Title: New Beginning
Post by: DarthPaul on September 05, 2009, 05:03:49 pm
Korso and I are going to start me up on a high exercise/good diet lifestyle in the hopes of my long term health.

After a visit to the doctor the other day I was told my health now was phenomenal but in coming years if I don't lead a better lifestyle I will most definitely have problems.

Viva la fitness.

Any suggestions?

Get Wii Fit Plus for Wii. It looks like the perfect correction to the original Wii Fit.

Don't go too hard core at the beginning or you might burn out.

CAR

DI

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Swimming or biking (stationary or otherwise) are my cardios of preference, because running doesn't jive well with my multiple-timed-sprained ankle.

Swimming if you hate heat and humidity
Roller Blading
Running
Biking (stationary sucks)
Martial Arts (other than Tai Chi)

Good Diet?
Eat lotsa blackberries/blueberries, fish oil, garlic, eggs, only use olive oil, fruits, vegetables, eat pasta instead of sugar.

Have fun! If you're doing this for real, you'll notice a lot of changes in your metabolism, not just more longevity like most retards think.

Sod the Wii, slap on your iPod and just go running as you see fit (1 hour/day bare minimum), rain or shine.

I used to be really into weightlifting, for about 2 yrs, but that got boring QUICK

I just swim / play waterpolo now

much more entertaining and I look better (the weight lifter body got kinda pointless after awhile)

^ this, + protein like lean meats, chicken, salmon, tuna, soy, etc

good diet will help no matter what you do, independent of exercise

Depending on the kind of exercises done, weight lifting can wind up making for an uneven build.  Some exercises also have the risk of overdoing it and ruining your knees or something.  Walking, jogging, martial arts, or something else of that nature should be sufficient.  Weight lifting would probably help build up more raw strength, but that isn't the point of your exercising, so I don't think you care much for that allure.  If it were me, I think I'd go with mixed martial arts.

And if your main aim is reduced weight, weightlifting isn't that important - muscle weighs more than fat FTW.

Because it is more dense than fat. I recomend writing out a program for cardio and keep it visible. Some days you wont want to run or work out. Believe me. Keep someonei n the loop and have them nag you to do it. You may be annoyed but you will be annoyed and healthier. And i agree with Voldemort.  Fish, like salmon, grilled not fried is a very good substatue for fatty red meats.

Yea, that's why I have Korso helping me. He exercises a lot anyway, and he's sure to nag me.

Also martial arts might be the best way to go. I did weightlifting a few years ago till I could easily max out the stationary equipment. Taking the strength I gained from that and making it practical is not a bad idea.

if you want strength you should do weighed pullups, squats, deadlifts, and benchpress.. stationary are OK for sculpting but not functional strength

when I was really into weight lifting I got up to a 405 deadlift, but my neck was huge and I looked like a SUPER MARIO BROS FOOTBALLPLAYER YEAHHH!!!

sugar is evil... do lots of cardio... don't mix cardio & strength training too much...

martial arts is probably one of the best all around ways to build strength and cardio vascular indurance, if you get the right school, if you're interested in martial arts I could give you some suggestions of where to go, there are a lot of fucking retarded schools out there

It's my understanding that because of the changes in blood viscosity during sleep that when you get older (especially when you get to the ages that are commonly associated with heart attacks) you should wait longer in the day to exercise.  Like someone in their late fifties+ should refrain from exercising before noon.

Woke up early and had a breakfast of eggs and tomato slices. At 11 or so me and Korso went to a local park and walk/jog/sprinted in intervals for about 2 hours.

I am very tired and not feeling accomplished. The time almost feels wasted. Man am I glad I have someone to push me into this. It's very hard and hopefully it gets easier as time passes.

Finished my situps for the day.

I like being paler than normal. Though my skin reacts with just the smallest amount of sunlight. So I get an insta-tan for summer.

Ah yes. Only two exercise sessions and I have been forced back into a belt. The jogging routine has become much funner than I thought it would be. Purchased some weighted gloves as well for sparring.

The advice you guys gave is helping. Especially the diet advice, though I have not quite given up soda completely. I am however down to a can a day.
