Title: Dissidia Duodecim Announced
Post by: Eternal on September 08, 2010, 01:26:52 pm
For those of you who were fans of the original Dissidia, a sequel has been announced to come out in Japan next year. Confirmed characters thus far are Kain (FFIV) and Lightning (FFXIII).

It could be a fake, but it'd certainly be an interesting fake. What are your thoughts on a Dissidia sequel? Who would -you- want in it?

Yeah I saw it today too, seems to not be fake, but you never know. I would be happy to see Beatrix in it, only this. I just wonder what the story will be, the world is saved isn't it.

Which Kain?  Normal dragoon or the dragoon/paladin hybrid?

I suspect if they use any FFT character, it will either be Luso or Adelle.  Or however you spell their names.  I mainly think this due to just how iconic Magic Frenzy wound up being.  I don't think they will ever use the FFT characters though.  The FFT games didn't have an ultimate job (at least not intentionally... except for Dark Knight), so unlike the other job-based games, there isn't a good choice on what to make the character fight as.  Unless they use a unique job like Holy Swordsman or Heritor...  Or Judge.  Wow, that would suck.  Using Judgemaster Cid to represent the "series"...

I think I'd most want to see Vivi.  Seeing a little kid blast the hell out of everyone else with magic would amuse me.

Agreed, any FFT character will be from the GBA games.  We all know that dissidia is just SE milking the pus out of their herd of ancient and diseased milk cows.  Wow, a fighting game with my favorite FF characters, with as much plot as Sydney Lostarot has clothes!  ZOMG MUST SPEND MONEY!  They can't have any characters like Ramza, because all the kids who buy this crap will play as him once and dismiss his hairdo and lack of godlike super powers and physics bending swordplay as "lol ur gay".

EDIT

No replies?  Wow, I fucking killed this thread.  I'm a jackass.  Someone kick me.

Post by: Draivyn on September 15, 2010, 03:08:02 am
What about his hairdo specifically? The fact that it obeys most laws of gravity? Ramza would be an interesting character to see in there...I mean they have FIRION who has absolutely nothing special about him!(if this guy was in FFT a chemist would one shot him....with a dagger)Not to mention the warrior of light whos commands historically are as deep and in-depth as selecting attack...they can put Ramza in(this would also be a wonderful excuse to put the bloody angel in too)

LAtest news has it that every character will have 3 clothes now, not two like in normal Dissidia. There will be some Assist system or whatever, and save data from normal Dissidia can be carried over to Dissidia 12. Cool and nice, but what about CHARACTERS?!

Update:

Kain is in (his EX-Burst is "Pride of the Dragoon", in which he jumps -to the Moon- and throws Gungnir at the enemy)
Tifa is in.
Lightning is in.

Orphan's Cradle is FFXIII's representative arena.

Kain uses high-speed aerial attacks, and utilizes Chase sequences to heavily damage the enemy.

Lightning shifts between her Commando, Ravager, and Medic Paradigms for various styles in-battle. Commando focuses on heavy damage, Ravager focuses on area attacks, Medic focuses on recovering her Brave Points. Lightning's EX-Mode shifts her attacks to Odin's Gestalt attacks in FFXIII.

Kuja gains a new HP attack, Force Rhapsody.

Firion is getting "reborn", and given a new gameplay style.

Lightning's alternate costumes are her Amano artwork and Aya Brea's 3rd Birthday costume, which will be accessed via 3rd Birthday's product code.

Cloud's alternate costume is his costume in Kingdom Hearts, which can also only be accessed via product code.

There has been confirmation that there are going to be many more arenas in Duodecim, compared to Dissidia, but there will not be a new character for each game.

Hmm, based on the leaked trailer, it appears the Sky Fortress Bahamut is FFXII's representative arena, and there was a flash of the face of a character who doesn't appear to be anyone who's been revealed thus far. As I stated on GFaqs, it appears to be either Yuna or Celes. (Let's keep our fingers crossed that it's not just the Emperor!)

