I'm beginning a Gilgamesh sprite (in additional to crapload of sprites I'm already making). I'm making him in the Zodiac monster sprite frame since I need room for his arms in the attack animation. Right now I have three swords picked out for him: a cleaver, the Nightmare SoulEdge from SoulCaliber, and the Plasma Sword from Halo. I may have to repick weapons for color constaints, but I'm mainly working on walking animations and such. Questions, comments, and opinions are welcome and encouraged.
Here is a Gilgamesh avatar that I made for Heroes of Ivalice that I'm basing it off of:
Interesting... though with a Zodiac, how do you plan for three different weapon attacks?
That's pretty damn cool!
Are you planning on doing a Enkido sprite as well?
LastingDawn, I'm not planning on using 3 different animations, but rather I would have him draw all three swords at once.
Vanya, thanks.
BROJ, Enkido is more closely related to the Yojimbo character from FFX, not so much with Gilgamesh (at least as far as I know). However, if I were ever to make a Yojimbo sprite, I would strongly consider it.
Is this Gilgamesh from FF5, 6 and 8? I always found his appearance rather comical, he's shown to be some undead Samurai looking fellow (if memory serves right) but he is more or less comic relief in all of the games he's in.

You're welcome! =)
And, actually, Enkidu (this is the correct spelling if anyone cares), first appeared in FF5 and is subservient to Gilgamesh. He also appears in FF12 in the 2nd Gilgamesh fight, but looks less like a fallen angel and more like a green wolf. If you wanted to keep continuity with FF12, you could have Enkidu appear as a Coeurl recolor.
Hell yes. I like it.
I'm really liking the sound of this project. It could definitely look really awesome.

Huh?
Enkido is one of the strongest supporting roles in
The Epic of Gilgamesh; he appears in chapter 1: http://books.google.com/books?id=qAuBm0 ... lt#PPA5,M1 (http://books.google.com/books?id=qAuBm0Ikw70C&dq=Gilgamesh+Epic&pg=PP1&ots=ZzB2ATJxh0&sig=6ytnUVNXAgMMJ3-gEpKgAy8Uij4&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=4&ct=result#PPA5,M1)
Looks damn sexy. Keep it up.
I support this!!!
BROJ speaks the truth about the wild man Enkidu and his immortality-seeking buddy Gilgamesh, but for those that aren't completely obsessed with ancient literature and history (I like them so much they're basically my college major and minor, respectively), the many armed goofy samurai Gilgamesh is probably more culturally relevant. So it goes.
Anyway, any flavor of Gilgamesh = awesome sprite!
The most interesting character in The Epic of Gilgamesh is Utnapishtim, anyway. /opinion
I need help. I'm having trouble identifying some frames. The ones I have identified have a label in the corner.
In case anyone wondered or cared, the walking/caharging/casting frames are 48x48, and the attack frames are 56x56. I could make a template after I'm done with this sprite.
I think the two frames beneath RR2 might be a Level Up animation. Does anyone have a save near Velius for a confirm?
I'm liking the progress so far, and I like the design of a cape for one size of his body. I wish there was someway you could make him larger and actually use Velius as a base, but that would be extremely difficult.
yeah I believe his level up animation is a self-repeating spell cast animation
