Hi guys, first post here (in fact 2nd but the other one was a reply),
I have a project to translate FFT and I started it by writting all the dialogs down in a TXT format file a long time ago (http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps/197339-final-fantasy-tactics/faqs/22690)... and now I'm really curious if there's any way to translate this game via hacking. Could anyone point me a direction to go here?
Thanks in advance! :)
To begin, you'll need a FFT ISO, CDMage, and the Event Compiler/Decompiler. The latter two things are found here on the site- we can't legally provide you with an ISO, however. There's an event editing tutorial elsewhere on the board.
That said, I think your biggest issue will be item/spell names, which seem much longer than their English counterparts. In order to make the special characters you'll need for a full translation, you'll need an older version of the Patcher. Sadly, I don't recall which version you'll need.
Also, WELCOME TO FFH WHERE ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE!
The ISO I have, in fact in many formats (original and the others). Thanks for the other info, I will look them up :)

Theres the list to all the old FFTPatchers.
Try them all, until you find one that works.
As for CDMage.
