you cant.
What do you mean by animations?
Do you mean sprites? use shishi to look at them, and you can insert/extract them from there
to actually make your own custom sprites, use photoshop, paint, graphicgale, or whatever you really feel like.
Do you mean animations as in sprite ACTIONS? you would still make them in photoshop/paint/whatever but as far as triggering them, i cannot fully recall, though i remember a tutorial somewhere...

You can't create new animations with FFTPatcher. If you want sprites, then export something with Shishi and edit it in Photoshop or Graphics Gale like VampragonLord said. As for magic spells and abilities, you must create them from scratch more or less or alter existing ones the same way as sprites, but not through Shishi. Look at the tutorial. You cannot change anything graphics wise with FFTPatcher unless it already exists in game. If you want for example to change Statis Sword to look like Fire, look first at Fires animation and then under Statis Sword replace its animation with Fire's number. That is as simple as it gets with changing animations in FFTPatcher :)

To clarify further, the 'Animations' tab has the character animations & text that are triggered during the use of each ability in the 'Abilities' tab.
There are lots of animations available but the values are for all the different kinds of sprites in the game so they won't all work on all characters.
Making new ones isn't possible right now because we basically know nothing about the animation files the game uses to construct them.
