Heroes of Newerth

it's an online 5 on 5 strategy game in which you pick a single hero and use it to turn the tide of waves of creeps against the enemy base

it's based on the wildly popular WC3 custom map Defense of the Ancients (DOTA)

I'd heard OF Warcraft but not to the extent where I'd easily recognise the acronym.

Never played WoW
Never played Starcraft
Might torrent Diablo II.

Whenever I can pull out the fucking effort to reinstall it, the community is filled with mongos and "leets" that are even more annoying than the mongs, so I don't find it too interesting at the moment.

Interesting in balance, if you can play with a decent group, painful otherwise.
