One of the sprites I've been working sometime ago.
Our Tresure Hunter,Locke directly from FFVI.
Still having color issues, the sprite is actually 18 colors
Cool sprite.
Can you make the clothes a little bit brighter? (and the gloves, too)
Looks pretty cool. You have 2 different types of blue, make it one type.
Hair is the wrong color. It's supposed to be a very light dirty blond, not white.
Edit: Yeah, the design is pretty much spot on. Good job.
Pretty good concept. I like Fein's suggestion about the two different tones of blue, though changing the hair color like Vanya says might make for some shared colors in the skin tone and hair giving you more options.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody.
I will make a new color for the hair,it will share with the lightest skin shade
Using the same blue for the jacket and the pants isnt a good idea,I tried it,looked too plain
Brighter colors,interesting,I will try this.
I based him from his original FFVI sprite.
Sample the sprite's colors, that will usually give some interesting results.
Edit: Ninja'd! -_-
Saw this Sprite coming. And all the Art for that game was pretty inconsistent for Locke. Look at the Concept, the actual ingame sprite... and the portrait. All have huge differences.
This sprite is looking great. Keep it up and what they said.
I'd recommend just using the chibi version as your main reference. You can tell what everything is with it better than the others.

Actually, the FF series didn't start to have consistency with the artwork until FF7 and even then it was with the character designer's art not Amano's.
I definitely agree with going with the chibi design it can always be used as a base for an Amano version a'la` Dissidia style.
Very nice work
I have a fear that there might be 1 too many browns. I'll have to look, later.
Yes! This is a sprite I've been waiting for. Make him look like his FF6 sprite: headband, exposed arms, vest, platinum blond hair (hell, it looks almost greenish in the sprite). For kicks we could give the portrait his signature bandanna and intentionally make it look different from his sprite, but that'd be a little too strange, eh? Try taking Wiegraf's hair color and see if that works...
Good start. This is a beloved character, so expect people to be on your ass for every little detail.
my number 1 character in ff3 or 6.
Wow,so many posts,I followed most details from the chibi sprite, but the hair, which looks gray for me,I even tried to copy the gloves/boots tone of brown
Wait, would Aliste's hair color work on Locke? Or is that too dark? It's got that sheen to it, but I dunno.
Here's a quick edit I did with the snes sprite's hair color for comparison.
Also shaved it down to 16 colors.
The only issue there is seeing the jacket and pants separately. At a glance, it isn't clear they are separate. When the sprite is in motion though, I don't really think that should be too much of a problem if the rest of the animations are done well.
You're absolutely right about that, Silvas, but I'll leave those issues to others. I just wanted to show that the palette could look reasonably like the original sprite without looking out of place in FFT.
Ooh, that hair color looks perfect: great job. I do think that when it's not zoomed in, he may look like he's wearing some kinda jumpsuit, but I dunno what can be done about that other than brightening or enlarging the belt.
Very nice ^^
thats why used two tones of blue,so it wont look like a jumpsuit, but its a little impossible to do this now
Seems like you could do something to share eye/shirt/hair shades of white to open up at least one more shade. There might be potential of eliminating a brown skin/clothing tone, but I haven't look at it too closely.
I was making just those adjustment a few hours ago, but I didn't get a chance post it.
I added a darker shade of blue so you can use the 3 lighter shades for one garment and the 3 darker shades for the other.
I finally got my computer fix'd, it returned yesterday,in order to celebrate this I brought Locke a new poses
Looking good, though his side view the hair under the head band is a bitt too dark. Try throwing in a few lighter pixels.
Yeah Cheetah's right. Looks good so far!
Yup, what they said. Looks good ^^
All 5 Five Main Poses
Great work so far.
For some reason he looks one pixel too tall on the front facing and one pixel too short on the rear side. Excellent progress though.
Moving to secondary poses, here is the first, front damage
Is it just me or is the skin a little too dark?
It is a bit dark yes. Btw, add some shading to coat, now it is gradient-fill.
