i use your amazing hacks and i find them super useful but that question is hard. some people will likely disagree with the idea of replacing poached items me included there. but thats because of how i designed the item availability.
    common/uncommon = shops   Rare=Poach      Very rare=Synth
well but mine its a personal project so that wouldnt count as much as the official community projects. their creators are the ones that should give an opinion. but i will go ahead and ask some questions.

1. if the Buy materials option is implemented, what will happen to the changes made in FFTPatcher related to poaching?

2.how could we administer our earned materials? do we get them sent to our Stock item inventory? we get a totally new menu for them? or will they only show up in the synth menu? i ask because if thats the case what about item icon and description.

i assume this will come in the spreadsheet but i will ask anyway.
3.the materials will have an especific default name made by you or they will be free to be modified by players. this is considering there is people that replaced monsters and it would be awkward to have a flan or a tomberry droping wings and beaks im yes im aware that the player will be likely to modify the drops of each monster but what if i want them to drop something such as Jelly or a Tomberry knife?

well i tested it with the original vanilla text descriptions and items and same stuff happened, its really weird. i can't think of anything that could cause the bug. but at least i know when it happens but not why it happens

gah D: ok maybe i was not explicit enough regarding the text bug and i did not make a single change in tactext I SWEAR! but this bug is easy to trigger here some pics with proof.

ok here the normal window we all know with no problems

here the usual item description window all fine.

but this is what happens if i open item description window if the guy is still telling you the required items. in this situation the game froze. sometimes gets really buggy and caracters go out of the text window it looks all messed up xD.

and other times the clerk will stop instantly and his text bubble will dissapear leaving you alone not being able to do a transaction. but if this happens i just go back to the shop menu and its all ok.

Nelvesca, golgorand, thieves fort , orbonne and Zeakden are tiny blue dots (1 battle maps :/)
and i think bethla and murond are big blue dots but like the small dots once you are done with them... you are done with them.

try looking at the help section for a few minutes and many of your questions will be answered, it did for me.
but then again its only simple when you know how to do it, sometimes it may look extremely hard and can be tedious and time consuming but once you get used to it you realize its not as hard as you thought.

as for the fort zeakden i never expected it would be posible to randomly open a menu in fort zeakden out of nowhere but then again there are shops i never use... "goug shop" just who buys stuff there? as simple as moving guns to trade cities and bye goug.

Materials~ well i did that with the current version i replaced Katanas and made them into "magicites" each of a diferent element and a diferent purpose of course with this in mind i changed samurai class into Magiciter that does the exact same thing but using magicites instead and with this in mind i had to remove katanas as usable weapons. my idea for this came when i decided to divide weapons by tier since the game is balance-type patch weapons are divided in 3 tiers and of course theres diference but wanted the real rare ones  to be exclusive to synthesis shop .

so i made absolutely all monsters to give Magicites as common poach and tier 2 or rare equipment as a rare item that was necesary to make tier 3 equipment. such as (Ice Fang[T3]: Iceblade[T1] + Icebrand[T2]+ 10 Ice Magicite)

so unless i didnt understand im guessing the new hack will make this posible whitout having to kill/Replace other existing items like i did with katanas?

oh yes yes yes this is indeed something i was waiting for. now i can finally give useless places such as fort zeakden a purpose \o /

off-topic and totally in the wrong section (and i didnt really want to necro bump synt shop thread and i believe its not relevant at all but..) i found out that if you have 0 patience and press the show description button AK spacebar before the fur shop guy stops talking he gets really mad and will bug out the text then leave never talk to you again unless you go back and try to talk again and in the worst cases he will troll you and instantly freze the game D:
(in emu he usually stops talking. in console the game frezes and thats it but i have tested and can kill emulator too... at least that happens to me)

also new synth shop?? the current one its amazing and i overused it in my personal project wondering what will the new shop have to offer considering the one we have right now seems perfect (ignoring the text bug).

yeah i noticed the list of generic sprites male/female one after another and have succesfully edited all of them correctly.
sprite changing is not an issue now i think i have learned all that there is about sprite changing so no more problems with that.

and yes i did expect effects to be a total mess but im not giving up yet with that because i ran into many ideas and im not willing to drop them all because of "complications".

other than that i believe all my questions have been solved but as i do this maybe i encounter more questions so not marking the thread as solved yet

however you guys have really helped me a lot and i apreciate that.
things are getting easier and faster as i progress can't wait to learn eventing seems fun well not the developing part but the final result  :P

im very glad to hear that. it gives me motivation and err yeah i dont want new effects only wondering if its posible to completely swap effects right now im trying to make a recolored version of shell to replace invitaton i am expecting failure but curiosity its OP

i remember a video i think it was a celdia video where she showed 4 recolored palettes of esuna each with its own unique name so i guess its posible to swap skills or.. WAIT?

