Title: Which One?
Post by: Kenshin72 on July 29, 2008, 12:25:12 pm
Should I use?
PSX or PSP version to patch with?
Are there more options in the PSX version to mess with?
Like text editing and junk?

Its up to you really. But the PSP version is a remake of the PSX, and one of their goals was to tie up a lot of the loose ends of the old one and fix the bugs. But ironically its these extra spaces and bugs that we like to mess with. I hear you can do a little more playing with the psx version because it wasn't made as well basically... lol

if you, for instance, want to work on a crazy everything broken patch then you just pick PSP and save its default settings and patch is done!

if you get where im going

I have done plenty of patches on my PSP version.

I just thought that PSX version hacking was more advanced.

Psx has more to work with, in the PSP version they filled up unused spaces to create their new items, spells, characters etc...

as far as items i donno what they did to add more unless they erased a few, theres only like 2 available slots for the psx last time i checked, but i always remove those 4 crappy handbag weapons to make some more axes and stuff.

So with the PSX version I need to learn to use that CDTool program. Is that simple to use? Also can my FFT ISO be in .BIN format?
Title:
Post by: CidIII on July 29, 2008, 07:38:38 pm
Yes, it can be in .bin, and the PS1 version is alot easier to use because you don't have to fool around with Memory card transfers and other gay stuff.

I just recently switched over to PSX version, not that hard to learn to use CDTools. And, a plus is you can easily record gameplay.

i just do psx I have psp and everything but its so much work and its possible to put the psx games on the psp so just edit the PSX iso and create an eboot out of it so you can have it on the psp

besides, wont doing it that way on the psp give you a version that doesnt lag whenever you use a cool skill like night sword?
Title:
Post by: CidIII on July 29, 2008, 08:02:52 pm
PSP doesn't  really lag that much if you have CFW, I mean I was using like Divine Ultima and the other cool spells, with no lag

you know what tho... in some instances i like the fact that the spell animations are slower. some of them look better than i realized because in the psx version they go by so much faster.

PSP will give you a bit more space to play around in in terms of abilitys and items you can edit, since most have longer names then the original psx version = more room for your custom names, you also have the better dialog, additional quest and movies. the only real disadvantage as far as i can tell is packing and unpacking the bin file and not knowing the original names of the files inside without some kind of guide. I think more people use the psx version because more people have it not nessecerily because there is more you can do with it.

I'll try the PSX version and see which is better for me.

PSX is better if you do a lot of edits.

ive never used anything but cdprog on psx version, plus it lets you import larger sprite files.

Hmm... I should check that out.
Zozma take a look at my Kefka sprite and see if you can do anything for his feet please  :D

Once I was able to edit the PSP version thats the only one I use, but now with my new comp for some reason the text editor won't patch the PSP version so I may go back to PSX now. :(

How in da *beep* do you use CDmage?
Title:
Post by: Nagafen on July 31, 2008, 03:35:19 pm
You open CDMage, then open the ISO. Then, look for the relevent files (e.g. World BIN) then right click on the file you edited. Click Import Files, select the edited file, and bingo. Job done.

Post by: CidIII on July 31, 2008, 11:46:24 pm
Dunno if it makes any difference but I always select the Easy Creator Image file one
Title:
Post by: Kenshin72 on July 31, 2008, 11:48:14 pm
Wheres Easy Creator at?
Title:
Post by: CidIII on July 31, 2008, 11:49:43 pm
If you scroll down on that screen, where it asks what type of image file, I doubt it will make any difference though
Title:
Post by: Kenshin72 on July 31, 2008, 11:51:22 pm
No Easy Creator there.

Can anyone help me save my CDMage stuff I can play FFT?
Title:
Post by: Austin on August 01, 2008, 03:07:30 pm
It should be working now, select the second option (m2/2152 or whatever) when you go to open it then just right click on the file you want to replace and import the new one. It'll say imported successfully or something if it works. If you're already doing that do you know if you're using cdmage beta or not? If you aren't sure then try this one - http://ftp.uevora.pt/pub/Mirrors/CDmage ... 02-1B5.rar (http://ftp.uevora.pt/pub/Mirrors/CDmage/CDmage1-02-1B5.rar)

Outside of that I have absolutely no clue what the problem could be. :?

Okie dokie, this should be my last dilemma...
I edited the Gariland battle in the ENTD tab. I also did some job editing. So I extracted my Scucs thingy and my battle.bin. Patched both and imported, yet the main squire in the Gariland fight isnt level 3. Is there a step I'm missing?

Also what are the team colors for?
Title:
Post by: Austin on August 03, 2008, 12:07:25 am
Battle.bin only needs to be patched if you edit font or ability effects. Use the generate ENTD file function on the FFTpatcher and import those onto the files of the same name in the battle folder.

Also if you only edited the story battles, you only need to import ENTD4. Saves some time.

I know you can use team colors to give the enemies different color palettes, beyond that I don't really know much though, I haven't messed with it.

Pretty sure Team color is for different pallete and different team. So if there are 5 enemies 3 Team red and 2 on team green (I forget if green is one of the colors), then team red and green will fight each other as well as fight you.
