Title: Problem during the creation of a PPF
Post by: Dome on February 15, 2011, 04:49:47 am
I'm trying to create a ppf
To make the ppf, you need to make the "Original file" and the "Patched file" of the same size (Using the Hex editor, you must add some "0" at the end)
I make the ppf and I try to apply it to a Clean ISO...It doesn't work (The Iso isn't patched and the game has ton of errors)
If I apply the ppf to the "modified" Iso (The one with more "0" at the end) the ppf works, and the patch is applyed
Any help?

P.s: I've already created ppf, and something like this never happened...this is the first time

P.p.s: This is the ppf

PPF file contains differences between "original" and "patched" ISO.("Original" does not mean Vanilla ISO).
So,the patcher read from PPF that changes in the "original" ISO have to be done. Then it apply changes.
If you'll try to PPF-patch different,non-"original" ISO,patcher will find more differences,and,of course,change them,causing alot of errors.

See,here you have three ROMs-Vanilla,Patched and Expanded. You creating a ppf like this:Expanded<->Patched.
Thus "original image" for ppf patcher will be Expanded. And trying to patch non-"original" like Vanilla ISO will fail.
But as you patchin' your "original" Extended ISO-it's OK,because for PPF file it's original file.
I think the only solution will be including a mini-guide "How to expand ISO" in your guide.

I may be wrong; but hope it helped.

But I already made some ppf with the method above, and it always worked
That's the first time it gives me problems...

Strange...
I downloaded your PPF,and patched it to Vanilla ISO with PPF-O-MATIC v3.0.
No problems during patching; but in-game it have messed-up text.
Is this the only problem?

Also, did you tried to expand ISO with Shishi and the create PPF?

No, I've not expanded it
And the game plays exactly as Vanilla after the patch, but with messed text

To make the ppf I use 1.4 and a vanilla with some "0" added at the end
To patch, I use the normal vanilla version

If your 1.4 iso wasn't expanded from shishi, then there is no need to append 0's since both 1.4 and the vanilla image should have the same file size.

anyways, what did you do to the iso between the last time you made and ppf and this one?