Is it posible to make your own skills?(yes i know by using the existing ones) or did i miss something? um any links to this?

i guess i can't explain myself  :oops:

i will use what im trying to do as example.
1 create a custom recolored version of the shell effect
2 use "Invitation" skill file (E111.BIN)
3 Edit the whole thing.
4 place modified Bin into the effect Folder
5 use fft patcher and check uncheck effect slots (so that it will work like shell)
6 give proper Attributes and functions
7 change text and patch iso
8 cross fingers and test
9 expect character using a red colored version of shell instead of invitation
10 then use another unit to cast the original purple colored version of shell as white magic
11 smile and make a Hmmp sound of succes.

if its as easy as that then i will be happy but filesize tell me number 9-11 will not be as expected
or is there another way to do it?

 yes thanks again guys i did think about using bishop for my special character the problem would be the skillset space i wanted to use cloud skills for other custom skills but considering the answer of my 3rd question it wouldn't be a good idea well i still have to test.

im happy to read i only need to change 1 portrait just need to make sure its the right one i guess. i totally forgot about the sprites used for undead

will try the skill effect swaping. having a special job sure is nice but having special unique skills would be nicer.
my body is ready for graphical glitches but got to try.

as for the portrait problem the original portrait displayed in batle. in formation it displayed the custom as intended. but i just checked a few things and managed to fix it. so all i have to do is to edit the first generic sprite i encounter in the list i see...

well hope i dont mess it up so far everything working and i finally have some free time.

Hello again. no im not gone forever still here with more complex questions but this time related to graphics (Sprites, skill effects, palettes) and with sprites and skills theres always a job.


i have succesfully learned and edited sprites (formation and in battle) but as always there are questions related to the "what if i..."
you know...   :?

Decided not to edit my previous thread because its in my opinion a totally diferent topic as that is refered to game mechanics and mostly fftpatcher and ASM but this one will not include anything related to formulas or ASM.

1. yeah sure maybe some people find sprite/portrait editing a load of fun but i totally hated it >_> okay the question.
    i noticed that the portrait in formation screen changes but in batle it doesnt D: i modified a female priest to female priest with cat ears and while the sprite worked fine in both formation and batle the portrait did not change in batle -_- then after i noticed there was more than 1 female priest spritesheet so.. DO i have to modifiy ALL OF THEM?

2. OK before i do something stupid i shall ask this. i hate cokatrice monsters so i tried to swap them with Flan sprite :D
while i know this involves a lot of changes (Moveset,Job Growth,optional ENTD,Atributtes and a lot of text edit) what im worried about is how is it going to work.. the cokatrice has 3 palettes and flan has 4 palettes does this mean only the first 3 palettes will replace the 3 cokatrice palette? i wouldnt like all the monsters messed up because of 4 flans

2.5 How is it going to work? is the sprite made to be compatible with actions? such as casting magic , melee striking , charging attacks? im uncertain because mon sprites do not show animation.

3. This one i would apreciate to be answered ASAP. I decided to leave many generic jobs intact, maybe only a sprite change but i am going to change 1 or 2. My plan is to kill Mediator (because other than invitation preach and the brave thing.. i find it useless)
and use its room to make a Dark Knight. already got the sprites both female and male but here the question.
Is it posible to totally change talk skillset? More specific by a totally diferent effect. EXAMPLE if i wanted to change Invitation by editing a skill that uses as effect a custom version of Fire2?
the skills i edited all i did was to recolor not interested into graphic change yet but i wonder if its posible to totally swap an effect by another such as placing an Edited BIN of Fire2 in the BIN spot of Invitation so that i would have 2 similar recolored effects [1 would be the original unchanged Fire2] and the other would be [The custom Fire2 taking the place of Invitation].
yes im familiar with the whole process this involves and with this i mean i know about filesize and hex paste

3.5 AND finally is talkskill also a mess to change? because editing geomancer skills didnt seem posible to me, only the effect changed but the way skills are used are still coded to work depending on territory

4.5. if 4 was yes is Limit skillset also complicated to edit or works just like guts,magic,batle skill? im aware you need materia blade already changed that with an ASM that changes Swords as requirement instead of Materia blade and not a problem because the character i want to add will use swords.

