Junky
Female
Virgo
40
70
Squire
Time Magic
Counter Magic (can be swapped for something else)
Defense UP
Float (can be swapped out if Diamond Armlet or Small Mantle is present)
Wizard Rod > Mace of Zeus
Platina Shield > Ice Shield
Golden Hairpin > Thief Hat
Rubber Costume > Black Costume
N-Kai Armlet > Magic Ring

She has 10 less HP, 50 less MP, and 2 less MA, but gains a point of speed, however, all elemental black magic, all elemental summon magic, ninjitsu, a majority of geomancy damage, all spellgunners, elemental draw outs, Holy, and pretty much the entire Lore skillset, save Bio and Bio 2 is shut down. In other words, the only elemental damage this unit takes is from water, and that's halved. Water is sorta uncommon anyway, so you could probably get away with this setup. Non-elemental damage might still be an issue, but yeah, that's to be expected anyway. You've got choices here, too. With this setup, you don't even need to run Counter Magic, but since this unit only has 67 MP, you might want to consider giving it Move-MP Up if you still want her to run Time Magic (unless you're planning on giving that to your two scholars) or even better, Absorb MP (unless, again, you plan on giving that to your scholars instead). If you do go Move-MP Up, you'll want to consider going Small Mantle to keep the earth negation, and then she'll halve wind and water. Or, if you want to take a risk and forego holy protection altogether, you could run Diamond Armlet. Why Diamond Armlet? Because not only do you get earth protection and slow immunity (which can be very helpful if you come across teams running Slow 2 - which is a good amount of teams, actually), but more importantly, the unit is now immune to oil. Oil immunity on an element negating unit like this is awesome because in case you run into teams that are running Hawk's Eye or Short Edge + elemental weapon ninjas, or to a lesser extent, Nameless Dance, Fire and/or Salamander, they can't destroy this unit's elemental protection. If you want to be evil about it, run Maintenance, so your gear can't get stolen/broken, but again, that's up to you. Maintenance + Diamond Armlet + above setup = fun times. :D

tl;dr version: You've got plenty of options when it comes to making elemental resisting units like this. If you can build the rest of your team around it and make it work, then more power to you. AI will have a hard time (if it has elemental options, anyway) damaging this unit, but of course, physical based teams will not care about it. That's my 2 cents.

May I request a match please?

Otabo's Flying Dragons vs. Reinoe's Tanqz

Funny that you ask for that team to be in a match because that team is actually the next to be scrapped. But, yeah - whoever wants to record this match, go right ahead. Regardless if they lose or win, they're gonna get scrapped anyways to make room for this new team I've got plans to introduce soonish. Besides, I haven't done anything to that team in so long, and really don't plan to. Consider it their farewell match. :D

GG Otabo, strong magic team you have there!!! I saw this team in your Inactive Teams forever and thought it was going to be good...what a nice introduction! Ha ha.

Yeah it's been inactive since last spring. :D It's one of my three (soon to be four) seasonal theme teams alongside Advocates of Autumn and Wintry Wenches. They're not really teams I focus on to be honest; they're just "for fun" teams. I do have to admit that Springtime Sisters is decently strong, though.

Quote
Barren, I don't know where you got the team name from actually! Ha ha, maybe I missed something? Anyway, the first map was pretty unfortunate for Otabo...and then what was that when the dancer (at least I just saw the dancer, maybe the monk did it too) gets a turn and does nothing? I wanted to be like...Hell no you did not just skip your turn. You have a Phoenix Blade...turns don't come along very often and you straight up wasted it on doing NOTHING? Sorry Otabo, I felt your pain when that happened. I'm not sure it would have mattered if she did get a turn and started dancing or whatever since your other two units were pretty incapacitated at that point and our damage dealers were right on top of them but...alas...anyway Round 2 was where Otabo's units really got to show more of what they were capable of...and Slow Dance and Last Dance were hitting relatively often. The ninja getting up with 3 HP didn't help matters much though and the damage had been done already so...anyway GG Otabo.

Seeing that leaves me to think that I should revert Divas back to their original setup like I had them before they became an immortal team. Hmm. I'm gonna tinker with them and see what else I can come up with. Or at least make them somewhat like Dudes.

When one of the recorders get a chance, will someone record a match with Taboo Topics? I don't care what team it goes against...I just haven't seen them in action yet.

I've already recorded a match with them - just have to render and upload it. If it's not up tonight, it will be up tomorrow.

thanks, truelight! that was revealing. Wicked version of jenova btw

hey otabo, got any smokes? i usually enjoy a cigarette after i get FUCKED. XD truelight could not have picked a team to better counter the misfits. ninjutsu (accentuated by solution) + concentrate + speed GG they were never able to go on the offensive. those arm aims that seemed to never miss prevented haste and a number of productive things from ever happening. we did see an ice and a bahamut in one go, which is good. and they can sandbag, which is is a plus :P certainly not my tournament build but definitely could use a touch up. maybe this is truelight's way of saying "give that ninja ninjitsu u fool"

GG otabo. i sincerely hope you enjoyed that. PM me your mail address and i will enclose a vial of my tears accompanied by a hastily written note.

First, Otabo doesn't smoke, and second, he feeds off the tears of others. He's only gonna come back stronger now. :D
Seriously, yeah - good match.

QuoteI guess silentkaster must be my biggest fan right now with that team. As for the match itself, for a team that is meant to be mimic funsies it actually showed some staying power and while not all of the mimcs were successful it shuold held on enough to take down Otabo's ninjas which were the biggest threat I feel. GG Otabo. Keep working on your team.

Yeah, those mimes were pretty crazy. Outlasted my ninjas. GG, though.

(in fact, a cheer song user will often interrupt himself at greater than 10 speed), and you had two Phoenix Blades so that wasn't going to help matters.

That's the main reason why I don't like Cheer Song, to be honest. That, and it is so inaccurate. True, you need a team set up for the long game; also, you need to have a special type of team setup, and to have certain types of units that can actually take advantage of the speed increase for it to have any sort of impact on the team. Otherwise, it's a waste of turns, and a waste of time. A lot of teams aren't set up for the long game, though, so a lot of teams running Cheer Song, unless built correctly, usually end up getting rolled by the other team.

Mediators did their job: annoy with Kiyomoris and put them into Esuna/Nurse loops. Insult whenever. Round 2 though; small map; DomieV took control right from the start. The mediators put up a decent fight, though. I'm proud of them. I might have to find someway to implement some type of AoE effect of some sort on this team, though - probably something oddball like Polka Polka or whatever. GG DomieV.

I see.  I expected the two immortal teams to just duck it out into a bloody pulp.  But I do like Last Hurrah a lot.  It's my favorite immortal team.  I don't have the ability to "test" matches so I can't really be sure how they would turn out.  I thought the matches would be quite close.

Thanks for the match CT5HOLY.

I don't know why Last Hurrah has been getting all this attention as of late, but seriously, in its current form, it really isn't that great, to be honest. Actually, a team that would have stood a better chance against that team would have been Divas That Bring Double Trouble; it's also an immortal team only it also uses a similar strat to Andante's team minus Cheer Song. Last Hurrah isn't good at dealing with immortal units, let alone entire immortal teams; their job is to kill units quick and keep them down. But when the other team is running immortality + Quickening + Slow Dance + Cheer Song, they have 0% chance of winning as the speed differences will catch up to them. I know this because I actually tested Last Hurrah vs. that team before I even put them up on my team list - and they've lost every match against them.
