Title: Problems patching FFT
Post by: Zraki on April 16, 2010, 12:39:43 am
Hey, I've been trying to get fft patcher to work for the past two hours and I just can't figure it out. I'm unbelievably pissed right now so I was hoping you could help. When I try to patch the ISO it says Error loading lua chunk from fftpatcher.lua (or something like that). If you can help please respond, if not thanks for your time.

No, and I've isolated the possibility of any individual factors being the issue by creating a control patch with no changes and tring to run that but I got the same error...

i think you tried to patch the PSP patch version on an PSX ISO...or the other way around.
You sure you got the correct setting? (*New PSX patch* for an PSX ISO and *New PSP patch* for an PSP ISO.)

Why does everyone seem to just assume that I'm a fucking moron? No I have the PSX version so I've been trying to patch th PSX version. Sorry If I seem to be losing my temper, I appreciate all of your answers but I fear it's not going to be all that simple. I'm not a computer whiz but I don't need a drool cup either. And it's not as though I haven't googled this. I tried asking Rachael personally and he just told me to post it here, but so far I haven't heard anything I hadn't already tried.

is the iso homemade?

sometimes self-made isos are glitchy because of scratches present from a 5+ year old disc

You can't bitch at people for trying to help. :|
They are listing the most common problems because.... THEY ARE THE MOST COMMON PROBLEMS.

People here aren't mind readers, they don't know what you have tried and under what circumstances.
If you didn't want them to suggest those answer, you should have listed exactly what you have already tried.

As for the problem, I think I read somewhere that it has something to do with the .NET framework not being up to date.
I can't find where I read this, but it was just very recently.. So I'd suggest that. Then try again.

Like Mari say : We need more details. Even the smallest thing may cause problems.

What exatly hapend wen you try to patch the ISO?
Do the error message pop up instantly after you try to patch or after some time?
Did you use the FFT ISO form the original CD or got it via the internet?
How large is your FFT ISO file in Ko size? (Even is this don't seems important, we need to know.)
Windows version you are using? (98/XP ect...)
How you exatly try to patch the ISO? (Start at the begining and tell us Step by step anything you in the begining and up to the point this problem hapend.)

Try to give has much details has possible. The more details there is, the better the chance we may find a way to help you.

Just in case you don't know : You can open directly the ISO form the patcher and work directly on the patch.(Go into file and *Open patch* and open your FFT ISO. (But be sure to keep a backup of the original one if you don't want to spend time geting an other clean FFT ISO.)
After you are done doing stuff, just use *Save patch* and there you go, the patch is playable.
But i'm sure you tried that aleardy.

If this is not working, there is a small chance that you got a corupted ISO.

OK... I'm sorry I was short with you guys, you're just trying to help. I'm just frustrated because I've been trying to get it to work for a month.
I'm operating on vista, The IMG. is 528,629 KB and the sub is 21577 kb, The error message came up as soon as I tried to patch and said Error loading lua chunk from fftpatcher.lua, I got the ISO from the intrawubs cuz mine got exploded a while ago.
When I go to patch (open fftpatcher, open patch [or make new patch] go to patch ISO go to FFT IMG, click it ,get error) a read-only command prompt pops up and says
(WW) There was an error loading cd-tool.lua, using built-in: Error opening file Cd-tool.lua for reading: No such file or directory..... OK I'm a fucking dumbass. So sorry again for being a dick guys, uncalled for. My bad. Can anyone tell me where to get a legit copy of the Cd-Tool? I think that's the problem. Thanks in advance.

The Iso is the same size as mine and mine works fine, so that shouldn't be it.

I'm still not quite sure about the error, as I've never seen it before..

But the CD-Tool and other useful tools are here.

The link is certainly not broken! If it were, there's a big chance the whole site would've been down with it!

But yeah, try Zodiac's idea. He should be one to know quite a bit about this.