Tedious and Very time consuming considering the time it took to simply add war trophies to every single fight of the game and it was not for all mobs only some i picked up randomly.
i leave gil as it is right now.
but thanks for the solution Xif also thank you very much for the synthesis shop im in love with it :D

I KNEW IT! err well not that it was you but i was sure he used something for that.


all that i need now is something that can make the 07 formula add a buff,  all of the other heal formulas are totally useless because they are not Weapon related.
mmm i might discard the idea for shurikens no other formula seems to work for them not even adding spell because it never procs. since the purpose is to make a kinda balanced patch didnt want shurikens to do higher damage than its previous tier but to make them work different since i overnerfed Ninja skillset (throw skill was broken, AI Ninjas aparently loved to throw stupidly overpowered rare stuff at you and yes i know you can chose wich weapons can be thrown in fft patcher but i believe having Shuriken and balls are more than enough after all, that 2 sword its not exactly weak)

as for the Item slots i beg for someone to do this D:
i have researched the hacking forums but found nothing (i did find some interesting ASMs 8D)
i would love to have another chemist like class Dx why? (because i always liked potions and stuff since i was a kid)
even if it means to kill Samurai class because i hate the samurais why? (because i watched a movie called 47 Ronin and realized fking Samurais prefer to die with "Honor" and that means killing themselves for a "Noble cause" DERP! they should learn of Gafgarion.

xD i said its absolutely fine with the current ASM i have, if i think it twice i would be broke the whole chapter 1 because only main story fights would give gil as non of the mobs i set to give bonus gil as trophies appear in chapter 1 and i really dont feel like modifying the whole ENTD again as i set each monster/generic type to give an specific item or amount of money but im 99% sure when i say eternal did use something if not made by him then by someone else D:

and o programmers and devs always adding unused stuff that would be interesting to see, the doll would fit as the weapon of FFX Lulu character maybe sorcerer class? mmm

Yeah there is no way to change the amounts of gil you get after a fight and this escalates the amounts you get as you progress trough the game. im sure eternal did use a hack for that. Im testing and the gil divided by 2 asm its not that bad i still lack gil and encourage more grinding (wich is 1 of the main purposes of my patch) unfortunately by chapter 3 just like in vanilla gil becomes infinite even if i get 22000 after a random encounter 11000 is still pretty much  but by the time you reach chapter 3 you will have all the gil you need to buy the new equipment. also the mobs i marked to give bonus gil as war trophies appear more often so you rarely lack gil.

final result: i believe using the ASM i mentioned its actually useful for my purpose i mean you still struggle chapter 1 and 2 and propositions still give a juicy amount of gil so i dont think there is a need for 0 gil anymore i will mark that one as solved.

EDIT: just for curiousity i have seen the weapon spritesheet has what it looks like a doll, i never saw something like that in vanilla, is there a way to get acces to it?

well i got 2 of these answered after watching a load of tutorials but most of the ones related to formulas are just ugh... i didnt expect my questions were about complex stuff lol guess a newbie should not mess with that kind of stuff just yet but i have played patches were people makes things of my questions posible. Celdia weird heal+buff using 07 formula or eternal with his 0 Gil bonus <3
and his innate ability equips >> need them ASMs . as for ability recoulous stuff i just watched a tutorial made by celdia about it and it was enough to illuminate me. and yeah learned how to attach generic sprites to special job but i still find hilarious to have a 10 year old girl kicking your ass while spamming night sword lel.

Hello.
First of all i apologize for any typos or nazi grammar, my main language is not eng and im using virtual keyboard because my laptop board died today -.-
i will try to be direct and explicit with my questions, i don't like to ask for help but nobody is born knowing and while i could try to find out how to do by myself i would break the game for sure so it would be both better and faster to get help from experienced people.

i have the fft patcher suite and i have familiarized with the basic stuff of the tools it has
so yeah i know how to edit items and i made a basic vanilla patch and GOD!!
item edit with the proper description text edit and ENTD all batle edit TOOK FOREVER!!
But there are things my noob brain can't understand and i have been working on my small patch non-stop and thanks to it now i understand why making patches takes so damn long and im doing only basic stuff, im hoping to learn eventing once my vacation starts and that will be in 1 week so i can fully dedicate to that and start making my own story.

but now i would like to settle things before moving to eventing so my questions are the next. i would apreciate if you could write wich tools i need or what i need to do to make it work, im a fast learner but well explained answers are allways apreciated.
NOTE i will use references of patches i have played, after all they are what inspired me to learn moding.

