Howdy all!
I just (mostly) finished everything in the PSP version of FFT, and I've decided I want to start getting in on the moding scene. I found this site because I've started work on my own mod, but I've hit a few snags.
I'm working on the PSP version of the game, but from reading around I've noticed that most people here like to work with the PSX version of the game. Aside from the sound synch issue, why is that?
Welcome!

I believe the PSP patcher isn't as complete as the PSX patcher.
And welcome.
Pretty simple: Most people don't have access/ don't care for PSP version.
And, Hello... =)
i like the psp version its a better translation but its so much easier jus messin with the psx version
Same here. I love the PSP version for the re-translation, extra features and (most of all) it's SLICK WIDESCREEN PRESENTATION!
But I only play it for the occasional challenge or just to kick back with the "old FFT." All of the haxoring and such is done on the PSX version, because it's the only version I CAN haxor.
So most of my time is still spent with the version that I spent the last 10 years of my life with.
I just never bought a PSP. The only reason I'd get one is to play FFT, and I hear its not too great of a remake. I still have my FFT psx disc anyway.
There's also the fact that to play a hacked War of the Lions, you'll need to put custom firmware on your PSP, which may or may not be easy for people to do (and which most PSP owners aren't even aware of). And with no PC PSP emulator (well one that works well anyway), most would just choose to work with the PS1 version.
I work with the PSP version mostly though.
Thanks for the info everyone. I've been messing around with some of the stuff in the PSP version and I can see that the tools for it are definitely behind the PSX tools. However, part of my interest in hacking the PSP version is in the melee and rendezvous modes (I plan on making some very difficult rendezvous battles to play with my friends and I want the ability to duel a real player using the new job classes I am making).
On a slightly different note, have there been any breakthroughs on making permanent changes to the in battle job names? If not, could anyone give me some direction on where I should start digging to try to figure it out? (I know a lot of the files are compressed, but aside from fftpatcher, I don't know how to uncompress them so I can't even start to do any hex editing)
