Calling someone swine > Calling someone a thief

I concur on this point. That is all.

Algus > Argath
Aeris > Aerith
Butz > Bartz
Me > You

His name may not sound good to one's ears, but Argath is so much better than Algus.

Coming back as a Deathknight > Staying dead for all perpetuity

He was a punk, he deserved to die.

Quote from: "Kenshin72"Algus > Argath
Aeris > Aerith
Butz > Bartz
Me > You

Batsu > Butz > Bartz

Tidus pronounced "Tie-dus" > Tidus pronounced "Tee-dus"
(Follows Cloud -> Squall -> Tidus better, too.)

Algath > Argath > Algus
(Sounds more medieval, too.)

The name "Argath" fits his role, sounds like a stuck up little boy, Algus on the other hand sounded like a captain of a ship or some such. Though names I do Not agree with are Gragoroth (Our beloved misunderstood Death Corps Knight, Golagros). Golagros sounds like a pious boy, who was fighting for a better tommorow. Though quick to anger and slightly unruly, even to superiors.

Gragoroth on the otherhand... sounds like a rotton blooded Ogre or some such, Definitely not the name of a human...

i dislike the re-translation 'Argath'
almost as m... well not quite but just as i do Aerith over Aeris..

i mean really, come on! the games been out for over 10 years and suddenly their names are different?

also Golgaros sounds much beter than gargamel or whatever

I'm all for more accurate translation in general.

I think Algus is the name because its just is better name for him.
Algus=Noob

I think its makes perfect sense.
Algus sounds some stubid boy and Argath sounds like god.
So Algus

well didnt square merge with them or something? or was it really just a name change?
Title:
Post by: DarthPaul on September 12, 2008, 09:04:06 pm
i think it was just a name change but just in case google here i come

Edit: Nope i was wrong it was a merger but i stiil stand with my statement cause square alone made ff7 and after the merger they made crap like crystal chronicles

I agree. I guess they were trying to preserve name recognition for both sides.

well i dont think the name is bad its the quality of the games they make and im not saying square enix makes bad cause they make some good stuff like  Radiata Stories *which needs a sequel* but they haven't had the quality of FF 7-9 or tactics

i haven't been so impressed with the games put out since the merger to be honest... im just thankful for squares original fft..

i like the fact that that fft is mostly about humans and not about a huge wad of too many races on the same planet like the new ones, the new stuff is more like an interactive sci fi series to me rather than the way final fantasy games used to be.

i rather agree even though i do play the gba version

also 10 was great X2 was made solely for fanboys which i am not but i played it cause im a pervert which explains extreme beach volleyball being in my xbox at this moment

but the quality of the storys they make are going down hill

I disagree... my friends and I deeply enjoy Crystal Chronicles, it has a very deep story and engaging gameplay. The second one, is admittedly just a party game. To each their own of course... also FFVII wasn't the best, in my opinion that's when they started to go downhill, they came back up for IX though.

I have too agree with that whole heartedly, LD.

I have enjoyed a lot of games they're made since the merger, but they've had ups and downs for a long time, so I can't see the merger really haveing a negative effect or otherwise.

They've just made some decisions that have really irked me. Mostly I have a problem with 2 titles.

Final Fantasy XI should have been called Final Fantasy Online. Without a single player mode or even an environment friendly to solo players it is just too different an experience for me to title it as part of the main series. While they were at it why didn't they just call FFT FF9? >=P

The other one is Final Fantasy Christal Chronicles. I like the game alot, but aside from some item names and crystals, What the hell does this series have in common with FF? It has more in common with the Mana series than FF. It should have been called Crystal Chronicles and be left at that. It's a very enjoyable series on it's own. It didn't need a crutch.

Since I mentioned Seiken Densetsu; I'd like to express my distaste for Dawn of Mana. Seriously, who the hell thought that non-permanent level ups and skills was a good idea? Why would I want a hero with a long-term memory disorder? I hated it almost as much as Dragon Quarter: Breath of Fire V. I'd like to shoot the bastard that thought it was a good idea to make you start the story over from scratch every time you die. Fuckin' cock sucker!!

OK. Rant over.

well i never said 7 was the best cause the 9 storyline is the best 8's gameplay was a new experience that i enjoyed but dont overdose on

i think the gameplay for 7 was the best the story was iffy in places but if your looking downhill then its at the crest of a huge slope with 9 trying to kick it over and 8 enjoying the ride about 3/4 of the way down

also the reason FFT is FFT is because the game play is different which is true for just about every series that spawns into tactical rpg's and im looking at you dynasty warriors

also i agree whole heartedly about FF11 because no other game in the series has a boss me and a couple friends can fight for about 19 hours and not even come close to beating(and they say they dont want to interfere with our social lives

and as for crystal chronicles i could not enjoy the games story because the gameplay was akin to beating yourself with an angsty stick point being i didnt even get more than 2 hour in before taking the game to gamestop for my money back

if it had a good story thats great but you have to have good gameplay too

The DS CrysChonic is vastly superior IMHO. Not having to deal with that stupid bucket greatly improves the gameplay.