1. formula: 07 Heal_[weapoN] NS NE. im trying to make staves to heal+ add buff on hit but i have noticed buffs will not trigger with this formula because of NS.(no status infliction possible) wich formula could i use to make it work properly? or do i need an ASM?

2. Is it posible to replace equipment items with consumable items? im guessing i need an ASM because as far as i can tell ffpatcher doesnt let me do it and i would like to make a secondary item user job while keeping chemist job intact.
Ej: job Item Mage, skillset: Alchemy  Instead of healing items like chemists it would use buffing and debuffing items but for that i need more item slots, willing to sacrifice katanas.

3.How to add innate abilities to equipment? ej. shoes with innate  move HP up  :v/: this one has been solved

4. which formula do i need to make a shuriken that drains HP on hit? i tried using blood sword formula but it didnt work , guess its because of how shurikens are coded :/ any ideas?

5. is it posible to make generics have special jobs while keeping a generic sprite? i tried by adding a boss-like fight random encounter on ENTD by placing a pro geared holy knight generic but o surprise it was ramza sprite i think its because that job was not compatible with any of the generic sprites so i tried using miluda sprite for female and golagros for male... did not end well (miluda ended as a 10 year old woman and golagros as an abomination lol) :v/: solved

6. how to change ability animations for items? i know its posible for normal skills but items as far as i know cannot be given to work with the animation of an actual skill ej. i can make fire to look like cure but cant make a potion to look like fire after using it. .....its only a vague example. :v/: solved.. kinda

7. would love an ASM to earn 0 gil after a batle.. i want to keep gil exclusive to war trophies.

Jot5. AWARD to best storyline and best freaking suspense it took 1 chapter to kill vanilla main story. its been almost 3 year and im still hyped for chapter 2 thinking about doing sorcery to make elric post an update.

as for the item effect i think i leave it as it is. trying to change effect on items its only allowed to change the effect for other items (odd i think its because of the item the character throws or pull out when using an item) and yeah i think i understand how the animations tab work now.

i knew someone asked about fur shop before chapter 3

thanks to this now i understand why it takes so long to make a patch and im only changing basic stuff not messing with sprites or events heck im only changing item functions and descriptions and it takes forever.

EDIT: ok got stuck with something. So im trying to add buffs to staves on hit because i want staves to be supportive not only they restore HP but they are supposed to add a set buff... well supposed because its not working
i have tested it and it heals on hit as intended but it doesnt add buff, i opened celdia's patch because i remembered she used a book that could heal and add reraise so i found it and noticed im doing the very same thing she did but with the difference that mine are not working.. truth is im trying to do this myself but i really have no idea on how to make this work so i have to ask to the pros, any ideas on what to do to make the damn buffs work?
i would really apreciate it.

strange thing is that when set to ALL or nothing with debuffs they work but buffs nope nope.

hello after finishing PW, CCP, Jot5 (like 5 times now) and CoP i got enough inspiration to make my own patch but i think the best thing for a beginner like me was to make a patch using Vanilla original Jobs and sprites

so far i have changed things for a balance, added-removed skills from jobs, changed all equipment to be balanced and not linear (thank you Eternal for this i loved that of parted ways) killed move find item because i hated that and set the poachings BUT!

i ran into some things i can't figure out maybe im blind or simply a total noob but thats why i ask for help ._.

so im at the point where i want to change stuff for battles and i can't get rid of things here...

1. How do i change battle rewards (Gil, war trophies)? i cant find this anywhere and i want to make sure i dont get rich after 2 or 3 battles
considering the shop prices had been set maybe i should have started with that oops

2.i tried playing with effects and after messing up a few things i prefer to stay away from them but some items i changed have an odd animation effect and i would like to be sure on how to change them before crashing my game again.
lets say i have an item (Lunar curtain) that adds shell but the item slot i used was Antidote so the animation is the same of antidote of course. if i want it to be shell do i need to mark all the [] that the spell has onto the Animation of Antidote? asking because last time i tried something similar and crashed my game whenever i used the item.

3.is there an ASM to add fur shop in chapter 1?i couldnt find it in orgASM i would love to have it in chapter 1
