Stuff i've been working on (Nothing complete so far)
Seeq Lanista (On Hold)
Dwarf Viking (Main interest in finishing)
:O
Definitely looking promising! I love the look of the Dwarves already, that's for sure! The Seeq doesn't look half bad either, something seems a little off on the color... but its hard to pinpoint for me. All in all, great work! I can't wait to see what you bring to the table.
Hah, these sprites are so cute. I can't help but feel like your shading is a little messy though and the sprites aren't exactly FFT style. Did you create these palettes yourself?
Like Mav pointed the shading is a bit messy, and flat too(especially the portrait). I am not certain about the palette as well, just ude existing ones for now(black Mage or Rofel for blue). It is a good start, but needs some polishing. Also, don't forget to keep design simple(mainly looking at Seeq now), too much details will make it look like shit.
WELCOME TO FFH WHERE ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE! If you have a desire to make them come true, that is...
I'm not exactly sure of the fft palette style (I guess I can steal colors from the official sprites to fix that, since I just made my own colors) or limitations of how many colors I can use.
I'm going to note what you said Kagebunji, and see if I can improve the color scheme and shading.
Thanks for the help guys.
16 colors including background color
haha sweet! an ff4 dwarf!
Basically the word to best describe the shading on the FF4 Dwarf portrait and sprite would be noisy, the pixels seem somewhat randomly placed. Also there is a lot of outlining on both.
The diagonal views for the seeq are not isometric, and because of that, it will cause quite a lot of problems in the long run. The shading on this sprite isnt noisy but just looks odd (the weird palette doesn't help with this either). The eyepatch(?) is just one colour, it makes it look like he has a hole in his head.
From the looks of it, the portraits arent using 16 colours so I wont say much about them other than that the shading atm looks weird once again.
Keep working at it though.

Is the shading any better now? (Still trying to find the right colors for beard)
Not quite, it seems like it has two highlights. Here is a small help:
Edit: Forgot to point out, I didn;t want to mess with the palette, but that one purple you are using there could be changed to a more fitting shade of blonde and used for a better shading, it will help a lot.
Just remember each sprite has a little light above it:
Cingin, your sprites looks cartoonish, specially the Seeq. And the Dwarf's beard in the portrait looks ugly to me, it reminds me the tentacles of the pschycodemon.
For the beard on the portrait I suggest using Pisco Demon's tentacles as reference, it would surely work great. Your style maybe is a little out of FFT, but you will adapt with time I am sure. Don't get turned down after an attempt or two, no other advice I can give here...
I know this wasnt going to be easy from the start, but you learn from experience and messing around tell tell you turn out with something half decent.
Appreciate the comments, did some more touch ups (The head is still the main focus) :

After digging around with FFTEVGRP, I notice that King Ondoria has a nice beard I could probably use as a reference portrait.
I really dig it now. Algus body works perfect. Haha, this willl work well for a male Viking, good job! Once you are done with him, do you plan to make his face human too? Two versions would be good.
Haha, it looks good. I thought algus was a little short and chubby.
Kagebunji - I dont have much interest in making a human version, but if I did, it might look like this (And I dont think it looks very worthy) :
GeneralStrife- I know, He fit the role alot better then that child base I was using before.
More progress :

I like it without a human face
It could be a good special character, or even a monster (Some monsters have humanoid appearance)
Or a job, the bm does not have a face either. Also, does he have a hunchback?
I can do a human version if it will be neccesary for Parted Ways, since Eternal doesn't have male sprite for Viking IIRC. Besides, you added mouth to your version, hehe. It COULD be a job, but then you would need a female without a face as well, and you won't find a suitable sprite for this at this moment, unfortunatly.
Problem is Kage this appears to be shorter than the female version created by Lijj. It would almost have to be redone from scratch...
I think the black mage face style suits this dwarf well.
I'd just find a male body to stick on the fem viking's helm.
I don't think a human version is necessary, just as someone had mentioned Black Mages never show their face and according to 8-Bit theater, that class is akin to the Berserker (an interesting little reference to that one could say) Ondoria would be a good base as you have said, for the portrait.
Here are some suggestions I thought made more sense with the palette, the helmet (angle mostly) and just a few other other pixels:
edit: also I'm not sure about those hands
Yes, what Lijj has done with the back of the helm should also be applied to the rest of the sprite.
Perhaps something like this? I made it so the helm didnt have that extra shade.
Edit: actually... perhaps ive overdone the smoothness xD
I dont have the intention of seeing this used in Parted Ways, just happen to like this creature design (And I make stuff I like).
Really appreciate your help Liji and Twinees, thanks ~ < 3

