More like 2.5d. As much as I like sprites, I can understand them using that method.
That said, I'm not really excited for MvC3. Any playability MvC2 had with like 9 or 12 characters was probably the biggest accident in fighting game history. (Or biggest playable accident at least. Hello, Tattoo Assassins.)
Combined with the fact that apparently Marvel is dictating who can join the game, which I'm not sure if they did before, this time around and we'll be lucky if we see much besides four Wolverines, The Hood and the Sentry.
What little excitement I can muster nowadays is currently being directed towards SSF4.

Ah, yet another Marvel/Capcom fighter with the same cliche characters filling up spots. Can't we get Jedah or Demetri from Darkstalkers? Kyo or Batsu from Rival Schools? Doctor Strange or Hawkeye?
Sigma or MegaMan X? ( I could go on forever. ) They SHOULD bring back Rubyheart though...
