I figure chances are I should have created a topic like this as opposed to having asked for opinions on the judge sprite. However, I'm extremely terrible at creating something completely new, I need a basis to work from. Being the amateur that I am, I can only get so far. I'll try to take requests and do my best (after I've completed Weiss and Azul) but again I can only get so far. If there is someone who could perhaps clean up the sprites for me (minor shading kinda thing) that would be great. Also, portraits aren't something I'm so good at..Anyway, here is what I've done for Weiss, I've tried to clean it up as best I can, but it still needs a little cleaning up (like I said). If there's anyone who could do that, message me, and I'll send you the .psd file. (Cause my computers screwed and I have to convert it to .jpg then .png, and it losses some information when going to .jpg.
Woops! Wrong file..that should fix it.
I'm not much of a spriter if at all, but the only critique I could give is to make the hair more defined, or add another darker color to the palette.
Pallete is horrendous, lol.
Well GeneralStrife, if you aren't going to offer an aid, then I suggest you do something better with your time. Cheers.
C'mon, no scrapping and biting on the internet, especially not here in Sprites. First things first, use an existing yellow for the gloves, look at Ramza's blond hair and at any yellow monsters and use those colors. And then get 2 more dark colors for the grays. I don't know what else to say.
Current palette looks like shit, in all honesty. Just use existing palettes. For Yellow try Chocobo, for whites use Rafa. I would change the colors of gloves entirely though, yellow doesn't work well with skin here.

This.
Don't soil your drawers, I hope you could tell yourself by looking at it he looks like a 5 year old water color painted him, so relax.
Both of you need to stop this.
Azul, if you can't take criticism, then spriting may not be right for you.
GeneralStrife, you're going too far now. You need to calm down, too. There is a difference between criticism, even a harsh form, and insulting. You've crossed the line of insulting.
But yes, Azul, first thing you should work on is the palette. Always or at least 99% of the time, colours from existing sprites should be used, that way the sprite has the FFT feel.
If you take a look at any of the other sprites, you'll notice none of those ones have such erratic colouring.
Good luck, in any case!
Nice one GS! XD. Anyways Azul, the kind of talk general strife uses is common around this forum, he is not trying to be harsh, he is only treating you like you are part of the forum (I think). This is how we criticize, and you will soon learn to take the criticism. You lucky you didn't deal with asmo... You think GS is bad.
There's not enough contrast in the chest or hair, and why do you have yellow gloves? Find a sprite with bare arms and see if you can use its arms or adapt yours to look similar. That will free up some colors too. For the hair, you'll need a lot more shades of gray from what it is now. I'm not really sure how many though.
The yellow arms burn my eyes so badly. They are way to saturated.
Azul? Are you going to take our crits and finish the damned sprite?
tweak the colors, if you insist on using your own colors, FFT style tends to look best with dark/more subtle shades, and bright contrast looks out of place. that said, your palette as a whole needs some contrast, it looks like the sprite is made almost entirely of gold and silver
