for me it was my second look into the final fantasy series (my first being ff2) but it was givin to me on christmas by my best friend in 2002 and before the year turned it became my favorite game of all time and has yet to be ousted
(but fable almost did it) and i like the original more than the remake because of the typos and the humor
One reason why FFT is on my Top games list is because of this site. I had this game around 1999 or something, not 100% sure because my uncle got it and i played it. Fun at that time.
I bought it the week it was released in the states.
I forget how I got it. I think it was a gift. But I know how I got the remake.

Gamestop.
Christmas 1998
Me and my brothers received a PSX and 3 games, that was like TEH GIFT back then.
They were: Grand Turismo, Final Fantasy Tactics and Tony Hawk: Pro Skater.
But it doesn't end there.
My mother heard of a very popular game, when she arrived at the game store she could only remember "Final Fantasy...?" She saw two FF titles: Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy Tactics.
Obviously the game she heard of was FFVII.
She bought FFT instead of FFVII by mistake.
This is probably the best mistake my mother did of her whole life ahahah. I can't thank her enough.
yay for good mistakes
played it at a neighbor's house
wanted moar
rented it from a blockbuster
never returned it
till the guy in blockbuster (video store) just told me to pay them what the game is worth and I could keep it
A buddy of mine who worked at EB Games got it.
I tried it.
It was the shizznit.
I got a used copy some time later.
Bought it when it first came out on a school trip when we stopped at a mall (hey, I lived in BFE back then)
Ahh good ol' Babbages
Nov 2001. Wanted it for the longest time and then it was re-released as a Greatest Hits, which I quickly snatched.
In the time, my father brought us to a professional hacker...
That guy said to us : Choose 2 games each boys. (Believe me or not, there was every pc game and every ps1 games there, in 1998 if i recall, and they where ALL there)
I choosed Croc and Final fantasy tactic because they looked cool.
My brother asked : Wait dad, how are we gonna get those games running? We only have a mac at home, and those ps1 games are not real disks !
My dad just smiled, and the ''hacker'' too.
We got home with a hacked ps1 and Super-powerfull (for the time) pc.
Then i bought the disk 3 years back because we had lost the other one.
i looked at the back of my disk this morning and was proud because even though it was used i had not added a single scratch to it all these years its almost scratch free wooot
Got it back in 2000 or something. When I was on vacation in Alaska (I'm from Europe btw), we went to some Super Store on like the first day there. We saw lots of videogames, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy VII, the sort of games I couldn't buy here because they weren't released or just never in stock. So I bought FFVII, and with my bro I bought FFT. "Oh, a final fantasy. Should be nice." he said. It was 15 bucks anyways. So, never seen it before, I paid my half and it's been the best $7,50 of my life. My brother funnily enough never really played it because he had no time.
my bro borrowed it from his friend at 2001 and every time my bro was gone i played it XD
My father owned a video store, so I pretty much grew up in an environment of movies, games, customer service and free popcorn. (I loved my childhood, by the way).
We got FFT in a few days before it came out, so we could try it out before putting it up for rental. I got so attached to it in those few days that I asked dad to order another copy for the store, tell anyone waiting for it that it would be another week or so, and to take whatever I owed for the copy out of my upcoming paycheck. He didn't mind, because there really weren't any people in that town, that we knew of, who were waiting anxiously for the game's release.
So I got my copy before it was released. Hell yeah!
Bought it at a mall. My best friend referred this game to me, it was the first (and by far) the best (for me at least) RPG game I ever played...
Kokojo, that is too weird. My brother and I each got a game in fall 1997 for progress reports. I picked FFT and he picked Croc.
Note: I spent the first three days trying to beat Gariland with just Ramza and Delita until my brother finally read the instruction booklet.
@digitaldragoon
on all my playthroughs after the first one i only take one chemist into gariland to maximize the exp on ramza cause i get rid of the generics for new generics but its is difficult to accomplish but i like to stick that enemy chemist in a corner and wail on him with ramza till i get bored
I got it in September of '01 from a Game Express store. I was so glad they re-released it as a Greatest Hits title because I wanted it for awhile by then. I just wasn't willing to pay around $100 for a copy.
Can't believe I walked that far though. Then again, I've done much, much longer walks since then...

I did read the booklet and still couldnt get generics in the field. Fifth try worked awesomely, defeating gariland with just ramza and delita :> Found out how to place generics in the second battle, and almost every battle afterwards was smooth sailing =p
to be honest I actually got my first copy, which to my surprise is an original not a "greatest hits" copy which has the cheaply made CD image on it, form a small family that was moving and they just didn't have time for gaming anymore anf they asked me if I wanted a PlayStation, so I said ok, at the time i had no idea what a PlayStation was because my family was poor and the most advanced system we had was the SNES. And with there PlayStation they gave me FFT
thats how i ended up with my playstation and gta london O.O
Bought it at Target back in 2000.
My dad actually bought us the FFT - the original version and I saw him playing it and got interested. He beat it once and I followed after. Though, admittedly I couldn't get past the Faith River my first time around, so I ended up loading my dad's game.
