Hello, I'm new here.
This topic's excactly what it says on the tin. I read the tutorial, but I didn't understand it. I looked everywhere, but there is no unit.bin file. I tried searching this forum for my answer, but came up empty handed.
Please try to keep the explanation simple. Even if I had found the unit.bin file, I didn't understand the rest of the tutorial.
Okay, you'll need CDMage, FFTEVGRP and your copy of FFT.
Open CDMage, select your FFT.
Pick Raw image, then CD Rom.
Now once that's all open, pick EVENT.
Find those two files and right click on each and extract them.
Now close CDMage for now.
Open FFTEVGRP and select your two newly extracted files.
Then import BMPs of the files!
Saves Files once you're all done.
Close FFTEVGRP.
Open CDMage again.
Select your FFT again and open it the same as last time.
Now go back to those UNIT and WLDFACE files and right click on them again...
This time select import and find the ones you just edited.
Now you're all done!
Huh. That was easy enough. Thank you.
Um, if it's not too much trouble for you, could you make replacement portraits for the following sprites from the custom sprite section?
the first AC Cloud
Alucard
Caped Ramza
Demetrius
Dycedarg's Elder Brother
Helmetless Gafgarion
Marche
Pieke
all the different colors of Shadow
Zozma
I tried to do it myself, but whenever I reduced the colors to 16, a bunch of blue spots appeared on the image.
EDIT: One of the new sprites I put in for the character mentioned in my other topic has glitchy colors on the formation screen, and appears as Ramza on the battle setup screen. Any way to fix this? The character's sprite replaced Rudvich and the character's job replaced the Byblos.
I still have a few to work on in the custom sprites, I've just been real busy the last couple weeks.
Work schedule has finally picked up.
They'll be there, I just don't know too much of when.
But I'm only gonna do them if they are 100% complete.
Not every one that says 100% is 100%. A few have broken portraits.
It doesn't seem very time consuming.
1.Go to custom sprite section.
2.Save the preview image as a .bmp (not the actual .spr file).
3.Edit the image in Paint so that it has the proper dimensions and the only thing in it is the portrait.
4.Find a way to reduce the colors without creating spots.
5.????
6.PROFIT!
Step 4 is really the only process that eludes me.
And even if some portraits look messed up in the .spr, they all look fine in the preview images.
P.S.
I would also like a portrait and formation sprite for Zalbag. I intend to make him playable in my hack.
It's not anything time consuming like all day, but it still does take an hour or so to do about 10 of them.
I have to do something else while I work on them or I go crazy from boredom.
Work isn't the only thing that keeps me busy. I'm on the computer maybe 2 hours total in 3 or 4 days, on average the last couple weeks.
I've still been slowly working on them, slowly is just the key word.
As for your requests, I'm gonna finish what I'm working on for now before I do any requests..
But a fair few of your requests happen to be in that lot I'm working on right now.
Gonna be posting another update tonight. Don't remember which ones are in this update off the top of my head, though.
Actually, I used that exact method. All you have to do is open the file as 24 color via graphicgale, and then reduce it to 4bpp. In ALL cases except a single sprite (White Wizard), it worked flawlessly. For that one, I had to mess around with it a bit, but it finally worked.
