Title: Local Job Markets and Craigslist Gender Discrimination
Post by: Pickle Girl Fanboy on November 06, 2009, 02:59:39 pm
Anyone know something that's hiring in NE Ohio?
Also, how's the job market in your area/state/region/country?

I just got ditched again on craigslist.  The apartment in question was a pretty good deal: $300 a month and no utilities unless they get ridiculous or something.  But they didn't say they were only looking for female roommates.

FEMALES ONLY.

I can't describe how angry this makes me.  How hypocritical it is.  Are they seriously afraid that all men will either rape them or follow them around like puppies should they accidentally open the bathroom and see them peeing?  They aren't that good looking.  Maybe they should wear a fucking chador if they're so worried about thier purity.

The really funny part about this is, the more pissed off I get, the more likely these helpless does are to get scared off.

Please St. Ajora let there be a woman who's not a complete bitch and isn't deathly afraid of direct confrontation or displaying negative emotions.

Now that I think about it, those women do exist.  They're called lesbians.  I'm attracted to lesbians.

Can women truly be blamed for such? Sure they may have forgotten to note it in their wanted ads, but it's relatively obvious. Considering the history of women they have all right to be wary of men. Most men are disgusting, conniving, freaks, and women in this day and age are privy to this fact. Most men will take advantage of a woman's kindness, regardless of whether or not you're the exception women aren't willing to give you the chance, and for good reason as well. For what men have done to women through the ages, I would think that female vehemence against men in casual housing arrangements would be fairly obvious.

I just think they don't like messing with an up toilet seat ;)

Anyways, as far as houston goes, most of the available jobs are oddly-houred semi-manual labor jobs, or jobs that require a year+ of training/certification, or specialized posts that require 5+ years experience.  Also a handful of temp-for-hire positions.  Really that's how it is most of the time, but the general pool and willingness to train is smaller due to the economy.

You know this but I live in NE Ohio too and the job market has gotten bad enough here that even the Regional Temp places that helps people get jobs are requiring 2 years of experience.

Guess what that means for me:

Everyone wants experience but I don't have the experience they want. The huge oversight on their part is that if the only look for experienced workers then the inexperienced workers can't get experience.

Have you considered enlisting in the military DP?  It's always a possibility, and not everyone is infantry.

I thought to do that but they won't take me as I have a nervous twitch.

Hey fuck you guys I'm in San Francisco, where there are no jobs, houses, or college classes.

At least there are college classes here.  There are houses here too, but no one is allowed to live in them so they might as well not be here.

^This. I do have a lot of friends that are rooming with the opposite gender (who are straight or bi or whatever), and they are fine with it. Kitchen and toilet cleanliness are a must, however.

The job market here in NYC is sporadic. It picks up, but give it time and it'll drop down significantly. It's a flip-flop type situtation. But what's worse is the housing conflict since rent is still on rise.
