Hopefully Dart's Reds will work well with Ramza's chapter 4 armour. I am quite interested to see what you will be making Ramza look like for your second idea, be sure to post the concepts.

Haha, I'm glad you like them Knox. Eternal didn't advertise them enough for Parted Ways! Anyway, I will probably be submitting them along with some other sprites eventually.

And thanks for that Kage and Joseph, I will have some more of my stuff up at later times to ninja you all with (just to piss off Raven).

IIRC the map numbers on your editor arent the same as the ones on the front page of FFH, which might be causing problems with ChangeMap?

Photoshop is boss, it can make things so much faster - particularly recolouring certain sections which you would have to do pixel by pixel with GraphicsGale (Just ask Lijj).

I prefer Agrias without the boob armour personally, and Atma, I love the concept of her long clothes! Great job.

Have you guys thought about adding a female character (other than Agrias because shes already in) to balance out the male characters more? Although that probably can't be done in Chapter 1, you could do it for Chapter 2 or something. It would add some diversity and might improve appeal to other players. This could however, remove the feeling of five people together but then again, you could make her role minor so she doesn't stand out too much.

I like the jumping physics, it works smoothly. Falling off platforms seems like it has a stronger gravity pull than jumping does. There is also a little bug where if you shoot megaman's blaster when close to the ground (whilst jumping) the animation is different to what he normally looks like whilst shooting midair. (also did you know that if you press left and right at the same time he runs on spot?).
Otherwise I love where you are going with this Vanya, I look forward to more.

It would be good if you showed ChangeMap working; some people say they can't get it to work, others can, its damn annoying :P.

sprites take too long to make, if there is progress on this patch you intend to make, I will consider it then. But for now I have other stuff I want to work on.
The first row in the palette is the sprite palette. The 9th row is the Portrait palette. I dont use graphicsgale myself, but if you are having trouble adding colours to the palette etc, you might want to post something in the help section.

The Tifa sprite shares a lot of colours. It means you will struggle trying to get Tifa looking like Ikaros because the hair uses the same colours as that of the skin.
Once again, the portrait also shares colours, it wont be easy to get the pink looking right. But I think I had some spare spots in the palette to add more colours for the portrait, so technically you can add some pinks and mess around with it.

Yeah I don't mind doing that Kage, just finish the stuff you're working on now and then I'll come up with some concepts that we can work on. I also did a HD version of Albert and made a concept sprite of him so I'll talk to you later about that and a Lavitz concept I want to work on.

Ok guys, after a few people asking to post some of my stuff, here it is. Although you haven't seen what I've been doing in the background, I have been making portraits and sprites. My first priority was to finish of the Berserker sprites for PW which are now done! From what I believe, you can see and use the sprites in the next version of PW so be sure to check that out. Here's a preview of what they look like.

I've also done some other things here and there, the Zelda and Succubus Portrait are some. I've also done a portrait of Lavitz from Legend of Dragoon and improved the Albert portrait I made a while back.


I also made a version of the Tonberry which I most likely won't get around to doing, but it was still fun to make.


At the moment, I'm not quite sure what I'm going to work on next. I've still got the Aerith sprite sitting on my computer waiting to be done, so perhaps that, otherwise I will probably just make some more LoD portraits for the fun of it. So hopefully you guys will see some more of my stuff soon, I'll get people to hassle me about posting some more stuff if not :P.

GS, why are you working at portrait sizes of 64x96? It is much much easier to work at the normal size of portraits (32x48).
If you can't come up with something that you are happy with right now Generalstrife, put it to the side for a little while and work on something else. Build up the skills on other sprites that you need for this sprite, then come back to it. I did the same thing with Dart, I wasn't happy with the original design and came back to it later and it looks much better than it did then.

Type 1 and Type 2 are different spritesheet layouts. Arm, head and body positions are different from each other. Generally, the robed sprites like Black Mage or White Mage are Type 2, due to the layout of the sheet.

The reason why the Archer sprite appears black rather than coloured when replacing it with Reno, is because Reno only has one palette. This makes it so the Archer sprite will only look like Reno when in your party but black for everything else (because the rest of the palettes are black).

There is a 3/4 finished Squall around somewhere, thats the closest you can get to a finished spritesheet at the moment. If you do want it to use it, you will have to finish it yourself, you can use Paint, Graphicsgale, Gimp or Adobe Photoshop to edit the spritesheet.
