Title: Complete Noob Looking for someone to help with getting started.

Hello,
Long time lover of this game, I got crazy excited when I found out someone made a new verison and this community seems like someone I would like to get into.  I own 2 copies of the original PS1 game and bought a psp for the re-release.  I would like to get this Hacktics verison and try it out but have no clue as to where to start.  Anyone know of a guide for nub cakes like myself?  I would appreciate it.

So,what exactly do you want?
What do you mean by "Hacktics verison"? Do you mean 1.3? or do you want to try editing FFT by yourself?

Get a PSX emulator working and an FFT ISO. Once you have that we can help you with patching.

I've got the emulator and the ISO working, but am having trouble finding the mercenary patch and playing that remake.

They aren't completed projects, all you will find is buggy demos at best. There is a section for completed patches.
