I loved FF7 (And FF in general), and I love strategy games
FF (7) + strategy = Epic
Same reason as anyone, first game with fond memories (except for ff7) and just a great game
It's still probably the best strategy RPG ever made.
It has a sweeping storyline with a great cast of characters. And as we have come to find out a nearly infinite manner of customization in the matter of the game itself.
Epic story and epic gameplay, do I need to say more. :)

Tactics Ogre is a close second, but definitely yes.
I agree with the story.
I'm also rather fond of the isometric 2d graphic sprites and 3d backgrounds.
because i can and its free.
When it first came out I was like 'damn why so much hype about FFVII?.. this awesome game seemed to come out of nowhere. I didn't see posters or anything for this superior title.'
I like the customization, story, and deep gameplay. The soundtrack is also amazing.

I love it because othe customability of the job system. The combinations you can have are fantastic, an when a little combo come off, I go all warm and fuzzy inside. It also take me back to my childhood when I was playing SRPG like Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds and Champions of Krynn. Use to love my DnD action!