I must say this sprite is locking very good, great job.
Good one Kage "Locke-ing" very good indeed :p
I did his face more lighter, better coat shading and removed some coat leftover from his armpits
Im working with two sprites,I first make the 20yo Male to use as a base and Im having problems with the back damaging
I dig it. I think the lighter shades are good.
Yea. Lighter is better. Looking great ^^
Critical Front Pose,it looks like a block due color the limit
Actually for the damaged pose can you do something a little more... unique? Such as imitate his damage pose from FFVI?
What happened to his arms? Also, his knee/leg when crouch looks bit flat on the transition with his body, probably due to colour limit. No darker shades for that transition.
Hmm.. Clothes need one more dark shade, yeah. (blue)
His arms are looking bit funny.
finally I got time to sprite,I did a small change with the critical pose and added the back damage, still needs someone to make the moving animation for Mitch
Aere you at color limit? If no, then why the heck you didn't added a blue that some sugested before?
Add a dark blue if there's space left.
there 4 tones of blue and Im already at limit
Nevermind. You already have a dark blue tone. Use that for those transitions that are shadowed.
Though the shade of blue itself does need a little work: right now it's too light to be the darkest shade and it almost looks purple....
I dunno why it looks so flat then, hmmmm...
Got the back critical done,I was unable to get rid of the front critical flatness,I really cant understand it keeps flat
It's looking pretty damn good, in my opinion. Keep up the good work.
Finally moving to the walking animation and finished the front walking,I will need some help to fix the arms, they are mostly custom and their transition is looking very awkward
Here the spritesheet so far and the animated gif
Pretty good so far, only one thing: shouldn't his hair move a little bit in the walking frames?
Well, the shirt shadings should change and move a little bit because now, it looks stayed still and only changing colours at his left collar (from blue to dark blue) and the collar edge around the shoulder (a few pixel swapped). Try add some movements on his shirt and collar. As for his hair, maybe a little bit of sway.
The arm animation looks a bit funky. I think one of the arms is off by a pixel vertically.
Did you make the gloves by yourself? If not, you can use the shading from the gloves and follow it up the arms (mainly for when his left arm is furthest back). That should make it seem a little better, and also help with the positions of the arms.
Anyway its looking good. Keep the great work up BloodThrister0
Yeah,I did the gloves, its pretty difficult to get rid of the arms "Funkyness",
I plan to add more movement, but thats damn hard,I dont even where to start, but first lets fix the arms
update time!
Im leaving the arms to the end since they are the most difficult thing to do,I will skip the water move poses for a while since Im lazy to copy and paste things,so next thing to do is the attacking bodies.
btw,the arms arent fixed
Wow Locke! Thief power! Anyway, the moving animation looks like Frankenstein imo. His hair, jacket and upper torso in general dont move in the slightest. However, this is a good looking sprite so far! Keep it up BT!
His face looks a little odd on the rear side views, especially during singing, I'm not sure what it is though.
Looks good to me mostly, should be an interesting addition to FFT.
I remember trying to make a General Leo for FFT, very briefly. I just played with one of the sprites and -tried- to make him resemble Leo, but it didn't go well which is why i never really talked about it or posted anything of it. Maybe I'll try again someday.
Quote from: "Cheetah"His face looks a little odd on the rear side views, especially during singing, I'm not sure what it is though.
Aye, it looks like his head isn't attached to his body. Overall the sprite looks pretty damn good, but it definitely needs some refining.
After long, but still unfinished vacations.I decided to get back into spriting again.I looked it,I looked the comentaries, then I looked it again and I finally thought, man, that head needs to be fixed for real, but I really have no idea on how to do it.
However,I decided to re-do the walking arms and I re-did them, they look better now.
I just need someone to make an animated if,since my program expired
Looks good, but the bare shoulders kinda bug me.
Just use GIMP. Its free.
Wow, this really cool, but unfinished, Bloodthirster0, you'll still finish it?