Also, Celes costume = win.

Apparently one of Terra's new costumes is based off of Celes' outfit. It's in one of the screenshots with Vaan.

My first thoughts is why all the Vaan hating, he wasn't my favorite FF hero but he vastly better embodies the hero role than squall, I mean, Vaan is almost a carbon copy of Locke, enough with the needless hating. And I think that it is a damned crying shame that no FFT characters are in this, though it is very true as everyone has already pointed out, any FFT characters would completely own the game, even if only for their story purposes being that FFT has the most involved and intriguing story of them all. I wanna see Edgar get a spot, I always liked him, or Terra, she's the bickity bomb.

Update (and a very big one, at that):

http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/1 ... _dissidia/ (http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/12/21/nomura_takahashi_dissidia/)

REVEALED:
-3D World Map
-Dungeons (checkerboard style, a la the first Dissidia)
-Dissidia remake included in the UMD (World map, 2D events)
-More characters to be revealed (from the SNES era and up)
-Laguna was supposed to be in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, but they couldn't add him there so they put in in Duodecim.
-More music tracks

A) Onion Knight was RIGGED, players who mainly use onion knight usually aren't that good at the game.
B) You can play as Balthier through alternate costume
C) Kain's fighting style has been announced, with a heavy dependence on Aerial combat.
D) A lot of the characters are getting overhauls.

The Jump Festa trailer is up here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLjV7jw8j78

In the trailer:
-Ultimecia's Throne Arena
-Emperor Mateus' Throne Arena (Pandemonium)
-Random Castle Arena
-Phantom Train (Onion Knight and Vaan are talking in it)
-Yuna! (A brief shot of her walking on water is seen in the opening FMV, you can tell by the skirt)
-Duodecim's World Map is shaped almost exactly like FF1's: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101217231750/finalfantasy/images/thumb/f/f5/Dissidia_012_World.jpg/571px-Dissidia_012_World.jpg

Also, once again, Laguna is hanging from a rope out of nowhere in the opening FMV.

Characters are unofficially locked.
New additions are listed above, but for your amusement, here as well as why it was rated T.
Tifa
Laguna
Kain
Vaan
Balthier (in alternate costume for Vaan)
Lightning
Yuna (Yeah, but her voice actor hasn't been announced yet, nor her fighting style.)

It has been rated T for Teen, for "Partial Nudity and Suggestive Themes". (way to f*cking go Tifa, way to f*cking go....kidding, of course)

Yuna's finally been confirmed. She's able to summon two Aeons at a time to attack her enemy. Her EX-Burst is Sending, in which she attacks the enemy with all of her Aeons at once.

Further, people will be able to make their own Dissidia scenarios and upload them to be downloaded by others Internationally.

Gilgamesh and Prishe confirmed for Duodecim, and Aerith as an Assist-only character via DLC.

On unrelated news, FFXIII-2 has been confirmed for a winter release date next year, and FFXIII: Agito has a new name (Final Fantasy Type-0) will come out this summer. Versus FFXIII also got a fully voiced trailer at Square's department conference.

What's got me interested is the creation mode and the fact that you can play through the original Dissidia; talk about getting your money's worth. Only 30 bucks!

Oh and about Gilgamesh... He is not a faster Bartz he is completely different and like ET said Gilgy is pure randomness. His normal attacks involve him choosing at random from like 8 different weapons with 8 different effects. His HP attacks got their names from Blue magic spells and look fun to use. Plus, winning a battle with Gilgamesh nets you an applause from... well whoever is watching the fight.

On another note... I hate how they didn't include anyone from FF6 or FF9 >.>
Anyone from FF6 would've fit nicely IMO but, for FF9 I wanted: Blank, Amarant, Beatrix, Garland (at least as a costume for Dissidia Garland), Vivi (especially Vivi, and maybe Black Waltz No. 3), Freya... so many choices. But Gilgamesh made it in so I'm just fine with that. ^.^

Beatrix is a lot of people's favorites, she should've been included.
