well,I finally decided to make my personal sprite,it is called "Gevaerd",cuz its my last name and I like that name.

I'm not a big fan of the green for the armor, makes him look like a lizard. If the cape could be a different from the hair it would be much more likable as well.

I think the palette is pretty cool. something a bit different. Good job fitting the cape to the sprite. No seams. Much like Kage: You are on the right track

Thanks,so I will keep the pallete,I took a lot of time to think about it and it have a nice story,so I will tell

I was messing with the evtchr editor and I found Dorter 2 evtchr,it features the hatless thief and vormav and the thief was the active pallete for the view and vormav looked so sweet with that pallete,so I picked it,since it was original

Try Voldemort's suggestion--though we don't see many strangely colored armors, that doesn't mean they don't exist. Orlandu wears purple, for whatever reason.

The sprite itself is pretty nice. I don't think the hair and cloth should match so closely, but I think you'll have it taken care of shortly.

I wont changing the green,I tried out a darker green and didnt look good,unless I change the whole pallete

I will keep the skin and cloth colors,but Im still looking for a hair color,not white,black,brown(it will look like Balk) or manga color,I wanted a blondish but not yellow color,but the skin,hair and cloth looks very alike creating a very monochromatic sprite and Im still looking for a good color

EDIT:Yeah,after a lot hair tests,the actual is the one that fit the best with the clothes/armor.So I will work with this one

Im requesting a portrait for him,just something note: he is a young guy(20yo) and pls dont make it look like Balk

This looks promising. Yeah. Like Mike said, don't change the green. Rarely see green armor.
Hair...blondish, not yellow...Hmm...maybe rip the blondes from existing sprite but make it a little light?
I know that creating own palettes won't do but the existing sprites' blonde are yellowish.

I think smile don't really working well in this portrait. Maybe is because of the face, not evil enough or something; so with the smile, it looks funny.

Try making the curve on the smile a lighter color maybe? Like, not the same shade as the rest of the mouth to make it an even smaller smirk. Its just an idea.

Maybe think it's the face shape. This guy has the more square jaw; we tend to see smiles on the rounder-faced blokes, I think. I dunno.

Auron's right is some deathnote or something, I'm not quite sure. The two right after Auron's right is Onion Knights.

Yea, Mike. I compiled them as reference for the Llednar's portrait but unfortunately, I failed...miserably. Haha.
Also, note that these aren't all the portraits of FFTs. Some original portraits from FFTs and some custome sprites' portraits.
But, I'll compiled all existing portraits of FFT as they are amazing and very useful for reference.

I'm keeping that set of portraits =D I see that squire from the battle in Gariland whose face NEVER appears again, seeing as no one has ever really used him ever again, he could be a useful base portrait.

A lot of 'em are awesome. The three to the left of Zack's portrait are probably the only ones I don't recognize. I'm surprised the guy in my avatar isn't on there--he's actually from FFT. The prisoner that calls out Minister Gelwan during that one scene...yeah. Actually the avatar database at this board is probably missing a couple from the actual game as well...


Oh and I'll take another look at the mouth for the portrait I posted earlier. While a smile may not work, he could probably use something different than his base.

Pretty good. The forward-facing one's cape looks a little odd--strange shading, I'd guess. Keep working on it--you have something good here.

Looking quite good. I have come to the conclusion that the main reason I don't like the green armor is because it isn't shiny enough, thus not looking like metal.

That isnt going to work. That lancer has a billion different shades for the armour. Bloodthirster's has 3. Have you guys ever taken a close look at the "armour" in the game? With a few exceptions it just doesn't shine like armour and this includes all the green parts on bloodthirster's sprite which are from the knight.

Hmm...good point--with only 3 colors that Lancer's palette probably won't work. Borrowing certain greens may result in him looking like he's glowing, or that there's no shine, or some other nonsense. I was thinking about the palette more from, "how would this shade of green look on this sprite" and figured, it might work out. Though from a technical standpoint, it may or may not.

And yes, fix those shoulders. Though the problem is likely due to the fact that the original Knight's forward-facing sprite looks terrible.

You bet. Also, you're gonna need to re-shade the shoulders on the forward-facing sprite. Whoever designed the original knight really mucked up on it. It's too light, look at the Skeletons to see it done right.

Me too!

Anyway, yeah, Asmo has great observation with sprites,
so I suggest you follow his advice.. But the front sprite doesn't
get to be seen much in-game.

I re-shaded the front view based on nothing,idk if its good,but I dont looks plain anymore


EDIT: The sprite its like 80% complete,and those missing 20% are the parts of the sprite that I fail epicly and really need someone do it

I like it over all, but I don't quite like the hair. It reminds me too much of the original character.

yeah, Asmo's version for the front sprite is better.

Oh btw, the part in the middle isn't hard to make. It's just the 'on-water' sprites. They are based on the walking sprites.

Oh, try Delita's hair!

It's almost finished,
you just need to,
-test the animations
-recolor the head
-fix the on-water dead sprite
-edit minor details

oh btw, you might want to reinsert the portrait again, if you recolor the head. To prevent further problems. It's on 29 colors.

I think the sprite itself may have 20 colors...Gimme some time and I can probably reduce the sprite (if it does indeed have too many colors) and I'll insert the portrait and check it on Shishi.

EDIT: Alright, looking at it, I see a couple problems: a couple of the sprites still have Balk's hair color. These are the singing animations, the damaging-taking sprites, the dying sprites, and the dead sprites. Wait...it's all the sprites that aren't in the first three rows: they all have the wrong hair color. Fix that quickly.

Also on the far right (our right) the third sprite from the bottom is apparently too high. This causes the head to disconnect from the body for a short while. It's hilarious, but wrong.

I'll let you take care of these things, Bloodthirster0, since it'll help you out as a spriter.

only needing a fix on the water dead,face type and hair color.

I always disliked Balk faces,it looks like an angry bear "Grr,Who stole my honey!?"

the sprite is next to its completion,I did the hair and face recolor/change,but I had a few difficulties with some partsand the dead on-water still missing  and I didnt change the high sprite,cuz I didnt locate it (seriously)

here are the sprite and the zoom of the parts I had difficulties

And great progress on your sprite; I've attached some images that should highlight the problem with the floating head. I also notice that the sprite may be sharing a color with the portrait, if this is the case, it may need one of the colors to be replaced (I suggest the portrait, since you should be able to give any color any value and it'll work fine).

If you read my post, then you should have got ridden of some problems earlier.
And yes, the problems are the animations, so you just have to "move" some sprites.
It might take time, but it's simple to do.


IMO, don't use the latest SHISHI for testing.
Use the last version before it.

The Sprite is 100% complete,thanks everyone who posted and contributed

a special thanks to Asmo who corrected the shoulder shading,to Mike who did a lot of corrections and did the part I had difficulties and to mav who did an awesome portrait for me
