How hard would it be?
Post them here!
You mean recoloring? If yes, then it's damn easy.
Adding new palettes and editing existing palettes takes no time at all, provided you have the right program. Creating new palettes from scratch is doable. But if you're asking about replacing sprites all together, that too is pretty simple with Shishi.
It would be more of a tedious job, that's a lot of new sprites to make.
Ah, I should clarify: replacing generics with completed sprites is pretty simple; designing those sprites, their palettes, and their portraits is time-consuming.
Well maybe just new pallettes colors.....I'm kinda bored of the old ones....i should have worded it better.
Here is example of how easy it is:

Kool. How do you do it? I mean I've been recoloring a few things in paint but it takes FOREVER.
GraphicsGale, you can recolor everything in no time.
Sweet, time to get that. Lol. Thank you for the info.
All you really need is Graphics Gale: go to the palette and replace the colors as necessary, save the BMP, import the sprite and its new palettes over the existing sprite and you're done. Although it may take some time, it's not difficult--I've been toying around with the idea of changing out palettes myself...but I'm lazy.
How about changing this topic into place where everyone can post their remakes of jobs? It may turn out well, btw here is another one:

Sounds awesome ill rename the topic and start on one.
Look! Old Wiegraf!

hehe. Is there a way to swap colors with graphics gale other then color fill?
I don't see how to just swap the pallettes...makes me feel stupid..
Hah! Old man Wiegraf looks pretty awesome, in my opinion.
I might do a recolor of the Male Thief later this week; I'll be sure to post it.

Yes! Please do remember to set the color depth to 16 or 256, in order to swap them.

I think you could try dragging the color. haha.
Mav, since *i think* we need a dark knight in Mercenaries,
can do you a recoloring for the Female Knight to make her a Dark Knight?
Thanks!

AuraDragon made some really awesome generic Holy and Dark knight sprites, so check that out, the sprites for the female versions are towards the end of the thread.
pretty nifty. Thanks!
All we need for AuraDragon's sprites (which are phenomenally gorgeous) are a couple portraits and then we'll be set. Maybe palettes too--I dunno...
(First post in what seem's like forever)
Hm. I keep wondering. How do you edit portrait's? I always find they come up in a slightly different colour then they're displayed ingame when I export the .BMP.
Alright the best for me to explain is as follows. If you export the BMP of a sprite from Shishi and open it in Graphics Gale you'll see the following window for the palette on that sprite:
That first row of colors corresponds to the sprite. The ninth row corresponds to the portrait.
Although the portrait on the BMP looks like nonsense, when you edit those colors and save the image you can see the differences in Shishi.
Now, to edit a portrait's colors by hand and with ease, you can create a separate image of the portrait with the correct colors (crop the image out in Paint or some other program) and open that in Graphics Gale. Proceed to edit that image's palette (you'll see the changes as you do them now), then hit "Save Palette" (if necessary, I'll post an image of the "Save Palette" option.)
Now copy that image and place it correctly onto the BMP of the sprite and hit "Load Palette" and copy the colors into the ninth slot.
And voila, you will have your edited portrait with the correct colors.
Hopefully that made sense: it sounds a bit more complicated than it really is. And hopefully I didn't completely mess up some step...
Ah..thank you. ^^
Yes, if anyone could finish the FDK and FHK sprites, it could be awesome...
I recolored Altima a bit, cause I was bored:

I began work on Veteran knight, a lot will be changed so don't worry.
Last week I recolored some Lucavi sprites for my patch:

Oh, I'm a long time lurker ^^
awesome knight
Here, a very simple knight recolor, my first hand at spriting, or pallette editing or anything. I think the red is too bright though...
Yeah, make the red less saturated. Try borrowing it from another sprite or something.
I had the same problem with saturation when I started, you will learn soon how to make it non-saturated
Generalstrife, you've also got some negative shading going on around the thighs. The best way to do a simple recolour is to find out what colour you want the part to be and then open the sprite database and find the palette there. Also take note of how many colours there are. For instance, if you want to change a gray shirt to blue, see how many grays are used and then find a sprite that uses the equivalent amount of blues. Then it's just a matter of swapping in all the equivalent shades. This doesn't work 100% of the time though due to texture (usually armour vs cloth) but you should rarely run into any problems using it.
Thanks asmo.
