Title: Cannot change sprites to 16-bit bmp!

whats up everybody, i know this may sound like a dumb question but, what is another good program to use besides using GIMP to change the sprites to a 16-bit BMP? i downloaded GIMP but the program crashes every time and i have adobe photoshop cs4, i tried adobe and that don't work either. can somebody help me with this prob? thanks.

Try graphics gale, its great for editing palettes and such.
