First let me say this is an awesome project and as someone that has beaten FFT numerous times I'm very excited to play this. The first thing I did was dl 1.3 and patch it and then got epsx working to run it. I died in the 3rd battle and find the game wayyyy too difficult for my tastes. However, I was intrigued by 1.3 Easy because I do agree with a lot of the changes made and want to experience a tougher version of one of my favorite games. So I deleted the patched 1.3 .iso, downloaded the easy .ppf, unpacked a clean .iso and patched it with the easy .ppf. But when I restarted the game, first I loaded my 1 hour save file from the original playthrough which now had skills like Gained JP Up and seemed weird as hell. I started a new game but now I do not see the ffhacktics label when the game starts.
Frustrated, I deleted that .iso and started over. Now everytime I try running it I get the same vanilla tactics - gained jp up is an ability in the second fight (if you check the status of your people in the fight, it's an available ability. Also I can't get the ffhacktics label to show up and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything 3 times. Is there something obvious I'm missing? Thanks for any advice.
PS- I've downloaded PSX_Easytype_13034a.rar and have been patching clean isos with that .pff.
Are you loading the patched ISO? It helps if you rename patched images to reflect their patched-ness.
Well I've been playing easy-type 1.303 courtesy of downloading an already-patched torrent. I've just tried patching a clean .iso since I'd like to see some of the updates since then but no luck again. Rather than patching anything it seems to default to the clean version of tactics (no Easy Type banner in the beginning).
I've tried renaming the file, but I keep everything that I'm patching on the desktop (and the other files are in .rars in other files) so there is no chance I'm accidentally trying to load the wrong files. I'm using the ppf-o-matic to patch and it says patch applied ready to burn to CD. Very strange.
Heck, I don't know. Were you doing anything else with the ISO (or *.BIN, or *.CDZ, or whatever) when you tried to patch?
And FYI, we don't allow talk about downloading images of games here.
