Title: Token Dissidia Thread
Post by: DarthPaul on August 26, 2009, 09:01:07 am
So I got it. It was nice. Not exactly worthy of more hype, but nonetheless $40 well spent.

Anyone else?

I might get it later, out soon in Europe. The demo is only fun if you play on hard though. Though I do have Ad-Hoc Party so multiplayer will add some longetivity.

Ah yes hard mode was interesting because in a menu for difficulties I though Hrad would be on top and easy on bottom I ended up playing the Japanese version on hard.

Was just demoing it anyway. Also the N.A Hard mode is slightly easier.

Seriously? That's a pain. That's JP Elitism for you. Have you seen their retro shooters? I'm not surprised. They can dodge one million bullets without breaking a sweat.

Speaking of Japanese PSPs, in Japan, the PSP isn't called a PSP. It's called an MHM.

Monster Hunter Machine.

Please, tell me that was a horrible joke...

Yes but it's half-true. People in Japan often buy PSPs PURELY for Monster Hunter. Even people in their 40s and above. The lack of an infrastructure mode is understandable because in Japan it's frighteningly easy to get a game, there's even Monster Hunter Gathering Halls around (and the UK has one too), but since it's not as widespread in the rest of the world, that's where Kai and Ad-Hoc Party come in.

It's funny to see people talk about Ad-Hoc Party by saying "It was practically MADE for Monster Hunter" when they are wholly unaware that it WAS.

I suck at fighting games, so I didn't do all that great with the demo.  I was decent with Cecil and Onion Knight, but that was about it.  I'm not sure if it would be worth my money or not.  If I suck at it too badly, then I'll just get stuck and get rather irritated that I wound up wasting money on a game I can't play.  It is definitely an interesting game... I'm just not sure I could play it.  Then again, I did get WC2, 3, and Starcraft when I suck at that entire genre and still enjoyed them, so eh...

If you suck at Dissidia, you don't suck at fighting games, you suck at action RPGs.

Well if you want to get more specific, it would be hack and slash RPGs, in which case that would probably be right.  I was fairly decent in Dirge of Cerberus, which was a shooter RPG.  Oddly enough despite my lack of skill with most hack and slash, I'm not bad at Legend of Zelda games (except Zelda II).  Maybe it's the faster paced stuff and a lack of quick reflexes...?

I d/l'ed it but my PSP is not available for play 'cause I'm in the middle of adding 2 extra buttons for PSX games. I played the demo before I started to mod my PSP and it was pretty fun. The demo didn't really have any of the RPG elements available, though. The 1 on 1 game play reminded me of a cross between Dragon Ball and Power Stone. Can't wait to see how the fuck they explain having Garland and Chaos in the same game at the same time. My theory is that Garland was merely the vessel for Chaos in FF1 and not the same being.

Vanya...you mean...adding L2 and R2? That would be SWEET! sometimes using the digital nub just isn't enough.

Quote from: "Vanya". My theory is that Garland was merely the vessel for Chaos in FF1 and not the same being.

This is entirely correct. Garland is far from teh actual being "Chaos" they explained it better in the psp remake, but...its still kidna hard to follow. theres not alot of text.