(Ignore the portrait, think I might do that last)
Do you mind if I may use it as a special character in Mercenaries? He would make the perfect use for a Bounty, especially if use the 8-Bit Theater character as the reference.
I know you don't have intention of doing this for PW, I never said you had either. I said I will do it if necessary. And no, you didn't overdo it with the smoothness, Twin, it looks great now hehe.
As to your sig Cingin, it is very....interesting.
LastingDawn - feel free to use it. If I ever make complete sheets, they'll all be free to use (None of that permission or credit stuff)
Kagebunji - :D
You do know you can submit it here, right?
http://ffhacktics.com/sprites.php
Almost every completed sprite is here. Looking forward to this.
Can you make the helmet highlighted like I had it? I like what Twinees did with the horns, the other views and everything but can you get rid of that blue-green on the leg (back view, right leg) and get one more light shade of blue back on the helmet?
I think it should be shiney; it is a metal helm I hope.
More progress:
The shading on the helmet looks fantastic now! But there's one glaring problem that I've noticed. On the fourth frame the helmet looks to be cut off a bit.
yes, on the right hand side, loks like it might cut off the hand too, thinking it might be just a cut/paste problem and not a problem with the actual sprite?
I think I fixed the helmet:
Edit: A minor update.
RandMuadDib - That needs abit of touching up, i'll look into while i'm going the walking cycle.
It looks weird, the row of pixels on the right sight of the helmet are perfectly straight
Wow-this thing is freaking sweet
here you go ;)
Cool sprite but need few brighten
Seems like Cingin died.
Happens to so many....
Did some minor fixing up on the portrait, progress is slowly coming around.

Hey good to see another spriter return from absence! Can aalways use more.
Heh, it's looking good! I like how his head is way bigger than body, hehe.
Good to know you still keep around, Cingin.
Been still doing tweaking up the dwarf portrait, mostly the beard and eyes (beard still needs some work).
Also was working a dapper "stache" chap as practice (I dont think i'll do full sheet of him).
Is it just me, or do the eyes on the dwarf you showed there seem off-center? Maybe it's me, but the one in your avatar is better and more natural looking than the one you showed there, personally. There's shading issues either way, but FFT shading styles can be very hard to get down well, as you can tell from quick pokes 'round these parts. That dapper 'stache chap looks dapper indeed, though. Fun concept.
monocle needs to be bigger :D
(http://i42.tinypic.com/348n4t0.png)
Basically recolored a marlboro and added a custom head.
Omg, that needs work but that is a seriously awesome idea! Keep going! I like the teeth, actually I like all of it.
Did a portrait, still playing with the overall colors.
I assume octopus royalty- is reference to ff3/6 Ultros! Kickass!
The first thing that comes to mind with the port is that its oversaturated for FFT style...but I like it like that. Run with it. Its Uncle Ulty. Make him stand out like the mutant he is. <3
Wow it's Ultros! great idea for a monster sprite. The portrait is pillowshaded though :( Is there anyway you'd let me take a crack at it when I get back?
Agreed, portrait needs better shading. Right now it looks like something from a Sega Genesis game haha.
@cingin, are you still working on that lil Gnome fella? That is an awesome looking sprite and really deserves to be finished :D
Lijj - Feel free to take a crack at it, you're far more experienced than me at this.
Elric42 - Not at the moment, I still have to look into changing a .png to a .SPR and such.
Made a portrait of Derpy, highly doubt I'll make a full sheet though.
I think we found a new avatar for Eternal right here. :D
I think not.

I'm not sure i understand what you mean. I know that a png can be saved as BMP witht he same results and a BMP is how you make a .SPR
all you gotta do is import the .bmp into shishi and then export it as SPR
