Okay, so I have two examples ... different palette changes and the second one has very minor edits to some more shadow on the face. Any comments or questions are welcome, but do keep in mind I'm not the best spriter like most of the others.

Bare arm looks weird, has white pixels that don't look right.
Bare arm's shape is good and all, and the white pixels is gloves, which are bright and look similiar to skin, but nothing wrong with it here.
I still would like to see some cloth on him somewhere, instead of the bare arm, maybe a covered arm would be better. Or recolor shoulder pad, armor or entire arm black. Experiment all you can, just to make it seem more busy. Colors are capable to do a lot.

Change the head, change the palette, and add a cape and you have Batman.
Um ... okay? Anyways, here's another approach.

Looks like a temple knight trying to be anonymous. Armor that flashy doesn't go well with that hood, it defeats the purpose of the hood (anonymity) since that armor is unique and easily identifiable. To fix it, change the hood into a helm. Then it will look like a mace-wielding heavy infantry unit.
Speaking of which, we don't have any sprites for those kind of guys, do we?
PS - the original sprite looks great. The batman comment was meant as a compliment... though the bare arm doesn't make much sense.
He's meant to wear a hood ... also, I'm not good enough to do much else besides switches and really would prefer not to do anything besides a headswap, as lame as that sounds.
Okay ... any thoughts on this? (http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t28/Lydyn_Whirlwind/VirkumColor2.png)
Edit: Though in all honesty, I really love that blue. Not sure why no one else does, lol. Also unsure why no one like the unarmored arm. Cloud has one.
i liked the blue one, it looked a lot like Ezio of assassin's creed.
I'm not a big fan of the bare arm personally, but I do like the overall concept. I love that hood that covers the eyes too, but I feel like rofel's hood might fit a little better on that body. Nice start though, keep messing with it and i'm sure it'll come together!
I guess this is where I'm at a loss ... no one seems to like it (for unknown reasons), but all I'm getting as feedback is "keep messing with it." How am I to do that when I already like the current product? I need suggestion or ideas on what to try at least.
P.S. - The bare arm looks a lot better in animation.
Well, I think with the bare arm, it looks a little "wimpy" compared to the non-bare arm. so that contrast of size is what throws me off personally. Also, the hood is a matter of opinion for me. If you like it, by all means use it. One thing though is that the color of the hood may not match the colors used in the body. Again, its up to you but not everybody is going to see it the same way as you. Everybody will have their opinions

Well in the end its your project, your design, your character and ultimately your call. Do what you like with it. If you've found a design that you find appealing in comparison to all the others, go with that.
All the sprites with the tight fitting clothes, the hood, the boots, the utility belt, and the underwear outside the pants kinda look like the Huntsman from Battle For Wesnoth.

If you did the blue with the beige hood, it would be fine, I think.
Like this?

granted i'm not a spriter, but the hood looks a little flat. the beige is a big improvement though. also, what appears to be the belt buckle seems to be off center in the forward frames. unless its actually a utility pouch, in which case, there should be more than one.
Lydyn, I dig the sprite. I think you should use the half cape/scarf that Kage made in the other topic.
What it is about this hooded dart that looks odd to me is the banding on the hood.

See the section on fat pixels and staircase banding.
I used to band severely until I finally figured out what banding was.
Well ... sadly, I've reached the limits of my ability right now, and with my interest more devoted to the actual patch itself ... I don't really have time to learn all these advanced forms of spriting. So, some of these terms confuse me and I do tell myself a lot (which should be relayed to you all), 'I didn't even make these sprites, whatever is wrong with them right now, was something left in the original of both sprites.'
It's ok Lydyn. I hope all this pickiness around here doesn't turn you away. For a modding site there is a higher than avg. standard around here.
And the sprite looks good enough so
don't take the suggestions hard.
I like the blue one btw.
