Are there any ASM attempts so far to remove this glitch/delete the best fit feature?

1.3 didn't. I'd try to make a fix for it but I don't know where to start.

I don't know, but it seems the "Easiest" way

the best fit option is pretty useless, you might as well get rid of it if you can.

I used it all the time in vanilla to see if any upgrades were available for any of my characters D: (ignoring the accessory slot).
