Title: PSP text editing
Post by: SentinalBlade on August 15, 2008, 02:14:19 pm
Vanya, this may mostly be directed at you or kourama;

How well does world.bin work with text edits on the psp? is it the EXACT same as psx? if it is, i can get it working...

Reason i ask is im thinking about going ahead and translating SoR to psp, cause ive recieved alot of PMs asking for it... with release of v .05 coming later tonight, i was hoping people would be interested in a PSP multiplayer tournament with SoR... what do you guys think? id encourage mostly the same things as the autobattle tourny, but i would make an exception and all you to use fftastic to use the new multipliers for stats and things up to level 50... please, if you have interest in this, help me find a way to make psp world.bin work, through hex editing or placement texts like i did in the PSX

I think Nevarie or someone else asked me about some trouble with that version of the file. IIRC, the PSP world.bin is structured differently than the PSX one. I'm actually starting to think that the PSP one has no text in it or it uses a different text encoding.

Yeah its exactly the way Vanya says it is. The text editor that melonhead made is restricted to changing the descriptions you can read in the formation menu. I haven't played around with it enough to see how much extra stuff you can edit. As for names, the text editor isn't able to change anything here, maybe hex editing can help but I haven't tried hex editing yet so maybe someone else can give you more info in that regards.

How, exactly, do you edit text in the PSP? I'm trying to make it where Cloud and Aeris show up in my party menu, but I'm not exactly sure how. Can someone help me?

PSP text is uneditable, until melon's new editor comes out.

Darn. So, technically, you can't make custom sprites show up in the party menu?

hmm? no you can. Just open your unit.bin for the psp like nermal :3

Unit.bin is about the only thing FFT for the PSP reads that was form teh original FFT.

Just follow the tutorial i showed you and you can do it :3 dont be afraid to ask for help.

Also, you dont need text editing to make them appear in the formation screen...what made you think so?

*shrugs* I dunno, I was asking someone else about who to replace for Cloud and Aeris and they said something about needing text editing to do so....

rofl, i think they misunderstood your post. the only thing youd need text editing for is if you wanted to change a job name, or other some such.the only way i can even think that you would need text editing is changing the name of the character you have as aeris or cloud...and you can do that in lioneditor.

Aeris Works fine using hte holy Priest job btw. no text editing needed.

EDIT: it seems Zalmour(10) new job name is Celebrant...

wtf, who thought that was a good name for a high priest? xD
