Currently, there is none in COP, as it uses no Items. Fortunately, they may (and should) get changed into ...special swords.

It helps to provide a list of which items you are working on and want to modify. Special stats for the weapons would be nice as well, like elemental properties and the like. From there, naming them should be the easy part.

Flamberge, Ice Brand and Demon's Bane are all good suggestions, but I would be interested to see a list for better labeling.

If you just want cool-sounding weapon names with very little correlation to anything, then refer to this list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mythological_objects). Are there tiers of weapons (i.e. a weak starter dagger, a better dagger, and so on and so forth, until you get the best dagger) or are there just a bunch of daggers, each with their own specific advantages and disadvantages?

Cloth7=Golden Fleece (Jason and the Argonauts), though it appears you have the word Gold for other items, if so make Gold Armor Golden Fleece.

Dagger5=Gladius (recurring dagger in Final Fantasy, though never in Tactics...)

Longbow1=Cupid or Cupid's Bow (should cast charm, but whatever)
Longbow2=Apollo or Apollo's Bow (should have a status, but if you don't want it to, that's fine)
Longbow3=Heracles or Heracles's Bow
Longbow4=Golden Bow
Longbow5=Gandiva (sounds fucking cool)

Spear1=Gáe Bulg or Gae Bolg (very famous weapon in Irish mythology)


I could "come up with" a lot, but I'm sleepy.

Hell, all the bows could have statuses, but I dunno if that's on the list of things Koko wants done.

Dagger3=Dancing Dagger
Dagger4=Valiant

Xbow1=Windlass
Xbow2=Cranequin
Xbow3=Arcuballista or Lian Nu (if you can allow it to fire more than once)
Xbow4=Qaws Ferengi
Xbow5=Edgar's Bow (referencing FFVI)

Book1=Grimoire
Book2=La Poule Noire or Black Pullet
Book3=Grimorium Verum or True Grimoire
Book4=Le Grand Grimoire

Spear1=Zodiac Spear (though I really prefer Gae Bolg...)

Thanks guy, I started to work on the renaming, and It sounds really awesome !

Also, I was wondering, if I do put statuses on bows, would't charm be too strong for a first status, even at 25% ?

Yeah, 25% Charm on a bow could be unbelievably strong, as would 100% Poison (Heracles's Bow), or whatever status Apollo's bow would have (Regen, Death...I dunno). How low are you willing to make the percentages? 10%? 25% with low WP? I don't understand game mechanics all that well...so if this stuff isn't doable, I gotcha. If the names imply statuses and the statuses are too strong, we could always pick different names.

How early do these bows become available anyway? Cause we could always drop Golden Bow, make Longbow1 something simple (like Flatbow or something), then allow Cupid's Bow, Apollo's Bow, and Heracles's Bow to all have similar strengths and weaknesses, just with different status effects.  They would also be released later in the game, all at once (kinda like how the Lightning and Ice Bows were released at the same time in Vanilla, if I'm not mistaken). Let the last bow take a while to get and you're set.

Well, most of these Items won't make it in the first demo, so I guess we could do as you say, I like it.

For the status bows, Il put them at the same Ilvl, so the loot system will give them at random.


I named most of the Items, thanks to your suggestions, and I will update this thread soon with the named items so far. Thanks to all, you've been a great help !

Anytime man, anytime. We left quite a few items unnamed, so I'll hop to that after the update.

EDIT: Let's nail down some of the helmets first.
Helm1=Combat Helm
Helm2=Spangenhelm
Helm3=Iron Crown
Helm4=Parade Helm
Helm5=Tarnhelm

Cap1=Cheich or Tagelmust (use the Twist Headband or Red/Black Hood graphic)
Cap2=Kukol or Koukoulion
Cap6=Lamia's Tiara (Golden Hairpin graphic, perhaps)
Cap7=Ribbon (use the Ribbon graphic)

Staff1=Cleric's Staff
Staff2=Ruyi
Staff3=Seraphim's Staff
Staff4=Bachal Isu

Well, I updated mine. Your Helms and caps seems all better than me, but I think the musical theme of the staffs are good.

Hah! That's brilliant. I love it. All of the items sound pretty cool: some of 'em should be familiar to RPG players, others are neat nods to other games, while the rest are all mythological/historical in nature. I hope people are curious enough to look some of 'em up. It looks like there's a mistake on the spear though: should be Gae Bolg, not Gaw Bolg. Little typo though, no big deal.

You're doing great, man. Even though I've mostly stuck to this thread, I'm extremely interested in this patch. Keep up the good work.

All right ! Names are done, accesories too ! Feel free to go and comment on the names or effects ! I still have around 20-30 items affects left, so I would't mind changing or adding some ! Ideas and comment, always welcome in Kokopia ! :P

Mmmm, so, Mav Silvas would need to know what you are working on now so that you don't do the same thing... I think you should start with Armors and then weapons, and at last accesories.

Okay, I'll start with armors, though this is probably gonna take me a while though--my workload increased unexpectedly. I may be able to type up and post some descriptions, but I dunno if I could get anything else done soon enough. I feel like a twat for promising something and then backing away from it...

I assume that what's left is naming the mantles.

I researched on some names, and these are what I came up with:


mantle1: Scholar's Jacket - add 1MA
mantle2: Cloak of Rogues - add haste\ or add 2SP
mantle3: Zephyr Mantle (male only) - 1 jump
mantle4: Tenkai Shawl (female only) - 1 move
mantle5: Harmonizer - add Reflect? not sure...
mantle(6 or 7): Wolfheiden - add protect
mantle(7 or 6): Asprika (means "light of the gods") - adds resistance to all elements
